The setting of the Shallows Resort is breath taking. Every second of watching Green Bay was astounding. From sleeping at night and hearing the water break against the rocks, or seeing the geese and ducks out and about around the lake, or watching a sunset that literally stopped me in my tracks — this place is MAGICAL! It was our first, but certainly not last, visit to the Shallows Resort. This was our first time to Door County, and glad we picked this location. They are dog friendly and we brought our 4-legged. The entire staff is so friendly, informative and warm. The Shallows Resort has different accommodations on the property, and we stayed in the«Beach House»; which is 4 units in a building. Each unit has an upstairs/downstairs. We loved our unit. Balconies galore and every unit has their own grill. The kitchenette was stocked with utensils, dishware, wine opener, BBQ utensils, toaster/coffee maker/dishwasher/etc. We stayed for 4 days, but wish it was 40! They offer free bikes, tennis, basketball, kayaking(weather permitting). There are so many nooks and crannies of seating to watch the Bay. You can go off on your own or hang w/your friends, family or other guests. Our favorite way to end each evening, was at the bonfire. Bob, Liz, Terry, Bill and EVERYONE at the Shallows made us feel right at home. These memories will stay with me! I miss this place and we are already planning to return this Autumn.

Shallows cottage is 100% worth it and i loved it. Right on the lake where you can wake up and hear the waves on the shore. Quiet and peaceful. Kind helpful staff. Perfect for families and they do allow dogs which is kind of nice — though we don’t have a dog. My whole family loved it there. We will be returning!

Been coming here since I was a little girl. It is my happy place. The owners have become friends and we have made lifelong family friends. Love everything about it, just wish they had some sort of work out room!

We stayed at The Shallows this summer during our annual trip to Door County. We normally stay at the Firefly Cottage on the lake side but last minute planning on our part left us without lodging for our Saturday night so we decided to try a «resort» for our final evening. The Shallows is a cute property with a groomed lawn and a lot of repeat business from families. As we were checking in, another woman was checking out who had been coming to the resort every year since she was a little girl. Cute. Very Door County. Sometimes the whole peninsula reminds me of a scene from Dirty Dancing but that’s for another review. We upgraded to a shoreside room. I think I felt like we were paying a little more than the room was worth but it was high season so that’s to be expected. The pool was nice, we spent a little time there and met a nice family and we donated our floating loungers when we left. The hotel also allows dogs!!! So that was a great plus for us and we were able to negotiate the pet fee down a little comparatively to other resorts in the area. While it wasn’t as liberating for Frank as the private cottage, I think he still had an fine time. The best part of this place is their free bike loaners. We didn’t think enough of the other patrons utilized them. We had what we both note as our best night of the summer — maybe even year — riding our bikes into Egg Harbor and back for dinner and drinks with pit-stops a the Alpine Resort of course. We road back under moonlight and I feel corny saying this but it was actually quite magical. The showers seemed to have been recently updated and you can tell the place is cared for, if heavily trafficked in the high season. Another plus: there is a beach(rocky) that is right on the property and there is a long dock to enjoy. If you like a sandy beach, there is a public beach right down the road. We spent the day there and it was a perfect summer beach day. You will have a great time as a family or just a couple with their dog.

Though I didn’t stay at the Shallows I have to give my appreciation to the manager for going above and beyond for customer service. I was staying up the road at a friend’s cottage arriving late one night with no saline solution. All stores were closed but the resort manager went out of his way to find some solution for me simply out of kindness. How great would it be if all establishments were as generous and thoughtful as the staff at Shallows!

This resort is beautifully kept. Attention to the rooms and the grounds is evident everywhere you turn. Very, Very clean and well kept up. Rooms are pristine and up to date. Beautiful grounds that are watered and swept every morning. The pool was nice — open from 9 to 9. Bikes and a fire pit were nice. Beautiful sunsets! The cons: — the beach — or lack of it. Although they are on the waterfront there is no possible way of accessing the lake. I promised my kids boats and kayaking — it was not possible. There is no sand, no beach — trying to drag a kayak across sharp slippery rocks for 40 feet was not possible — believe me we tried. Also when you do get to the water it is filled with rocks — there was no way to even wade in it to get wet.

Immaculate! How is it that there are no cobwebs in the rafters? I was not hesitant to walk barefoot on the room I was sharing with my sisters. The continental breakfast is not adequate unfortunately so be prepared to go out for breakfast if a tiny bagel and weak coffee is not enough. We found the room coffee was a better start to the day. Bring shoes to protect your feet from the rocks and slime that covers the shore. We figured out how to drag the free kayaks to the end of the pier so we didn’t have to touch the slime. Once out on the lake an evening paddle was a wonderful way to watch a breathtaking sunset. I will be back with water shoes in tow.
