Is it possible for a place in 2012 to sell two large pizzas for less than $ 14.00 and not have it suck? Damn it, yes it is at La Piazza! After driving up and down the Black Horse Pike going various places for almost a week we thought it was time to do a pizza run and definitely did not want to get it from the boardwalk as most places suck and the only things about those places that are legendary are their prices and their fake reputations. I called and while there was a lot of background noise on their side I was able to figure out that he said they were busy and that it would be half an hour. At about the 25 minute mark I showed up and immediately figured out that the background noise was the TV as it was turned up to the volume level of a jet engine. The pizzas themselves clearly had been sitting for a while and while they were still warm they definitely were not hot and the 30 minute time estimate was clearly way, way off. On a sidebar, they do have a small cooler inside to get some drinks for take-out and there is a full menu of your typical«Italian specialties» but this place is very much take-out only as it is super small on the inside. As for the pizza itself, it was a little on the greasy side but it had a decent cheese/sauce ratio while the crust was surprisingly soft and not burnt or overdone as so many places seem to do. Overall La Piazza is nothing more than a tiny hole in wall locals only type of place on the Black Horse Pike, but it’s also solid in what it does and the price truly can’t be beat for what you get.
