Pretty grounds. Attended a wedding here. Loved the Dave, so sweet and delicious. Food was decent too.

I purchased a Groupon here and I felt like none of the wine was that good-most of them I couldn’t even finish the sample. Just something not right about it. The food was a big let down. I got the burger which was just a frozen burger patty and my mother got the jalapeño strawberry chicken sandwich — the chicken didn’t even cover half the bun! The grapes on our plate were all garbage worthy looking like the ones at the bottom of the grape bag that you pitch. It wasn’t the best experience and even with the Groupon it felt like a waste of money. Disappointed!

I visited the winery for the dueling pianos event they do. Love a good show, and it was good. It was nice to get a little spiffed up and enjoy a classy dinner and wine(though by the end of the night the level of classy def decreased, which made for a very fun evening). Really I think this is a great place for special occasions They had a buffet style set up with salad(with amazing wine dressing), great mashed potatoes, and mushroom chicken. They also served a table full of really really good dessert. like omg that apple pie! The atmosphere is nice; all clean with views of the vineyards. We tried the sangria and the Susan wine. Both very sweet. Both very good. Glasses are way more expensive; just buy a bottle. You’d be amazed how quickly it can disappear. Tip: Dress nice for pics! This place has several great photo locations if you want a nice couple or family photo. .

Had a Groupon and went on Father’s Day, making reservations well in advance. Most of the menu was not available. Under staffed. Very disappointing so probably would not go back or recommend. Too bad.

Our family reserved for a Father’s Day Buffet for 7 people a month in advance as required. Some of us. arrived 10 mins before our reservation, nobody greeted us at the door — which was no big deal as we saw a table with our name, so we seated ourselves. We sat there for 20MINUTES before anyone brought us water! The person who did finally bring us water… apologized for her attire because she usually works outside in the fields but was asked to help in the tasting room today. All I could think was… mgmt could’ve at least provided her with a «fresh» shirt to serve food in the restaurant! It took another 10MINUTES until a server came with menus and another 10MINUTES after that to bring the wine menu!!! Over an HOUR after we arrived, the server finally comes to take our orders, beginning with the announcement that… «because the winery had a wedding the day before, the kitchen is OUT of all chicken breasts so all dishes with chicken are NOT available!!!» That wiped out ½ the menu… which was not the buffet we were told we were coming for!!!(I knew we should’ve left right then! Huge sign of mgmt problems! But I persevered & kept quiet.) When someone inquired about the Salmon patties, the server explained that the patties weren’t available either, but had been replaced by a Salmon Filet… then added that she, personally, doesn’t like a filet & prefers the patties. There’s nothing wrong with the filets, I just don’t like them!(That’s a huge sign of lack of proper training! SAD!!). OK! So our orders are in & drinks/wine FINALLY are served AFTER we’ve ONLY been there for ONEHOUR&15MINUTES!!! We’re hoping against hope that the food will come quickly & be worth the wait! 30MINUTES later, the table next to us — who arrived 20 minutes AFTER us — was served their food! After 2+ HOURS, our food finally arrived. The server had an attitude about bringing condiments for the burgers that were ordered(lack of proper training, again). What was described on the menu did NOTTRANSLATE to the plate! Huge disappointment for a Father’s Day celebration! Plus their mismanagement caused me to be late for work! I didn’t know I’d need 3 hours for a luncheon!!! This Winery needs to decide if it’s serious or not! I tipped the server over $ 5.00 because she is not to blame for mismanagement & their lack of proper training. The wedding was no surprise & neither were all the Father’s Day reservations!!! According to most recent reviews, they agree with my disappointment. Management needs to decide between their 2 venues. It’s not acceptable to nix ½ your menu because of a wedding the day before a Special Holiday Dinner you advertise!!! NOR is the untrained/unskilled serving staff acceptable along with a 3HOUR service time!

I have to be honest with this one. The wine and food was just not that good. All of the wines are REALLY sweet and don’t taste like anything they are described as. Additionally, the food was even worse. We got a turkey bacon wrap and a rueben of some sort. Both were made with this odd texture for turkey. Additionally, we purchased a Groupon for a wine tour and they had to cancel the tour because the person wasn’t there. May be a good spot for a wedding. But for a date, I would not recommend it.

Placed reservations for Mothers Day. Brought my 88 year old mom along with my husband and daughter. When we arrived our table wasn’t ready. When we were seated I had to hand the man the tablecloth her forgot to take with him. The table was set for 3 people not four. We had no silverware and received to ice waters. We went to the buffet and selected our food and sat down. For starters it was freezing in there with the ceiling fan on high. So my husband asked the manager if we could turn off the overhead fan and his reply was say please. As I took my first bite I noticed my food was cold. Not Luke warm. Cold. I didn’t want to say anything but cold is cold. So I slid my plate back and stopped eating So did the rest of my family without saying anything to one another. Then I said it. My foods cold. My 20 year old daughter got up and spoke with the manager. He finally came to the table and said we just turned the burners up on the food they should be ok now. Sorry for the inconvenience. I will take 50 dollars off of your bill. It was 24.95 a person. I told my daughter no big deal I will just eat some salmon. I had about four bites and couldn’t take it. We asked for the check and left. About a hour later I got sick. Food temperatures are important in any dining establishment. I have went to this place numerous times. I had never had a problem. On Mother’s Day it was such a disappointment to not only my mom but alone my entire family. And to top it off we never seen our waitress till she handed us a check. Thanks for making my day special. It was Not!!!

I’ve been there before to a banquet and it was fine. I went to the café for a family get together and it was unacceptable. Service was very slow. Took 40 minutes to get food and they missed two people in the group. Food was subpar at best. The missing burger was left on the grill for the entire 40 minutes. Wait staff thought it was cute to be forgetful and clumsy. Presentation was that of a mess hall. Will I go back, not willingly. Never want to go back in my life. They should stick to whine(get it?)

Our daughter got married at this winery last weekend and the setting is absolutely stunning! The ceremony was at the far lake, accessible by «the grape train». I would give the ambiance factor 5 stars. The surroundings are beautiful — views of the vineyards and old oak trees and a picturesque very rustic bridge. The cocktail hour was outside in an open air tent followed by dinner & reception in their good sized banquet room which has a beautiful oak bar and good sized dance floor. If you are considering this venue for a wedding, I have a couple words of advice. First of all, the grape train transports approximately 30 guests at a time and is VERY slow. Have your guests arrive early and allow ample time for seating. Also, you may want to consider having several ushers to seat your guests, as large groups of people are all unloaded and arrive at the same time.(I think my 2 teenage sons were a little overwhelmed!) The wedding coordinator only provides the EXACT number of chairs as your final head count — so if people don’t move in and use every single seat, some will end up having to stand in the back. We had just under 150 guests and did not require amplification for the pastor or the musicians(string quartet). This was a good thing since there is no electricity out by the far lake. The terrain is somewhat uneven so I would highly recommend flats! I would also recommend building in extra time after the service(an extended cocktail period before dinner) because of the length of time it takes to transport all your guests back to the main building. Our last group of guests(as well as the wedding party and family members participating in photos) missed the sangria & hor d’oeuvres entirely. I heard the sangria was amazing and the shrimp was delicious. The cheese platter is displayed very nicely and impressive looking. Everyone seemed to like the food. I got the vegetarian dinner which was roasted vegetables in a puff pastry and asparagus in some kind of delicious hollandaise type sauce. It was HUGE and very good(unlike many vegetarian options offered) A couple of the guests told me it was the best vegetarian meal they had ever had at a wedding. This was a very pleasant surprise to me since we were not able to taste any of the vegetarian options prior to the wedding. The tasting only included the meat choices. Which brings me to why I cannot give 5 stars — I feel our contact person/coordinator could have been more accommodating and personable. I guess overall in the wedding business customer service ends the minute the sale is made. At least that has been my experience with 2 daughters getting married this summer. A few final words — there is a nice sized bridal room for the girls to get ready in. There is a golf cart you can use to transport any decorations, etc. out to the lake area. The wine is a little on the sweet side for me. I personally prefer dry full bodied wines. My favorites were Red October for a red and Misty Creek for a white. The nice thing is you can taste them all and keep the glass for just $ 5. Overall it was a unique and lovely setting for a wedding with great ambiance!

Glad we made the stop for lunch on our road trip. The food was good, the wine delicious and the winery was quite lovely. We bought some Norton and Peche Blanc on our way out. I would definitely stop by again!

I had the occasion to visit this winery for a party in their(only?) banquet room. It is a very nice room with a cool ornate wood bar and nice parquet wood floors. The food was buffet but was very good. I found all of their wines to be like melted candy but their mixed drinks were spot on! I really enjoyed myself here and would think this would be a really nice place for a company party, wedding/baby shower, grandparent’s 80th birthdays, etc.

If you’re used to California wineries, this is not your place. The people were friendly, the wine had potential, but the wine seemed to be a bit of an afterthought when talking about what we were tasting. The wines might be better if they didn’t try to make so many and focused on making fewer, but amazing wines.

I’ve been here twice with a friend & she swears by this place, I went and I’m just as impressed. The history of the place is great, and the décor matches. Whenever we’ve gone in, a helpful employee politely offers help. «What are you looking for?» «What’s your price range?» «What sort of wines do you like?» Some employees will take time to explain their suggestions and others will simply make a suggestion and say, «This is popular.» Some people like a quick buy, I like the explanations… the stories told by the flavors of the wine. Thankfully, all of the wines we get are great. I’ve been at some wine stores that have nice little descriptions of the wines(employee opinions) by the price tags. Those might be a nice supplement for employees who aren’t talkative in their sales. I really enjoy shopping for wine here. I have always found the staff very helpful and informative and never snooty. I don’t end up here often, but it’s a real gem … There are lots of rare goodies here… Not everything is rare, they have a sampling of just about everything. If you want to get into a great wine discussion or just learn a bit more, talk up the people who work here. Always a fantastic experience.

When there is fruit-infused wine, you really can’t go wrong! I tried Dave and liked it because the wine was infused with peach and strawberry, which made me happy. The Kickapoo Blush wine was also excellent. We stopped in for a quick bite and tried their wines. Food was mainly wraps and sandwiches but the soups were good, too. $ 2.50 for a small cup but they were tasty(Tomato Bisque and Cream of Asparagus). They offer 5 tastings for $ 3 and if you want to keep the glass with the insignia, it’s only another $ 2. They open their entire menu to the tastings, which is nice to try their reds, whites, blushes, infused, dessert, or whatever their other wine category was. I found most of them(aside from Dave, Kickapoo Blush, and Sunset something) to be really sweet. Overall, it was good wine but they were about $ 13-$ 16 each. The sitting area was really comfortable with high top chairs and tables mixed with some lower seating. They even had a fireplace with a couch to the side. The TV suggested there were walking paths around the area including a trail to take you near the Elizabeth Lake(I think). They said they were all walking paths but we didn’t have time to venture out. Service wasn’t bad. The waitress was good and friendly but the person pouring the wine wasn’t as interested in small talk or even answering questions. While we weren’t here to enjoy this, they said on Friday afternoon/evenings, they have a band play. For around $ 20 – 30, you can eat whatever you want in their spread and wine. They mentioned they were booked until November on the weekends so beware it might be busy!

I was a guest at a wedding here this past weekend, with about 300 guests. The venue was lovely. The meal was actually GOOD! The meal was awesome with top quality food – not your typical banquet food. The dance floor was plentiful and the bar was nice sized. I felt the staff was friendly and helpful. I have to agree with the other reviewer, in that the wine called Dave is very good. Yes it is sweet, but in a good way. My only complaint is that the parking lot is gravel. If you’re going to a wedding, it can chew up your expensive high heels pretty quick, and who wants to be seen walking in with tennis shoes and changing into heels when you get into the building? So happy I had a spouse(who doesn’t wear heels) driving so he could drop me off and pick me up at the door. I will definitely return some day to buy some Dave wine for my own home. Maybe even venture into the other flavors too. ;)

I visited Kickapoo Creek Winery because my friends were getting married here. I didn’t attend the tasting bar, but I did get to taste many of the wines during the open bar. I enjoyed the wines, especially a wine called Dave. Dave is a strawberry peach wine. Dave is very sweet, but so tasty. It’s hard not to fall in love with Dave. The venue was great. The staff was friendly. If I’m ever back in the area, I’d stop in for an official wine tasting. I think the winery is unique for the area, and the venue was a great place for a wedding.

The employees at the tasting bar of this establishment need to work on their people skills. They were not cheery. They did not make small talk. They did not describe the wines they were pouring. And worst of all, not ONE of them cracked a smile. Like Jennifer P. said, «The manager, Karen, can be fairly rude…». We have visited more than our fair share of wineries here in Northern California, and we have never received the terrible type of service we received in Kickapoo. My wife and I visited this winery in October 2009. We found the wines to be way too sweet. We both had sugar headaches 20 minutes after our tasting. There was nothing impressive about this winery. I think people go there because this place has a «big fish in a little pond» attitude. «We’re the only winery for miles around, so take it or leave it». We’ll leave it. Save yourself some time and money. Crack a bottle of MD20 – 20 and listen to one of your favorite records. You will enjoy it more than drinking their junk.

Kickapoo Creek Winery is a wonderful winery just outside of Peoria. They have a quaint gift and tasting room. Some of the money that you spend on the tasting is applied to a bottle of wine if you decide to purchase a bottle. They have a wide selection of red and white wines as well as desert wines. Also, lunch is served on the weekends.
