Great coffee. My favorite is the iced soy latte. I also recommend their croissants and the baked oatmeal. I wish they were open later.

Good place! Nice aura from the inside but my croissant was cold and not too good. It is famous but i wasn’t too impressed with it

This place is very confusing to find. The building has a sign that says 222 Artisan bakery, but on the door it is Goshen Coffee. It has the look and feel of a coffee house with a bakery case. Today we were trying Danishes for our weekly bakery crawl. They had four different Danishes to try. We selected the Strawberry Chocolate, Blueberry and Cheese(sometimes to have to go with traditional). The blueberry was just the right amount of filling to get a bite of blueberry each time you took a bite. The chocolate was drizzled on top with strawberry jam. My favorite was the cheese, I found the cheese to be light tasting and just the right amount of creaminess.

Small café on Main Street in Edwardsville. Not much seating but if you manage to snag one, it’s a great place to hang out and read a Sauce magazine. Maybe over a Goshen coffee and one of their delicious pastries. I love this place. Back in my college days, we would always come here in the morning after going out drinking. Usually on a friday morning after a thursday night out. If we slept in late enough we would get lucky and they would be making pizza already. Oh, right. On Fridays they make pizza. It’s great. Go try it. One time i stopped in here for coffee and a pizza. Ended up leaving with a pound of coffee and a bacon chocolate chip cookie too.

Bar none the best coffee in Edwardsville. Great place to sit and chat over a nice lunch with 2 – 4 people. They have a decent number of sandwiches with fresh bread that changes up regularly. Same with their soups, though you have to get there early to make sure you get some. At least with their soups they rely on fresh are available ingredients so you know it’s not that pre-made garbage at some joints. I’ve never had the opportunity to try their Friday pizzas but I’ve heard great things. Finally, I often get their salads that, while nothing to write home about, are consistently good. Basically, if you have a chance go with a small group of friends and grab a cup of Goshen coffee, a cup of their soup du jour, and a sandwich on their amazing bread to enjoy a small café the way it’s meant to be.

This place is a go-to spot to me whenever I visit Edwardsville. I lived there for 8 years and have moved to St. Louis, so when I get the chance to stop by, I take it. The staff is super knowledgeable and so good with their craft, and the pastries, breakfast burritos, coffee and coffee drinks, and pizzas have never ceased to satisfy and amaze me. You would be doing yourself a disservice if you live in the area and don’t enjoy some time spent at 222.

If I don’t work mornings, I walk here to get my usual… Iced coffee and oatmeal. When I do have to work… I drive here to get my iced coffee and oatmeal. I’m addicted, in love, obsessed. Just go in and try everything. Except my oatmeal, it’s mine.

Quite possibly the best cinnamon rollover ever had. If they ever have the ham Dijon croissant you have to give it a try. I’m from Boston and these guys could teach our bakers how to do it right.

Delicious and fresh! Many flavors of coffee and various drinks to choose from! Go early if you are wanting a pastry! Their chocolate croissant and cinnamon roll are the best!

I just spend the last 5 months in Edwardsville, IL and I couldn’t have survived it with Artisan Bakery’s Iced Coffee and Iced Chai Tea Lattes. The staff was always welcoming and ready to have small chats with me as I ran my errand. Their pastries were always waiting to welcome you to the shop, and I could never get enough of their chocolate croissants. I have in fact sampled their dog treats(because why not) and I would only warn against giving them to older dogs or dogs with poor teeth, as they are very thick, and very hard. Again, these guys are awesome.

This was a lovely place to stop for a morning cup of coffee. My toffee latte was well made but nothing to write home about. I was pleased by the variety of syrup options they had, though. I felt the same way about the raspberry scone(it was enjoyable, but not awe-inspiring), which was disappointing because this place has such rave bakery reviews. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing! Atmosphere wise, the décor is simple and seating limited. We didn’t stay long because we didn’t want to monopolize the window seat!

Cute spot in the downtown area — helpful service, lots to choose from. I picked up a loaf of French bread that was a great consistency.

Some of the best bread and pastries I’ve had anywhere, including in Paris, Rome, and Milan. Well worth the money you spend here for the quality of the product!

Not only is the are the pastries for people delicious, but(according to my dog) they also make the best dog treats. I haven’t personally tried them, but my dog can’t get enough of these even though he’s pretty picky with his treats. They don’t always have the dog treats available, so get them while you can as long as you leave a few for me.

Pastries and coffee, need I say more? They do have sandwiches and pizza for lunch. Everything I have had has tasted fresh and fantastic!

How disappointing to finally drive from Columbia, Illinois after calling on the 4th and not getting a message on the answering machine or seeing anything in their outdated website about special holiday hours only to see that they are closed all week until the 9th. I took it from the Unilocaler post on July 3rd that at least they hadnt gone out of business and we were looking forward to trying them, along with apparently a lot of other disappointed customers who walked away from their door. It is my opinion that there are too many other awesome places in the area and in St. Louis to have wasted my time and to have to have gotten food from a diner that morning(sgt peppers next door) when that was not the intent. Could have saved time, gas and not gotten out in 106 heat for a very disappointing trip. Maybe they should put effort into communicating their hours to potential and current customers vs. just posting a sign on their door. What a shame. They may have the best pastries and coffee, we sure wouldn’t know, but to be successful, one has to manage all aspects of business and a main one is to the public as to your hours of operation!

*Did you know that 222 Artisan was started by Matt H., the same guy who roasts Goshen Coffee, the area’s only 100% organic coffee, which is poured at Pi, Erato, and several other fine dining establishments? * Did you know that 222 Artisan serves up some tasty sandwiches with bread baked in house? I’m working my way through the«signature sandwich» menu, and recommend that you try the aioli or olive tapenade in place of mayo or mustard — both are very good. * Did you know that 222 Artisan serves a couple of killer salads? There’s the«House» — spring greens, croutons, and candied walnuts, or the«Spinach» — spinach(of course!), dried cranberries, blue cheese, and toasted almonds. I need to ask more about what’s in the fabulous dressings. They taste like herbs in butter and bacon. If you’re going to try 222 Artisan, then you CANNOT be in a hurry. There is one line, one cash register, and one preparation speed, and it is not fast. I’ve tried phoning in my order. Often I still end up waiting in line to pay. But I keep going back because the product is memorably good. When your Unilocal app map shows John H. @ 222 Artisan, you may think, «Geez, what’s he doing chunking up on cinnamon rolls AGAIN?!» But, really, I’m probably picking up a sandwich, or drinking the best coffee in the St. Louis area. Moonstone should be called«John Stone»: it’s my favorite blend.

This place just keeps getting better. 3 new reasons: 1.Week-day breakfast special. Bring your own travel mug and you get your coffee for free if you buy a pastry. 2. Biscuits and gravy on Sunday — some of the best I’ve ever had. Bet you can’t finish a plate alone! 3. Pizza Friday — Oh how I wish I had discovered these sooner!

i spent 3.5 years in Europe enjoying the best pastries man has to offer. Since returning about 1.5 years ago, I have been searching for something/anything that could compare. Behold! The sandwich and salad menu is rather uninspiring, but the coffee and pastries do more than compensate. Thanks goes out to another business that has put some passion into what they do. Artisan is indeed the correct label. I can’t stress enough how good the coffee is.
