What a wonderful new park. Lots of open grass, a wonderful climbing tree, a cute play area, great gardens, 2 ½ court basket ball courts, and an awsome covered picknick area with electricity, a big BBQ, and running water. This place is the perfect place to play, meet, or relax.

For someone who grew up in this part of town, it is so nice to know there is such an awesome park where the haunted Montessori used to lay. This park has the neatest play equipment, most of it sturdy enough for adults to join in the fun too. It also was built in a perfect location, with a walking trail, soccer field, awesome &CLEAN basketball courts. Over all if you are looking for a great place to take The kids, look no further. –1 star for how congested the parking lot can get. Hard to get in and out when it’s busy.

We went to this park on the recommendation of parents we met at another park and it was great! Newly renovated, great play area and swings, covered picnic area, big grassy area to run in, and a neat rock cropping to climb on and walk around. Trails through the woods as well with exercise stations throughout. Very pretty park. I didn’t see any permanent restrooms — just a large honey bucket, but other than that the park is fantastic!

This is a really fun park. The equipment is new and unique. They have a play area designed for younger kids and one designed for older kids. It’s very pretty and there’s a lot of grass for playing sports or just running around.

Earlier this month, the City of Edmonds opened up it’s first brand new park since Seaview Park opened in 1973. Hickman Park is a 5.5 acre park that sits on the former site of Woodway Elementary School. It features the J.P. Patches kid’s playground — a smallish playground complete a few swings and the latest in playground equipment, a backstop for baseball/softball, a large grassy area, a handful of really nice trees to laze around under, a kind of cool rock formation to play on, a big picnic pavilion and two half basketball courts. It’s a really nice park that is already getting a ton of use. My only problems with it is that the kid’s playground has a very small footprint and even though there weren’t that many kids running around, it seemed pretty crowded. Also, the new style of playground equipment isn’t all that great for younger kids. My 18-month old loves to climb up stairs and go through tubes at other playgrounds, but even in the section that is designed for younger kids at Hickman Park, she really didn’t have much to do. Other than that though, this is a pretty nice little park. I hope that they continue developing the site including the baseball and soccer fields that are beyond the back fence. I’m not sure if it’s in the plans or not, but if it is, this will turn into quite the park for Edmonds.
