How sad this place closed! It was a pretty decent Greek Buffet and there’s NONE of those in San Diego!

Phone # disconnected, Sign on the door saying«Closed for 2 weeks», previously seen full of old men smoking and playing cards at all the tables with the buffet line gone? Sounds like this place went BK, Too bad! Anybody else notice?

Gave it a 2 star because the baklava and rice pudding were good. They also had this potato, beef, béchamel sauce dish that was yummy. Otherwise, it’s not worth the price. There is a reason why you don’t find many Greek buffets, it’s just better fresh.

Highly disappointed! There was a group of 6 of us going to eat here for a birthday. 2 of our group had eaten there before and enjoyed it. I’ll be honest I’ve had Daphnes but thats the only Greek I’ve had and I was really looking forward to it. When we arrived the place was full of tables full of older gentlemen in suites playing cards(poker assumedly) and the place was FULL of smoke! Gross! While we stood outside figuring out a Plan B a gentleman came out and let us know that they are no longer buffet yet still have«some» menu options, but we didnt feel very welcomed to come in and eat. We left and ate elsewhere. Needless to say dont waste your gas going to this Greek«buffet» because it is non existant.

Ironically, I’m giving Greek Town four stars, despite the news they have closed the Buffet and went strictly to menu service. GT was a semi-regular Saturday lunch choice for my wife and I since moving to San Diego in 2005. At times, consistency was an issue, but overall the quality of the food and service kept us coming back. We drove to El Cajon last Saturday, the 20th of October, for our regular fix to find the signage had been changed to Greek Town Restaurant-Grill, with the word Buffet removed. It looked as if there was a private party with something like 40 – 50 older men, who only appeared to be smoking and drinking water. Someone met us at the door and stated the Buffet was not going to be served anymore. He did mention they were serving off the menu, but didn’t exactly invite us inside. If this is the case, we are sad to see the changes. I’m not sure if the costs were too much to maintain the Buffet or if their changes had driven customers to eat elsewhere. Regardless, we will miss it.

I love this place. I’ve been coming here for the last 4 years. It gets better and better every time. They have a great selection of dishes for meat-eaters and vegetarians. If you’re ever around the El Cajon area, I recommend stopping in for a great meal.

I was looking for a good gyro in town and I’ve driven by this place several times. So I thought I’d give it a shot. It had pretty good flavor, but it was also the smallest gyro I’ve ever had in my life. It had more tomato, onion, and green and red peppers(peppers??? that’s a first) than meat. Tasted ok, but highly disappionting!

last Friday we accidentally but to our LUCK ended up at Greek Town restaurant buffet. I am always turned off by the word Buffet, but this is the exception! I loved this place. The food is fresh, it’s warm, you can tell they don’t mass produce the food on the buffet table, as they kept coming out with warm food to fill the empty trays. the food is so delicious! I loved the chicken slovakia, it’s like grilled chicken but the marinade is phenomenal !!. I will definitely be back. and I will bring my daughter with me once more. This might become a favorite place for us. The price isn’t bad, I know some have complained about paying eleven dollars for lunch, but for the quality of the food it’s not bad. Drink is included in the price of the meal.

My friends and I try to get together once a month and one of us decided we should try this buffet. She just thought it was so interesting to go to a Greek buffet. We arrived about a half hour before the others showed up and were just hanging out in the car talking. In that span of time I only saw two people walk out of the restaurant, but nobody went in. I kept saying that to my friend and finally dropped it when she asked if she should start to worry. I said, «Hey if they have an A rating they must be good, right?» Anyway, our friends finally arrived and inside we went. The restaurant was dark inside, but I loved all the murals on the walls. Some other reviewers called this look«cheesy», but I loved it. it gave the restaurant it’s character. We were created by a very friendly waiter who told us to get our plates of food and sit anywhere. We actually found a table by the window and then dashed to the buffet.(I’m still muttering under my breath that I hope more people show up). The food was plentiful and hot. One side of the buffet had the hot foods, like lemon chicken, souvlaki, gyros, and an incredible bbq chicken dish. The chicken a nice char and it was in some type of sauce. DANG it was good. The other side of the buffet had the salads, olives, pita chips, tzaziki sauce, feta cheese, and other greeky condiments. Did I mention the olives? They were outstanding little nuggets that just melted in your mouth. Of course, you had to de-seed it first, but zingggggg! I’m not a big sweets fan, so I hesitated with the dessert bar, although I was really jonesing for some great baklava. I tried the baklava and much to my dismay it was burned on the bottom. I’m surprised they served it. The dessert bar had the token baklava, some type of custard square with loads of cinnamon, a creamy and sweet rice dish, fresh fruit, and jello. My friends got their fill. I have to say for picking a place that none of us had ever heard of, our gamble paid off. I enjoyed the food and the company and the waiter was attentive to when our glasses were empty and when we needed our dirty plates cleared. So were we happy? Uh-huh! Very!

I came here with a friend since we were both craving some Greek and found a Sign On San Diego deal for it. It’s buffet style and includes all you can eat gyros, pita, greek salad, pilaf, baklava amongst other items. All in all it was okay. I might go again if I was in the area, but probably not drive out there on a whim.

It sounds good on paper… Belly Dancers, Greek food, Buffet all for the low price of $ 11.99 but I will never come back here willingly. Went to a bday party here on Saturday and literally asked my husband, where the hell are we? when he parked. It’s a random strip mall location on Main near the end of El Cajon Blvd. When we walked in I had to remind myself not to be rude and shut my dropped jaw. Décor is just so fake, super cheesy, dusty, 90s, ridiculous. I felt like I dropped into that movie Big Fat Greek Wedding. The place is also pretty small, especially considering there is a «stage», a buffet and a dance«floor» for the bellydancer. The music is LOUD. It’s loud and it is all keyboard, synthetic sounds and synth drums. That reminds me — Tip: check in on Unilocal here and u get a free wine for you and a friend! Stoked! Food — Salad was like floating on a layer of water. Yuck. Had that with feta, onions, beets, olives, italian dressing was weird tasting. So was ranch. Pat & Oscars beats this«authentic» homestyle Greek salad by leaps and bounds. Sad! I would love to review a ton of different food, but even though I went up 2 – 3 times, so many trays of food remained empty, I never got to try most stuff. I did love the Greek Chicken, Gyro meat was a tad on a salty side, pita was a bit too toasty/hard in the middle. Everything was just ho hum — rice, hummus, babaganouj, veggies were watery. Everything was WATERY so annoying. Even the baklava was watery and mushy on the bottom… seriously did the ceiling sprinklers go off in the kitchen before they put all the food out for the night!!! Luckily my kid was stoked on the fries, bland veggies and jello. and luckily i had that free glass of wine… especially because a large and in charge mexican? belly dancer came out and scared me with her thundery cellulite doused rendition of a partially dressed woman in an earthquake. I get it all belly dancers aren’t hot hot, but oh man. Amazeballs — Greek chicken Bummer — LOUD bad«music» — You would be better off playing Greek music on an ipod boombox dealy, the water in my food gets a big huge BOO, and for goodness sakes… REFILLYOURTRAYS that was atrocious.

My family and I have visited Greek Town Buffet 3 times in the past year. The other visits were ok, but last night really sucked. Each dish I grabbed from the buffet tasted watered down and flavorless. The hummus had less flavor than oatmeal. Some dishes at the buffet shouldn’t even count as edible: for instance there was a dish labeled: steamed vegetables which was a few slices of zucchini and cauliflower floating in an ocean of water. The babganouj was also watery and boring. My Dad and Wife agreed that the food went downhill since our last visits. The food by itself was easily a one star, maybe a 2 star affair. Second there was a constant shortage of everything. When we arrived there were no forks. Pita bread was missing for about 20 minutes. Our table didn’t have napkins even. One star for poor preparation. Last time I liked the greek style rice pudding. This time it was flavorless like everything else. One star for deserts. Finally the night was accompanied by a keyboard playing musician. I’ve heard this fellow in the past and he was ok. Last night his keyboard was on max volume, making it impossible to talk to my wife or Dad. Sometimes that’s a good thing, but it got irritating listening to synthetic keyboard tones for an hour. One star for terrible ambiance.

Great price for a buffet. The food was bland and it didn’t look nor taste fresh. The server was cordial and did the bottom line: pre-set a large group table(but with awkward empty space at the end — different tables could have been joined so we wouldn’t have empty table space) and set out water jugs(that were never re-filled and I couldn’t find our server). The restaurant was empty except for a 3-top which arrived half-way through our dinner.

We decided to drive out to give this place a try since my mom loves Greek food, and it was ok, but I probably wouldn’t go back. The buffet price was good, the service was friendly, and the place was packed on a Saturday night, but to me, the food was just ok, and the music was too loud. The highlights were the Greek chicken, chicken souvlaki and pita w/baba ghanoush. The rest was just ok, often tasted mushy(like the green beans and the insides of the dolmades) or dried out(meat souvlaki) or not too flavorful(pastistio, spanakopita). I ordered a glass of wine, and the good news was that it was a generous pour, the bad news was that it was one of the worst wines I’ve ever tasted; totally undrinkable. But, they did take it off the bill when I asked. On a positive note, the kids liked the pita, hummus, fresh veggies and jello and fresh fruit at the dessert bar.

We passed by this place and had to stop for a Greek buffet(something unheard of in our hometown) and were incredibly impressed. The chicken has the most wonderful citrus flavor and the tzatziki was addicting. I would have preferred it be a couple dollars less for the dinner buffet, but at $ 12 I still can’t complain. It was a wonderful experience and we will be back again. Especially to try out their hookah patio!

Just a solid overall Greek buffet. Chicken slouvaki was particularly tender and flavorful. Anything with bottomless gyros meat, it’s hard not to give at least 3-stars to. My friend Paul had 3 plates and really liked the Baklava. Kudos, Greek Town.

LOVE this PLACE!!! We’re regulars, try to stop by once every few weeks. The service is wonderful, very friendly, very attentive. The gyro meat is always fresh, as is the pita bread. Warm and tasty. The salad bar is always stocked and FRESH! They offer everything from hummus, tzaziki sauce, olives, sliced beets, big chunks of fetta… mmm mmm… The dessert bar is the BEST! Has delicious baklava, rice pudding with cinnamon sprinkled over the top, fresh fruit and jello. I drive all the way from the south bay just to come eat here. It is by far my fave greek restaurant/buffet.

Okay, so I went out driving on Christmas Day looking for Christmas Dinner and ended up semi lost 25 miles from home in Down Town El Cajon. I saw this buffet open and stopped in to check out the buffet table. The food was nicely priced and they had a to go price by the pound. 3.99 per pound lunch time, 5.99 per pound dinner time. It was lunch and I picked up four pounds of food and asked for directions back to a highway. The nice staffer came outside with me and pointed me home. THEFOODWASAWESOME. Will be back for sure.

We came here randomly in search of a buffet. We got turned away from Sycuan because we had a 17 year old with us. Apparently you can’t bring in minors even for buffet. I was really satisfied by the variety of food. Good salad and hummus, and I really enjoyed the gyro meat and yogurt sauce. The best was the Greek chicken and rice pilaf! Really yummy. There was keyboard entertainment but that was it on a saturday night while we were there.

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome. I’m often skeptical of buffets because the food’s not so fresh. No problem here. The buffet is small but they have everything. They keep it small so that the portions stay fresh, and they restock it constantly. Some of the best Greek food I’ve ever had, and it’s all you can eat for just $ 9.99 at lunch! Fabulously tender gyro meat, stuffed grape leaves, souvlaki, spanikopita, baklava, pita bread, cucumber salad, feta, hummus, meatballs, lemon potatoes, tons of fresh veggies, roasted chicken, falafel, and so on. Very kid friendly as well. Nice atmosphere as well with greek music and grape vines strewn about. One of the best deals in all of San Diego by far!
