Big 5 Sporting Goods

This place isn’t so bad. You can find some pretty darn good outdoor deals here from time to time if you watch the specials.
I’ve never had a problem with the staff here, they’ve always been kind and helpful even when it came to pricing discrepancies.
The layout is pretty easy to navigate although easy to get lost in. They have tons of shoes, camping gear, knives, hunting gear, athletic wear, etc.
Over the course of time I’ve purchased a couple knives, gloves and some sleeping bags. Like I said, the specials are pretty much what I come in for since there can be some pretty solid deals. You won’t find as much «boutique» stuff as you will over at REI but you also won’t find the associated «boutique» prices either.
So for the occasional visit, this place isn’t bad.

I have been in the store twice in the past two weeks to inquire about an inversion table. Each time I went to the front desk and ask for assistance because the item is heavy and I had questions. Both times the clerk said they would page help for me to go wait in the back. I did as instructed and neither time did anybody ever come back and ask if they could help me.
I had other items which I was going to purchase. After receiving such poor customer service I walked out of the store. The most recent time, which with tonight, the clerk additionally help me saw me walking out of the store and said nothing.
Section of the shoe department, I have never received good service in the store. I will not be returning to the store again.

The manager Josh has the best customer service by far! It was a simple exchange, but he made the experience very pleasent.

I thought I liked Big 5, but it turns out they stick it to their customers. I’ll never darken their door or spend a dime at Big 5 again. The air pump inside an air mattress when bad. I’ve only used it 4 or 5 times since I bought it earlier this year. They refused to give me an exchange. They said they have a 30 day return policy. The return policy is NOT mentioned on their receipts. They said they had no obligation to publish their return policy. Well, I have no obligation to spend money at their stores! I’ve spent 1,000’s of dollars at their stores over the past 22 years for my kids and myself. And this is the loyalty they show to their customers. Big 5 customer loyalty sucks! Goodbye Big 5!

I went here yesterday and bought a new bat. Great price for a great bat but that’s about it. The customer service here is a damn joke. People, if you do not like your job… QUIT! The blonde who checked me out yesterday at the left register could honestly be the biggest, well I will keep this family friendly. Lets just say she was not a «personable» person. I will not go back to this place, just give my business from now to Dicks or Sports Authority!

Okay store. Seems a bit packed and cluttered. The service is okay. Some times I get help right away other times it is hard finding staff on the floor who can help you. The parking is a little narrow and pulling in and out is bit of choir.

I’m writing to balance the ridiculous one star ratings. I have been here many times and have always found great items at good prices– specifically their knives, glasses and shoes. Usually service is top notch!

This place is NOT the place to get all of your sporting goods. I would rather cross the main road to Dick’s and get what I need because
1) The place is cluttered.
2) They have like 20 employees working and not one of them says hello or is ready to assist you.
3) Their deals aren’t even that great.

I went in this morning to inquire about a product. I asked the salesperson a couple of questions about a Mossin Naganet antique Russian Rifle. His replies were short & then turned his back and walked away. It’s pretty much what I expected, i.e. Big 5 is just not the place to go for a firearm. Customer service was awful. I will not return there for anything.

I brought back a ‘lock blade’ knife that didn’t lock properly,
they replaced it no problem AND told my how to fix it if that happened again.
The check-​out lady is a riot and very good at her job.

Good buy on running shoes especially when there is a coupon but selection is limited.
Staff is a little wierd, the last time I was in there was a girl selling items to their customers inside the store. One of the clerks said something to the assistant manager about this and he said he didn’t care, found that a little wierd.

Been here for as long as I can remember. Always my go to when I need athletic shoes, or sports equipment. Not as big as the large chains, namely the one across the street, but the prices are great, and the service is a good as well. Always have some kind of sale going on, and they are now emailing discount coupons on a weekly basis. I will continue to be a patron here for years to come.
