Tempest Burlesque is a group of seattle performers that I love going to see. The group ranges with performers at all levels and all styles of burlesque. I’ve seen several shows and have enjoyed them greatly. As a burlesque performer myself.

Stay away from Sinful Sunday by Tempest Burlesque! I am a burlesque performer myself and was horrified by what I saw during this show at Rendezvous on Sunday. It was like watching a train wreck happen or like a strange scene in a David Lynch movie come to life. Not only was it horribly done but I don’t even think it could be called burlesque based on what I saw. Highlights included a girl dressed as a boy lip psynching to a top 40 song(no costuming or choreagraphy was apparent), a scary hostess who may forever haunt my dreams, a strange drag act which involved removing a bloodied tampon on stage, fake breasts which when removed had eyes painted on the back side and culminated with the performer stabbing audience members with a fake knife. Even when strip tease was attempted, it was generally a miserable failure. One performer almost fell down on stage when she attempted to take off her pants before her shoes! The only highlight was an old fashioned act performed in a bustled dress with corsette and gloves. But most of the show was just bizarre and not professionally done. All in all something I wish I could forget and I certainly wish I could get my money and my time back. At best this could be described as post-apocalyptic burlesque. So if you are in the mood for something that makes you feel strange, dirty, and disturbed then go check this out. Otherwise, stay away.
