Absolutely amazing! This is one of the best stops that I made this trip. I was told that this would be an experience but what can I say?! I wish we had one of these back home.

OK, maybe it’s because I’m partial to the donuts I grew up with, but I don’t get the hype. I’ve had the donuts here on many occasions now, and they are good, but nothing spectacular. Maybe they were hyped up too much ahead of time for me? Not sure, but it’s still worth a visit.
They use potato flour, which does give it a fluffier texture due to the reduced amount of gluten in the dough, and it does give it a slightly different flavor. However, I’m not crazy about the chocolate they place on some of the donuts, as I find it not very chocolatey and way too gooey (making it messy to eat). It must be popular though because they are often out of it.
I would give it three stars, but I bump it to four for the kitsch and historical factor. This building is awesome, and the sign is just cool, and the fact this has been a local favorite for so very long makes it worthy of anyone’s attention in my book.

Made a stop here so my husband could relive his childhood memory of donuts from Spudnut Shoppe! 20 years later and they’re still as good as he remembers them!
