Sorry to say that P/C’s Bookstore has closes their doors for good. So sad. Their friendly faces we’re a highlight of my visits.

My sister in law has been a customer for years she now suffers from an illness and we went in today she turned in her exchange books and asked the old woman behind counter if she could use the bathroom. We had just got done with doctor appointment, the lady said something that we both interpreted as ok. The younger lady whom my sister in law loves by the way came in and noticed someone going into bathroom and she knew right away who it was. Then the old lady had a fit saying she never said it was ok. The other woman said she is a really good customer the old lady said I don’t care i did not say it was ok. I again repeated that we asked when we came in and she said No you didn’t! Then told the younger one she is going to let her have it when she gets out. I said no you are not going to yell at her. As soon as she came out I told my sister in law that she was upset and her response was she said it was ok. Well we just took her other books back and needless to say you lost a great customer. The younger one who is nice we could tell felt bad but I guess the old one is the owner. Maybe the woman should be a little kinder to people and looking at other comments it wasn’t just us who had an issue with her.

I had a friend visiting from out of town and she wanted to check this place out — I can’t believe I did not know about this gem! They have great selection over a large number of subjects and the store owner was not only very friendly and helpful, but also extremely knowledgeable about a wide variety of topics. My friend is a school teacher and she stocked up on books to take back to Florida. The prices were very reasonable too!

I love this bookstore. It’s quaint and friendly. There’s even a cat there to greet you. No matter the genre you’re looking for, you’ll find it. At times they may not have the exact book you’re looking for but there’s many others to choose from. I’ve read the comments about the older lady and I must say she has been nothing but friendly and helpful to me. Always willing to help me find the book I’m looking for or makes suggestions for others I might like. Maybe she’s nice to me because I don’t complain about the price of books :) Give them a try. You’ll like them.

Extremely small, and very overpriced. This bookstore charges ½ the price or more of what you can buy the book new. That’s way too much for a used book store. If I want to spend 9.99 for a book that is normally $ 14.99 in a bookstore… I will just get it in better condition off of Amazon. The younger lady, who I assume is the owner or manager of the store is very sweet, and very helpful. The old one is quite rude. She sits in a chair and reads. Then when you ask her a question she rolls her eyes as she puts her bookmark back in to listen to you. I stopped going here to look for specific titles because of her. That is the only way I will go to this bookstore is if I cannot find a specific title elsewhere. Usually they don’t have it here either, as their collection is REALLY small.

PC’s is a great little bookstore tucked away in the Long’s shopping center in El Cajon. After the one on Main street closed, so did JJ’s and LL in Rancho San Diego; this is the last used book store in El Cajon. It’s a teeny little place and smells kind of funny with a bunch of old cats and old people running around, but they have a great selection of books. The place is not overwhelming like other book stores, but could be a little more organized. I’ve found great books there, like Arabian Nights. I’d been looking for that for a long time. I love coming here when I’m in the neighborhood. The jewlery store a few doors over, Duddenhoeffer, is AWESOME. Give them a browse after PC’s.
