Poor Red’s is open under new management! My Dad always took us by there back in the 1960s. They did close down for a long time. They have new owners and are back open again!

Went to dinner there on a Wednesday night. It was pretty crowded for the middle of the week. Of course we had to start off with the Gold Cadillac. My Wife and I split the Wedge Salad which was great. We then split a half rack of the famous ribs. Best Ribs in the History of Poor Red’s. Our Waitress Heather then offered us the Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. It wasn’t on the menu so of course we had to try it. Shortcake was a perfect way to top of the evening. The staff there was very attentive. Heather was always making sure are drinks were topped off and we had everything we needed. We really enjoyed the entire experience there. Our plan is to bring some of our friends there next week so they can enjoy the same experience we had.

Haven’t been there in years didn’t know what to expect. The remodel looks fabulous, so well done. We went there yesterday afternoon 5÷26÷2016. Everything was perfect, the ribs had great sauce, had to mop my fries in the dribbles. The garlic fries were not over powered with garlic and salt-just right. The gold cadillacs were big and yummy. Our server Nicole was really nice and efficient. Parking works well in the little town. Can’t wait to go again. It was as good as it gets for us.

Thank Goodness! I’ve been waiting and glad the wait is over. The renovations are amazing, whoever did the work kept the ambiance of the old and certinaly brought in the new. Food was good, not great, but FAR superior to what it was. Let’s face it, you don’t go here to eat. You go to sit at the bar, or on the patio. Job well done Reds!

A few years ago, I visited Poor Red’s and the food was despicable. Yesterday, I returned to some good Bar-B-Q and too sweet for me Golden Cadillacs. Be prepared to spend about $ 50. per adult for a full rack of pork ribs, fries, small salad and one GC. The biggest down side to re-visiting this hole in the wall from my college days was all the loud mouth weekend bikers and their over-tattooed wives and girlfriends. These customers drink and drink and eat and eat making the new owner’s Jeff and Mike Genovese glad they took the risk to renovate and expand the old place. The food is better than the Purple Place, near EDH, operated by the managing partner of Poor Red’s. Hell, I am thinking of opening up a business nearby Poor Red’s just to take some of the overflow business from Poor Red’s. What should it be? A tattoo parlor, a massage parlor, or a fortune teller? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

this restaurant/bar was a favorite of ours for years until they closed. they reopened april 2016 with new owners. we checked their website and arrived at 4:30. come to find out, they don’t serve dinner until 5. bar was jammed with no place to sit. we left. it would have been nice if their web site reflected that we couldn’t get into the dining room until 5. About 8 wait staff standing around doing nothing — waiting til 5, i guess. parking is in back.

Five stars for the memories. This was my first real job out of high school. My interview was… funny. Dave asked me some good questions. Do you have a girlfriend and so it went from there. You had to know Dave. Questions were personal. Lol! I don’t know what he saw in a kid like me but gave me the job. Thanks Dave. The waitresses were spot on awesome. Just awesome. Dave’s wife(Debbie?) could charm your shoes off your feet and you’d walk home barefoot gladly. Dang, forgot the dishwasher name. He sold me to go into the Air Force. He said«go see the world while you can». So I did. It WAS good food back in 1988. Sorry to hear what happened.

CLOSED April 2014 Owner’s sentenced to jail May 12, 2014 for tax evasion. Future of restaurant unknown. RIP: the drinks were strong in the ‘90s, the food was always a waste of time but you were too drunk to know it was bad.

I THINKTHEYAREOUTOFBUSINESS! I have gone out there 2 times in the last month but have been disappointed to find them closed(on weekends). Call before you make the trek out there, cuz it’s a shitty place to be if your hungry and they are closed(the boonies). I hope they aren’t closed for good.

We went to Poor Red’s with some friends who said that this was the first time that they had been there before heading out to wine taste. Walked in and the place is definitely«rustic.» It looks like it’s been around forever and appears to be hopping any time of the day or night — don’t be surprised what happens here… We ordered a pair of their signature drink, the Golden Cadillac — these are good and go down really easy. While we only hung around for a short time(only because we had a couple places that we needed to get to), there were definitely signs that the party was ramping up. There was a group of girls up on the top side that a couple rounds of shots got dancy(on their chairs, the bar, etc). We need to swing by when we’ve more time to hang and drink.

Stopped in with my 14yo son to use a Groupon deal that I purchased. Was greeted as we walked in and shown to the dining area in the back. Ordering was easy and our waitress gladly accepted our Groupon printout as we ordered. We got the Appetizer Sampler platter(Onion Rings, Jalapeño Poppers, Mozzarella Sticks) and both of us ordered the Baby Back Ribs. Our Dinner Salads came quickly, but we waited over 5 minutes to get something to eat them with. Our waitress came out to ask if something was wrong with the salads when she noticed… Honest mistake… The salad, basic bagged Iceburg, shredded carrots, red cabbage stuff with a couple of sliced beets on top. The Appetizer Platter was ok, not to greasy for the basic fried varieties. Seamed a little pricey for what you get… Dinner came and the more I reflect on it, the more I feel let down. The Baked Potato came loaded with butter and chives, with sour cream on the side. Both my son and I dug out the chives… Don’t like them, wish they would have asked when we ordered. The ribs, well lets put it this way, I like to eat them off the bone, not grab the bone and lift it right out of the meat. Both of our racks basically fell apart soon as we touched them. We ate the«Shredded Pork» with a fork. The Rack seamed a bit short as well, maybe 5 – 6 ribs, not a full rack. For $ 21.00, I would expect a Full Rack. Waited forever to get refills on water. All, in all, I have had way better ribs just about everywhere else. Only saving grace was that I am glad I had the Groupon to use… I hope the owners can take this feedback and adjust accordingly.

I really hesitate to give any place a bad review — we all have our bad days — but this was just a horrible experience. Stopped by the Friday after Thanksgiving to have a drink and some appetizers at about 4 in the afternoon. There were 4 of us. 2 spots at the bar nearest the entry, and the female bartender was great — quick, friendly, efficient. 4 spots opened at the other end of the bar so we paid her, tipped her, and moved. The male aged Elvis-wannabe bartender stared us down as if we were thieves for taking his stools. We ordered a mixed app plate from him when he finally asked if we needed anything after we’d been sitting there about 15 minutes. My sister-in-law had their house drink, a «Cadillac» that is served in the old shallow champagne glasses with a regular glass full of the extra from the blender. When she poured some more into her glass, it spilled(of course, it was frozen fluid that comes out in a gush). Neither the bartender or the barback came with a towel to clean it up. We all donated our napkins. There was about an inch left in the glass and the barback took it away without asking if she was done. We had been there about an hour at this point, so we just finished our drinks and left … don’t know what happened to the app plate. People who came in and ordered after us got theirs, but we never saw ours.

Horrible! Waited ½ hour to have our order taken. Waited 45 minutes to have food delivered to our table. Waited 30 minutes for our check. This explains this problems with POORREDS:
The person that took our order never came back to our table. I saw her cooking in the kitchen! Do NOT go there unless the place is under new management.

Dropped in for lunch today after finding Chicago Pizza across the street was out of business. I have eaten there several times, but this is the first review of Poor Red’s that I have posted. Ordered a prime rib dip sandwich. Meat was good, but they have to reconsider the bun which doesn’t hold up to the dip. In my opinion a chewer, more substancial, bun should be considered by the owners. The french fries, which came with the sandwich, were well done and HOT! Previous reviews which state that the place needs a facelift are so far off target as to be dangerous. Red’s is what it is. It is an old landmark that should not be fooled around with. If you want spotless and modern drive to the nearest large hospital and have lunch in their sterile dining room.

My friend, «You really want me to take you to Poor Red’s, huh?» Insert giggles here. She then replied, «I will not be held responsible for anything that happens to you.» There’s a big olé barn to park your vehicle(since you are going to Red’s, preferably it will be a Harley) and a nice long bar for you to saddle up to. There’s theater style seating on one side, seemingly for those waiting for a table. There’s elevated seating to the other side, seemingly for the locals to people watch. I ordered the steak & blue cheese salad. The salad is your basic old school iceberg with a beet(see picture). The dressing was tasty, the steak was a little chewy for me. A friend ordered the half chicken. She said it was pretty good. My friends were seated facing the kitchen. For some reason they were fascinated with the mechanics of how the salads were made. Service wise, this place is on point. The food never stopped coming. How did I miss these signature drinks I am now reading about? Shame on my friend for not cluing me in!
