Excellent option for dinner suggested by a friend, hidden in the heart of Edwardsville. My friends surprised me at Bigelo’s for my birthday. What a great choice! The reviews for the Bigelo’s Sub are spot-on. I would go back just for this. A member of our party ordered the house made chips with the warm bleu cheese dip. These had an excellent and unexpected flavor profile that was delicious as well. Prices were reasonable and the server was friendly and knew the menu and selections well. I felt like the pace was a tad fast, which is why I only rated four stars, but it was busy and the server had several tables. I was still eating my meal and the server arrived with checks and to-go boxes. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend and plan on going back soon!

Two words: Bigelos sub This epic sandwich makes this a regular spot for me when my travels return me back to the Eastside of the mighty river. And I really miss the half-price bottles of wine Tuesday through Thursday. It’s not that they don’t exist it’s just that I cannot partake considering my home is way over yonder in MO now. However they do offer re-corking. This is a laid back place with a nice mix of pastas and subs and really tasty salads. It’s a good spot for a date or a client lunch, i’ve used it for both. But I primarily use it because I might have an addiction to that sub!

This is our family’s go to spot for a friendly, yummy, non-chain restaurant experience. There isn’t a meal I haven’t enjoyed here. Sandwiches and pizzas are super yummy with unique and interesting ingredients. Great beer selection too! The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is cozy casual. I highly recommended this spot for lunch or dinner.

Casual dining with a great menu… their salads are great… but the grilled cheese sandwich is a show stopper. 5 cheese sandwich with a sweet tomatoe… love this sandwich. Good service

I had pasta with shrimp, feta cheese, sun dried tomatoes and cumin with the Caesar salad. The salad was drenched in dressing and completely covered with cheese, and the portion on the pasta was large but the cumin was so heavy that I couldn’t even make it halfway through the dish. The waitress didn’t seem at all surprised when I commented that the cumin was off-putting. The crab cakes and triple berry tart were good, but be prepared for dishes served scaldingly hot and with a heavy handed amount of seasoning and sauce.

I always try to stop by here when I’m in town. Bigelo’s is great for pretty much everything. Good spot if you want a beer or glass of wine. They have a variety of items on the menu to choose from. Fav: tomato soup w/spinach salad. The bacon vinagerette is amazing. Great sandwiches. The homemade chips and cheese dip is out of this world! If you’re lucky, you’ll stop in when they have a band. Great location right on main street.

The pizza is very, very good. I’ve always had a hit-or-miss service situation, so I can’t give this more than 3 stars. The food is great and the beer selection is nice. Definitely worth a visit, but I can’t make any solid statements about the service.

I’ve eaten here hundreds of times for lunch since it is next door to my office in Edwardsville. But, I never get tired of Bigelo’s. It is on the list of spots I can always go to for a business lunch. I get a bowl of the beer cheddar soup(which is delicious) and then a club salad with warm bacon vinaigrette for an entrée or the Bigelo Sub, with chipotle aioli.

I cannot express how much I love Bigelo’s. Homemade ice cream, incredible pizzas, beer dinners, and delicious weekend specials! They always knock it out of the park. The Bigelo is my go-to sandwich these days — always amazing. Beer selection is ever changing and one of the best in town. The staff is always fantastic and friendly. I also love and appreciate the fact that this is one of if not the only restaurant in town that doesn’t have a TV. Enjoy the food and your company. Bigelo’s never disappoints.

The Chicken St Thomas is filled with a beautiful and unique taste. The whiskey medallions were cooked perfectly and were equally delicious. The crab cakes made me happy. Literally, after we ate them, I was enthusiastic. They were a wonderful surprise. I was not expecting the food to be so delightfully tasteful. This place is great for a first date, lunch with a friend or a nice quite romantic dinner. It’s casual but the food is beyond casual. We sat at the bar and Amie waited on us. She was knowledgable and everything she suggested I ordered. I was content and pleased. This has became my favorite place for date night.

Workers were extremely friendly and welcoming! Didn’t have to wait for a table, which was very convenient. The food was really good and seemed very fresh– The sweet potato chips are a must! Great place to go with a group or meet up with a friend to visit!

I can’t tell you how the food was because the service was atrocious and we left. Note to owner, if your server can’t handle three(3) tables sat 5 minutes apart, maybe you should look for a new server. Did not acknowledge us at all.

I had the pot stickers which were awesome with a lost abbey beer which was excellent Had spinach salad which was also excellent Tuesday is ½ off bottle of wine night. Had two ladies next to me at bar which took advantage of this deal. If I hear«oh my god» one more time today … These women are going to be single valley girls for a bit more time. I honestly thought they were not allowed in Illinois . Bar tender was awesome. Like ohh my god I will come back. Kinda hipster for the area. Maybe the reasoning for the valley girl crowd Such a shame I will remember this joint for the crowd, not the excellent food service or atmosphere. Omg! No AMEX by the way…,$ 31.50 for 2 beers, salad and an appetizer special is a bit salty

Please let me clarify— BECAUSE I recieved a complaint from someone— that the ONLY reason I commented them being closed on a SATURDAY without a note, is that I drove 45 minutes from COLUMBIA, IL — – I DO understand that can happen with small businesses– but it’d be nice to have some kind of notice on the door or SOMETHING… especially when you close during NORMAL operating business hours.

First tiem to Bigelo’s Bistro in Edwardsville, IL. Located on Main Street — hard to find, but we found it. Our dear friend Jane Ward agreed to go with us for this new adventure. Rick had the Bigelo Sub, Jane had the pulled pork sandwich(which I thought looked huge!), and I had the BBQ chicken pasta. .. which was absolutely delicious! There were LOTS of chicken pieces in the pasta, along with tomatoes, mushrooms, onion, and the sauce. .. the sauce was amazing! They could put that pasta sauce on a sandwich. .. I’d purchase a dozen of those. We arrived at 5:15PM and the place was half full — but it soon filled up. I have a co-worker with me at Mercy that said he has been at least 50 times and LOVES the place. Said it is his favorite place in Edwardsville to eat and he grew up in Edwardsville. Our server was Amy and she was above and beyond! Super nice and so helpful since it was our first visit. So next time you are«Heading East» you do need to go to Bigelo’s Bistro in Edwardsville, IL.

Another great Beer Dinner at Bigelo’s! I love these events, this is the 4th one I have attended. They are so much fun. A great way to see and learn the art of pairing foods with specific beers. This dinner was with local micro brewery, Perennial Artisan Ales Beer. Cory King, the Brew Master of Perennial was present to explain each of the brews that were paired with the foods from Bigelo. These are the pairings we experienced: Ceviche Style Crab Salad, Corn Cake Beer: Saison DE Lis Merguez Slider, with caramelized onion and harissa mayo with creamy yogurt slaw. Beer: Hommel Rensing Farms Baby Back Ribs with Mole BBQ Sauce and Mashed Sweet Potatoes Beer: Abraxas Dessert: A custard type custard pie with rhubarb on top and a graham, walnut crust. Beer: Black Walnut Dunkel Stands out for this dinner were the Merguez Sliders and the Baby Back Ribs. The ribs truly were finger licking good. The sliders were a blend of two of my favorite meats; lamb and beef making me wanting a second slider. We’ll be going back for both of these delightful entrees. The only miss was the creamy yogurt slaw. I’ve had better from the deli counter at a grocery store and we all know what they are like. Overall, the Beer Dinners are always A+. You’ll always experience good food and great micro brewery beer. The servers are attentive, witty and make sure all in attendance have fun. It is always so cool to see familiar faces from previous dinners in attendance. Keep in mind these dinners sell out fast, so I suggest you watch Bigelo’s website for the next one and order your tickets fast. I will be there too in my usual seat.

I think I got a bad representation of Bigelo’s today… my visit was A-OK but judging from the comments I heard from friends beforehand, it should have been much better. My roommate from when I used to live in Chicago was in town(her family lives in Edwardsville) so we met at Bigelo’s for lunch. I had never actually been to EVille until then, and I was so impressed by their adorable Main Street! I saw a super cool wine bar down the street that I can’t wait to try, too. There was tons of parking(no meters, nice!) so I just had a quick 30 second walk to the place. Inside, it’s cute… no real rhyme to the rhythm, but it screams local business and has tables scattered throughout. It wasn’t too busy during lunch so we grabbed a spot right away… the server was really sweet and attentive, and first up was coffee. It was some of the best coffee I’ve had in a long time… no cream or sugar needed. Nice surprise! Here’s where the so-so stuff started to happen. Our waitress told us that their salad cooler was broken so we couldn’t order anything that was served cold… which was disappointing since I wanted a salad, and the cold sandwiches were also no longer an option. Sad! I decided on the hot veggie sandwich with a side of mixed vegetables. When the sandwich came out, it didn’t look all that appetizing… it was white bread topped with mushrooms, zucchini, spinach, and a few other things, and had an avocado spread kind of squirted out all over the top of it. The bread was way too much compared to the amount of vegetables, but it was alright. I really hate to say this, but then… I pulled a long hair out of one of the sandwich halves. It just made my stomach turn. I still ate the other half(with caution) but it just kind of ruined the meal. The vegetables on the side were A-OK but not seasoned very well. From what I hear from people in that area, Bigelo’s has a lot to offer. I would love to come back and try dinner and their awesome beer selection. Plus, I’m absolutely certain you can’t find a hair in beer!

Last night we made the trek to Edwardsville from North County to check out Bigelo’s Bistro. The restaurant was easy to find on Main and had tons of parking in the back. The restaurant was completely full and since there was no hostess stand, it was a little confusing trying to figure out how to get a table. Do we seat ourselves? Is someone going to greet us? While we tried to figure this out, a bunch of the patrons gave us weird looks. We made our way through the maze of tables and got back to the bar where we found out that we could put our name in with him. The wait was only about 15 minutes and we were seated at our table. I ordered a house salad, the BBQ chicken pasta, and couple Boulevard Wheats. The salad was good, but could have used a little more dressing. The BBQ pasta was a unique creation and tasted good. Jeremy ordered the same pasta, but got the broccoli cheese soup. He said it had a strong flavor of green pepper and didn’t care for it He also decided to try the carrot cake. He said it was pretty bland. It had whipped cream on the side so I decided to taste it. It was Cool Whip(or some other non-dairy whipped topping), not cool. The bartender and our waitress were friendly and quick. I think this is a great place for locals. If we lived nearby, we would probably visit frequently, but it is not worth the drive for us.

Bigelo’s has a good selection of sandwiches, salads, pastas, pizzas, meat entrees, beer, and wine. Near the corner of Main and Hillsboro, enter from the east«back» side, where there’s plenty of parking. If you’re visiting for the first time, try a sandwich with sweet potato chips, cut and fried on site. This time, I sampled a 7-inch Greek pizza, with a house salad, and 23-oz. Blue Moon beer(with an orange wedge, of course). P. S.: If you’re not sure whether you might like a particular draught beer, ask for a sample, and the bartender will gladly accommodate your request. P. P. S.: Our server was able to retrieve from the kitchen a list of gluten-free selections. Not quite the same as having a symbol printed on the standard menu, but it’s progress. Thanks BB.
