It’s an unassuming buffet off Valley and Peck Blvd. So much cheaper than other AYCE places but their offerings are no less great, that’s why it gets packed on the weekends. Parking can be a problem as it is shared with a grocery store and some other businesses nearby. Salmon sashimi is fresh, the different flavored rice rolls(should I call them sushi?) are good. The best dishes for me are the salt and pepper shrimp, salt and pepper crab, steamed crab legs, oysters, stewed crawfish, and the baked shrimp and mussels on a half-shell. There are so many other standard buffet dishes as well as the sugared beignets, sesame balls and fried bananas. There’s a salad bar, dessert section, and teppanyaki too. Drinks are not included, but refills are free. I’m always happy and full when I come here.

This place is really just OK. For the price you pay, I guess you can get through with eating a mediocre meal here. They have a huge selection of everything even Mongolian bbq. Food quality is not the best but you cannot complain for the price you pay!

I came here a while ago the food was ok not the best but what ticked me off was that we had to fight to get our drinks refilled they never serviced our table we never had any refills and when we gave her the tip she said thats it that she wanted more i wanted to say maybe u should of cone checked on us but i was in disbelief like this waitress is crazy

The service is JUST fine, but the Mongolian BBQ sucks. You never known how many pieces of eggshell in your plate. The cooking guy dump all food you give to him so hard on the iron plate just like throwing trash into garbage can. I paid my money for nice food, not for freaking eggshell and that kind of attitude. I really don’t know whether he did this on purpose or not. How dare a restaurant treats their customer like this. NEVERGOTHEREAGAIN!!!

Been here a couple of times and it had never looked as messy as today. It wasn’t really full and it took them over 30 mins to start picking up everything. The food is good but the waitress’s always seem to disappear. They only sit you down and they don’t come back until they bring you the bill. You basically have to call them to get you refills. When they do finally get you the refill they seem upset; today one of the waitress’s brought me someone else’s cup with their straw still in it.

Been here a couple times now and you have to remember you’re at a buffet so you have to compare it to other buffets because of course the quality of the food isn’t going to be as good as a sit down restaurant. They have various prices if it’s weekdays, weekends, lunch or dinner, but for a dinner weekend you’ll get out paying about $ 16 including tax and tip. If you consider that, then then fact you can even get AYCE seafood like clams, shrimp, mussels, cuts of beef, as well as sushi and a Mongolian grill, is pretty good. They have a large selection of other things items such as a salad bar, a few types of chicken, and soups. They’re dessert are meh but even meh ice cream is better then no ice cream. If you’re the type of person who loves buffets and enjoys quantity over quality, then you’ll like this place!

the crowd has died down in recent years, but the food is relatively decent to other asian style buffets. they do have a wide array in their salad/dessert section. They’re prompt on collecting your dirty plates.

I agree with most here that the food is average and ok tasting. They do offer variety and space for get togethers

You know, a few months back in mentioned that it was basic. Now I think I changed my mind. Mayb I was to harsh on them. I went in and the food was good. I realized that out of all Chinese buffets located within a 15 mile radius, that this one is probably the best. At the end I liked how the waiter said thank you. Last time I recalled no thank you. I felt like there has been a change in the environment, and that my friend, is why it taste better.

Food is average. The BBQ is okay, however I’ve had better. The hostess was sweet and nice, we got a free calendar with our meal. The complaint I really had, was the chef at the BBQ was very rude, the was slamming the thongs, from the meat selection area, because he was mad people didn’t put them back in the right spot, as he was cooking the food, he kept looking at us and then to the tip jar… we were gonna tip, once we had our bills broken after paying for our tab, but not after he treated us like that we didn’t. But i do like the selection of food.

First time in this place, food es super fresh and all the trays always full. They have a lot of food variety hot and fresh. Service is great and the place looks clean They give out free candy balls, BEWARE! A 3 years old shock and one of the female employees helped the mom. Otherwise I like the place, definitely we will come back

Came here on a random night with friends because we didn’t know what to eat lol. So this place is pretty big for a buffet. I think. I really like the décor of this place. The layout pretty simple: got your meat in one section, seafood in another, and of course Mongolian BBQ in the corner. For some train Mongolian bbq is becoming really popular now a days. And also apparently if you don’t tip the guy who’s doing he doesn’t say«thank you». Which is understandable. I guess. Lol So onto the food! I’m not really into seafood as much as my friends are so I didn’t get the real crab. But I heard its good. I did get the assorted seafood though. Pretty good compared to Ichiban buffet, which is a few minutes away. I noticed that I got an allergic reaction to the battered shrimp. Which has never happened to me. And also the battered shrimp wasn’t good. OH! There is walnut shrimp there though. But it’s not good. It was sweet for me and sour for my friend. Yuk. Other than that the service was really good. The guy who kept our drinks flowing, non alcoholic of course, had perfect timing! He was also really nice about the bill and such :). Thank you for being nice Other than that. I’ll come back if my friends want to.

This is the only chinese buffet that I have been to and like. As you can see, my last review was from 2013. I have liked it since then! There are others that I have tried and they just can’t compare. Their salmon and baked fish are always so good. I can never find another buffet that makes it so good. Same with the cream cheese wontons. Sushi is great as well. I do admit that sometimes their food is off tho. One time I went and got really salty cream cheese wontons, or another time when their clam chowder was lacking milk… they serve lobster on holidays! Which is a great deal. No limits either! Just have to wait in line for it. If you are a dessert fan, don’t bother. Their banana pudding dessert(with almond cookies on the bottom) used to be superb until their changed the pudding. It tastes weird now. Don’t even bother with the crème brûlée because it’s not crème brûlée at all… it is very rough in taste, not creamy or smooth at all. Cakes are pretty dry. Their jello are pretty good tho(mango and almond). Ice cream improved the last time I went there. It got smoother! Less ice tasting. Service: sometimes you get good waiters and sometimes you just get really horrible ones. It’s a buffet… what do you expect? Good ones come grab your plates regularly, but don’t expect them to ask if you want refills for your drinks. You have to ask them. Bad ones… and yes I’ve personally had this happen, they STAREATYOUWHILEYOUARETAKINGOUTTIPSANDTAKEITIMMEDIATELYONCEYOUHAVEPUTITDOWN. that woman was the worst server I ever had there. I don’t know what her name is(they really need to start doing name tags, unless they do have it and I never noticed). They take competitor coupons, but only coupons from El Monte. I tried giving them a souplantation coupon and they wouldn’t take it. If someone knows which competitor coupons they take(restaurant name) please let me know, because I have absolutely no idea. Recently when I went, there was also a sign that says they take their own expired coupons! So don’t throw those coupons away! They usually have coupons in the Chinese papers or sent to you by mail and are usually pretty good coupons too.

This place is a great value. $ 8.69 for lunch buffet and $ 12.69 for dinner buffet. I have come here at least three times already. Repeat, happy guest. They have a wide selection of food including sushi, seafood, and your common Chinese dishes. Highly recommend it~

Average food for a pretty high price. My family went on a Saturday, around 4:30pm and the whole restaurant was packed. The avocado in the sushi that was sitting out was pretty brown, which looked unappetizing. I know it’s weird, but I liked how this buffet had mashed potatoes and potato salad, as a lot of buffets I have been to don’t. The mashed potatoes were very tasteless however. The waiters and waitresses that served us did their job but went very friendly. Due to the many customers however, I don’t blame them. My family used a $ 2 off each person coupon found in the Chinese newspaper.

As far as buffet restaurants go, it’s pretty good. They have a pretty large selection of foods that is not just limited to Chinese. They have a sushi bar but don’t expect much. The Mongolian BBQ table is good and Chinese stir fry dishes are also good. My favorite is the breaded fried shrimp with some seafood cocktail sauce. It’s like an all you can eat shrimp bar. The clams with garlic sauce is also good. Just these two dishes alone is worth the price of the meal. It’s like everything else is a bonus.

Old people love buffets. And my grandmother was the only reason why I even stepped foot here. This is a perfect example of quantity over quality. Life is too short to be eating bad food and a useless waste of valuable calories. China Great Buffet was exactly what I envisioned prior to coming here. We beat the lunch crowd by getting here early. So the food presentation was immaculate. One really feels like you’re getting a great deal. The food is presented in different stations and honestly I was bored. The crab legs looked somewhat descent but when I ate it… it was obviously thawed from being frozen. The Mongolian BBQ station was manned by a really pissed-off Chinese man, that didn’t speak much English. But he lightened up when I put a dollar bill in his tip jar. I asked him to make my grandmother stir fried noodles with a fried egg on top. The dessert bar is really just too sad. I don’t know what half of them was. The service or the lack there-of didn’t bother me as much as the lack of love in the food. $ 8.39 per person… I think I’ll pass.

Came back again during the weekend for an early dinner. There were crab legs this time so I was a lot happier! Haha. I don’t think this place is worth it if there aren’t any crab legs… Another thing I liked were the oysters. It’s probably a better thing that they’re cooked and not raw. I wouldn’t want to try them if they were raw… This time I mostly just ate the oysters and the crab legs. I ate some sushi and some other hot food items like the mussels. Everything is either too oily, or fried… I also wish they had a better dessert selection. I wouldn’t have come back if it weren’t my uncle who invited me to go eat with him. Might be back in a few weeks since he comes here all the time!
