Their Zumba classes on MWF evenings and Saturday mornings are great. I work(and go to church on Sunday) so I can’t make it to morning sessions. They are only $ 7 but they only take cash which can be a downer. That’s why I took one star off.

This place is great. Growing up in the area, I used to have PE classes at the pool. Basically a bunch of Middle Schoolers let loose on a newly remodeled pool with a pool slide! Best PE time ever. But now as I’ve grown older, my little sister has come to utilize the Community Center and it’s many programs. From the piano classes to summer programs, the El Cerrito Community Center is just that, a center where people from all around the community can join in and bond together.

El Cerrito has a lot of hidden gems. The community center and recreation department on Moeser Lane is one of them. In paying my property taxes, I noticed that in addition to all the bonds, I pay a $ 40/year assessment to the«El Cerrito SWMCTR». My response«El Cerrito has a pool?» Yes, they have had a newly remodeled pool for 5 years(paid for by taxes and a minimal daily use fee). The recreation center also has a lot of programs for kids including life-guard classes and summer and winter camps. They also offer a number of art or exercise classes for adults. I obviously need to take more advantage of the facility. It is a great asset to the community. I was in the community center tonight for a course and was generally impressed with the facility. It definitely rings of the 50’s(wood paneling and all) but has a couple multi-purpose rooms and a gym in addition to the pool and recreation department office.
