My daughter has been coming here for voice training for over a year — my daughter loves it and I couldn’t be happier with her progress. Easily a 5 star review

I’ve been singing as long as I can remember, and I started formal voice lessons when I was in 9th grade. I never aspired to be an opera singer, but I have always enjoyed participating in choirs and musical theater. Despite having studied with five different vocal coaches over almost two decades, I always found myself completely vocally exhausted after performances — sometimes losing my voice all together. I was really just looking to get back into regular vocal practice to help me prepare for a musical I’m doing this summer, but Malya has proven to be an excellent«vocal health» coach. She immediately identified the problems with my placement and breathing, and gave me clear, applicable techniques for improved vocal stamina and better sound production and resonance. She keeps me honest, too! The second she hears the old habits creep in, she’ll stop me and have me adjust, take a breath, and continue. I need those constant reminders and she’s not shy about providing them! I hear the difference, and more importantly I feel the difference. I live across the Sound and it is WELL worth the ferry trip to Edmonds to study with her! Unrelated to her abilities as a coach, but very important to mention, Malya is super accommodating of the fact that I’m the stay-at-home parent to a toddler. Not only is she understanding and flexible about the inevitable schedule changes that come with having a young child, she lets me bring my daughter along to lessons! Malya genuinely loves having her hang out with us, and even went through her sons’ old toys to find things that would help keep her occupied. It has worked out great, with the added bonuses that my daughter gets to hear lots of music and see her mom following her passions — everybody wins!

Both my daughter and I love NW Vocal Arts(Malya) I have been taking my daughter to Malya for a couple of years now and her vocals are so different from then and now,. Amazing! Malya does so much outside of just lessons for her students she really tries to get them out there and is always pushing my daughter to go above and beyond what she thinks she can do.

I hired Malya Muth to help my daughter strengthen her voice so she could try out for a school play. I am happy to report that she was cast in the lead role: Sandy in Grease. Several years later I needed help with my own voice and there was no doubt that I would find Malya again and hire her. Malya helped me understand how much of my entire body is utilized when I speak(I do A LOT of public speaking) and when I sing. Her depth and breadth of knowledge regarding the human voice continues to amaze me. I have learned how to use my voice in a way so I don’t sound hoarse at the end of the week, and I have also learned how to be a better singer and how important posture and breath support are in getting a good sound. I have more confidence and skill in singing than I ever imagined possible – so much that I have met my goal of being a singer in a rock band. Malya Muth comes with my highest recommendation.

I am a music teacher of guitar, piano and group classes. Although I was singing a LOT, my voice was tired and sometimes my vocal chords hurt. I went to see Malya Muth, and in just a few lessons, she completely helped me turn around my technique. Her lessons addressed my issues so thoroughly that I went from feeling like I had awful vocal technique to feeling like I knew exactly what to practice to get better. I was only able to take 3 lessons and I improved dramatically. I sure wish I had the time and money to sign up for regular lessons. She is a total pro and I can’t recommend her highly enough!
