Got a recommendation from another Indonesian from the area. As a born and raised in Indonesia, I can say foods served are one of the most authentic ones I’ve had in the states. Had ayam kremes(I like their terasi and well marinated chicken), serabi(heat it in their microwave first), risoles(also heated, then put on their peanut sauce), and some other snacks they have. Thinking to go back already before leaving the Seattle area soon.

Yummy! Got the Nasi Pedang at the recommendation of other reviewers and loved it! In addition, the server came by halfway through our meal and offered us a free drink concoction he made too much of(not sure of the same, but it was green and milky and delicious). The prices($ 9 – 10) an entrée are a little steep for me to come here more often, but they seem pretty reasonable especially when compared to food trucks(and you get to eat inside!) This is a hidden gem in the middle of a strip mall full of gems(Biang, Tap Express… what’s next?) –a must for anyone looking for a casual cultural dining experience!

i know nothing about indonesian food but this great little indonesian deli is delicious and i can tell that this is all home cooking. first stopped in back in 2012 then intermittently since then. looks like there was a major upgrade before my last visit in january 2016. latest visit was in april 2016. i was studiously working my way down the chalkboard menu, but now there are new items that i will have to continue to work on. the friendly and helpful owners are happy to spend the time with this newbie, explaining the various dishes. i always eat in to watch what others are ordering. on some occasions, the diners are also making huge stock-up purchases. there’s refrigerated take-out food(non-taxable) but if you order the dine-in menu then the food is taxable. there’s one fairly large table for groups(that i’ve seen) and 2 or 3 small tables. from the chalkboard: i liked everything i’ve had from the original chalkboard. nasi padang beef and chicken rendang: it’s rice with seasone braise beef and chicken with a hard boiled egg and spicy sauce(maybe sambal?) wrapped up in a banana leaf and steamed. meatball soup: hard to describe. light clear broth. very good. ketoprak-vegetarian plate: mostly tofu, cold, with all kinds of peppers and other stuff. chicken sate: you all know what this is. from the cold case: nasi bakar= anchovy rice in bamboo leaf. this is my all time favorite. it is not sticky rice. highly flavored and seasoned with salty tiny asian anchovies. microwave on high for a few minutes at home. if you like strong flavors you will love this. i’ve watched customers take prepped food from the cold case and reheat in the microwave or have the kitchen reheat and eat dine-in. service is a little slow at times because first of all, the dine-in menu is cooked to order and the staff must also wait on the grocery shoppers. everyone is always cheerful. it’s worth a stop. the food is delicious. they will explain the various dishes to you. don’t pass on this one.

Hit or Miss. But i am sure it’s not as good as when they just opened. Less and less selection of Indonesian food and snacks and I agree with the other reviews, no price tag and no expiration dates on the food they sell. My big question, why I have to buy ready to eat food there frozen with the same price or more expensive than eating them fresh at Indo Café?

I ‘ve been here a few times and this is my review: 1. Chaotic system For new customers, coming there for the first time can be quite confusing. The so called” menu” is listed at 3 different places around the cashier table with skimpy explanation in English. They just assume that you know. A few times I was there, the person was busy doing something in the kitchen and nowhere to be found. Should I order at the cashier table or should I sit down? Unclear. 2. Price list The food in the freezer does not have a price on it, The price on the board, …Hmm. I don’t remember if it was clearly written. One of my friends was shocked when being slapped with expensive $$$ french macarons. It’s not about the price but more about the fact that the price was not clearly written. It is like bad end taste. 3. Taste I have to say that generally the taste is good and quite authentic. Recently however, it has been a hit or miss ever since they employ a new cook. If they cannot maintain the quality of the taste, this business will tank shortly because the taste is what customers hang on to. 4. Space Not suitable for large group. It’s not a complaint, just FYI. 5. Service The owners are nice. However, they can be easily overwhelmed by multiple orders at the same time. They are VERYVERY slow. The last time I came there, we showed up at 1PM and they haven’t cooked the rice yet and it took close to an hour for the rice to be ready. Hello?!? Bad kitchen management. All in all, I will give it another try or two but if they cannot improve their service quality and maintain or improve the taste of their food, I am out.

I usually expect the Unilocal ratings to be inflated out in the ‘burbs, but this place really does deserve five stars. super friendly and helpful owner to boot!

Small place with a good food. I even found a dish from my city which is Cwie Mie Malang. Well, as an Indonesian myself, this place is pretty authentic and I think I’ll go to this place whenever I miss my hometown The only suggestion: seems like they need to add more items to their menu and their grocery store. I wish they sell Pempek Palembang!

You can find a small variety of Indonesian groceries items here as well as some cooked items. It’s very small and seems to have more coffee and candy type items than anything else. A lot of the reviews mention really friendly service but I’ve been in a few times and nobody talked to me. I never thought about having a sit down meal there since it didn’t really seem like that was an option.

Indonesian authenticity to the tee. A couple of small tables to eat at, actually three if you can fend off the cutie patootey little daughter of the owner with her crayon set. They will explain to you their plethora of options and either heat up or make the food for you on the spot; we tried the short rib with salted duck egg, and the coconut curry on rice with shrimp chips. I tried an awesome boxed tea and took some chocolate cookies home for dessert.

After a trip to Jakarta, I am so hooked with Indonesian food. Glad to find this little jem in Edmonds. Today my husband came and we got nasi padang. It was very good. I also found Indonesian coffee that i like. The owner and their staff is so friendly. They are eager to hear how I discover Indonesian food.

Fantastic food at good portion sizes. I got the Nasi Padang(~$ 9.5) and Nasi Lemak Rendang(~$ 9). Both were delicious.

I may have gone in of an off day as the food wasn’t that great. Indonesian dishes are usually so flavorful but the beef curry I tried was just meh… it didn’t have much curry or beefy flavor. I also tried the fried chicken and that was also only ok. Plus the rice was very hard from being refrigerated and it took a lot of time in the microwave to get warm and some of it got dried out and wasn’t appetizing. No reason to visit again. If you want better food, check out Kedai Makan in Cap Hill. Wayyyy better!

5 stars for the hospitality and the nasi padang. they make it fresh on weekends. they also carry indonesian foods. not really a restaurant, more of a store tht has prepared foods.

They have the best Indonesian Food here! «Nasi Padang» and Empek-empek are always my favorite dish! FYI: They only have the nasi padang on the weekend and you better call first, because this dish is very popular and usually they ran out the stock by 1pm. Also, I would say that this place have a better selection when it comes to indonesian grocery products! LOVETHISPLACEEE!

I like going there since Yoyon, the owner is so friendly. And yes, I agree with some of the comments here about the dry food without expiration date. Also, beware when you buy the rempeyek. There are two different sellers(judging from the different packages and the taste) and the one with BLUE strips plastic sacks are yummy BUT they cause diarrhea in me and some other people I talked to. They are not spicy but I believe the oil used to fry them has something to do wit it. BEWARE! Do not buy the ones with blue strips packaging.

I was craving Indonesian food after talking to a former flight attendant for an Indonesian airline, so she recommended I try this place. Pro tip: when seeking a country’s food, it pays to ask someone who grew up there. This«restaurant» is actually a convenience store that used to be a Japanese video rental shop, and is well-hidden right next to biang! in an unassuming strip mall just north of the Ranch 99 complex along Highway 99. Between the instant noodle bags and the snack shelves are a few tables for those who would rather«eat in.» In the back of the store is a cold case that stores the true gems– prepared Indonesian meals and perishable snacks that are priced to sell. I asked the clerk for a recommendation and she pointed to the Lontong Cap Go Meh so I ordered one and asked her to prepare it for me, along with a bottle of cold Calamansi fruit juice(tastes like a blend of lime and orange). The Lontong Cap Go Meh is basically a spiced yellow curry loaded with small shrimp tails, a marinated chicken thigh, a boiled egg, sliced veggies, crispy shrimp chips, and lontong(compressed sticky rice wrapped in a banana leaf). The curry sauce is slightly thin but packs a fair amount of curry spices, enough to enhance but not overwhelm the dish. The Lontong Cap Go Meh was filling(solid 3 stars) and the unique-tasting fruit drink added to the exoticness of the meal but sitting next to a few natives speaking their native tongue and the wonderful service by the clerk really made this a 4-star experience! This store/restaurant definitely holds its own in a complex that also houses two fine Chinese noodle houses and a tapioca fu-fu drink spot. For the adventurous, now-and-then they will import boxes of fresh Dodol made with durian. Now, that’s a true Indonesian foodie if you can enjoy that!

The food they have prepared and packaged there was better than the restaurant food we tried down the street. Lontong Cap Gomeh was really really delicious. My wife is from Indonesia, I’m glad we found this place. They have the yummy stuff we like!!! We will drive from Olympia to Edmonds again for sure.

Great food and market, too bad not all of them are fresh. Gotta love their nasi padang, although it always gives me a stomachache(too spicy?), bihun bakso is good, and they have the best indonesian mie ayam. Food aside, they do sell some indonesian medicine which is very handy(pricy thou) if you use traditional indonesian medicine at all… Recommended

Nasi Padang, Soto Tangkar, Mie Bakso, and all your favorite Indonesian dishes in one little place. This store has everything from spices and ingredients to ready-made gourmet dishes(all home-cooked by the owner Ira on the same day). They also baked goods and Indonesian bread/snacks. There are a few other Indonesian restaurants in WA, but Waroeng Jajanan reminds me of REAL, authentic Indonesian food the most. Don’t expect their martabak to be like the ones from Indonesian street vendors. It’s good enough we have any martabak at all in Seattle. Ask them for specific instructions to reheat martabak; but even following them, we’ve over– and under-heated ours. I was also a little disappointed with their srikaya jam. It wasn’t real srikaya but a mix of eggs yolk and other things. I guess once you’ve had the real thing, nothing will compare. The other drawback is that it’s a ways off Seattle/Bellevue, where most Indonesians live and work. Still, this is the best of Indonesia you can get in Seattle.

I’ve been going to Waroeng Jajanan and bought their cooked food ever since they opened until when I found I got sick from eating their food. Unfortunately, I couldn’t tell which food that made me sick that day because I bought quite a few dry snack and cooked food from their fridge and ate them all on the same day. The thing about their food is, it didn’t say when they prepared them and there’s no expiration date listed anywhere on the packaging so you won’t know how long they’ve been sitting in the fridge! I also found the cooked food they have are overpriced considering they are cold, non fresh food and need to be reheated. I gave a 3 star because as far as buying their dry grocery, sometimes I find some(not all) are cheaper than buying them from 99 Ranch in the building next door so you gotta check/compare before you shop. The owners were friendly but when they weren’t around, the person who works there doesn’t seem to know the product they’re carrying very well and isn’t trained to use the cash register to undo a transaction.
