Geary Floors

Geary Floors is an excellent company who does great work. They are a local, family-​owned business with many years of experience. Sean, Matt, and all the people on their team are professional, courteous, friendly, honest, and hard-​working. I had them install hardwood flooring in the majority of my home over the summer and their bid was competitive, they completed the job in the time frame quoted, did a great job communicating during the entire process, and, most importantly, did a wonderful job on the floors. They will be the first (and only) people I call when I am ready to install flooring in my last three bedrooms. I recommend them highly.

Totally Disappointed!
We have been in our home 15 years. It has original hardwood floors from 1958. The floors are in good shape, just didn’t have any finish on them anymore. After being here 15 years, we finally decided to take the leap and get them refinished. Hooray! Right? Not so much…
Matt came out to give me a quote. I liked him. He was friendly and easy to talk to. He explained the process.
–We would need to move everything out ourselves, as they do not offer furniture moving. No problem. We hired movers.
–It would take 3 days from start to finish, with a few days additional to cure and settle. Perfect! We had family coming ion from out of town, and timing was perfect!
–They would use a water based finish as opposed to oil base so that we wouldn’t have to move out, and it would be safe for our dogs. Fantastic! Who needs the extra expense of a hotel and kennel for boarding the dogs.
–They could match the stain to any color we wanted. Hooray! There would be no transition between my wood floors and the laminate flooring in my family room.
Price was right and I clicked with Matt, let’s do it!
Techs came out. They were nice and I felt comfortable with them in my home.
On Day 2, I asked when the satin goes on. They looked at me with big eyes and said that Matt had told them there was to be «NO STAIN» and that the wood was to be «NATURAL». WHAT!!! Ok, breathe…
I promptly called Matt and he said he made a mistake and communicated the wrong thing to his Tech’s and that it could easily be fixed by starting all over, re-​sanding the floors and applying the stain color. I freaked! I had guests coming into town and staying with us. This was going to interfere with the completion date and arrival. He offered to leave it ‘as is” until after my guests left and then they could come back out and re-​do it all over from sanding to staining. It took me 15 years to get to this point, hired movers to move furniture out and then back in, and now we were going to have to hire them to move it out and back in again? He then offered to reduced the cost of the job for his mistake from $ 2500, to $ 1500 if we just left it without stain. I took the discount, because honestly, I just couldn’t be bothered anymore, and I just wanted my house back together.
This job was completed in May, and it is now September. It took me several months to write this, because I wanted the dust to settle and try to see if I had a change of feelings. But I don’t. This was a big deal to us a homeowners and I wanted nothing more than to love my floors. I don’t. I see the transition in colors, and it still upsets me.
I am a local business owner in the same community as Geary Floors, and I truly try to support other small businesses in my area– another reason I went with them. I planned on raving about them and recommending them to my family and friends. I cannot do that. How do you mess up when the work order specifically says, «STAIN»?
I will try to post photos on here. You will see the transition as well as an area that looks horrible, where they should have replaced the floor boards for the $ 15 each, as quoted on my work order. Instead, they just refinished the area.

These guys were great. They stuck to the the original quote and were willing to work with our crazy schedule. They came in early and stayed late on the due date to finish up. Everything is flat and looks good. We have an older house with less than optimal walls that are not square. They did a great job. I would use them, and most likely will for future projects.

We had Geary Floors put in new engineered hardwood at our turnkey home in 4S ranch. ‘Big Sean’ (as he likes to be called) helped us pick out the right material and gave helpful advice on the size and color options we chose. This was our first install.
Big Sean and team demo’d our prior carpet/​tile (working on a joint timeline to support our painters and stone workers), grind-​ed our slab, and performed our installation, using some very experienced guys. The floor looks fantastic and the best part was that Big Sean and team were able to save our custom baseboards — not an easy task! They removed all of the baseboards and re-​installed them exactly without any damage.
The transitions to tile and carpet are great and Big Sean even came back personally for a few trips to check on the floor and answer all of our questions. These guys did a great job and are very responsive.

Geary Floors brought back our 60 year old hardwood floors that had been covered with carpet for many years and were very damaged. They were efficient, very reasonable and professional! We have already recommended them to family and friends.

The Geary team refinished the floors on my 1915 home beautifully. They were detail oriented and responsive to my questions throughout the process. The job took just under a week, and the team gave me an update each day of work done and next steps. They were meticulous in prepping the rooms before the job began and in final clean up. Terrific job and really nice guys.
