Kind of disgusting and the ingredients didn’t seem very fresh. I about died when I took my ice cream to the register and they weighed it. I felt like I was pretty conservative and my cup of frozen yogurt was over five dollars! We have a fabulous fabulous custard stand here in town called Homewood grill and it would’ve never been that expensive there and the quality is about 10 times better

Culture is awesome! The atmosphere is so cool. The frozen yogurt is delicious and they have so many toppings to choose from! The whole place is very clean and the bathrooms are extraordinarily clean. I love the spoons, also, because they change colors when they become cold. It’s a total must to stop at when in Effingham!

What an awesome atmosphere. Just enough variety to spark your tastebuds but not so many it takes a half day to decide. Numerous toppings to go with great tasting ice cream. The cool part is the spoons change color when they are cold!

Pretty much everywhere you go in the US, you’ll find tons of frozen yogurt shops — especially on the coasts. For a long time, though, the rural Midwest was an exception. It was always a little weird going back home to visit family and not seeing any frozen yogurt places. Culture changed that. Now, you can even get your frozen yogurt fix in the middle of rural Illinois. I’ve been to Culture twice now, and it’s really not bad. The shop is spacious, employees are friendly, and there’s a reasonable selection. However, there were a couple unusual things I noticed here that would never fly in a more competitive market. First off, there was no plain vanilla on either of my visits. I also didn’t see Reese’s peanut butter cups or a whipped cream dispenser. Considering that my go-to selection is vanilla with Reese’s, hot fudge, and whipped cream, I wasn’t too wild about Culture. I’ve only seen one froyo shop that didn’t have all those things(a place that used generic Reese’s peanut butter cups, gross!) — and they remedied it very quickly after opening. I probably won’t be back here unless I get dragged along by a relative, but aside from the few shortcomings mentioned above, it’s really not a bad little shop.

While I liked the atmosphere of the store, the froyo coming out of the dispensers was very melty and soupy. The three flavors I got(orange dreamsicle, fruity pebbles, and Greek strawberry) were all mediocre. Compared to other self serve froyo stores that I’ve been to(Yogurtland, Major Brain Freeze, Nubi, Lemon Drop, Menchie’s), the toppings selection was very small. Overall, I was rather disappointed by Culture.

Culture, the name alone made me cringe and I knew exactly what it was like — a hipster frozen yogurt bar like Pinkberry. I really wanted to hate this place, took a lot of nagging from my wife to actually go to Culture. Once inside it was winning me over; a sea of machines spitting out different flavors; vanilla to root beer float, strawberry to orange dreamsicle, which is what I got. Then there is a topping bar with everything from fresh fruit to Fruity Pebbles. You make it yourself, any way you want, complete freedom. After my first bite I was a complete convert to the new Culture movement! They have different rotating flavors every day, in addition to the usual mainstays. Don’t let this place fool you, you don’t need to have a handlebar moustache and drink Pabst Blue Ribbon to enjoy Culture. Is it trendy and upscale with a hipster vibe? Yes. Is it delicious? YES!
