El Monte Courthouse

Very Courteous, I had my children with me and they made me wait outside. I was only clearing a registration ticket but I didn’t know that after I had already fully paid the fine, I wasn’t required to appear in court anymore. But everything went very smoothly, they made sure I had everything I needed.

I see alot of negative reviews on here but I don’t understand why. Both times I came here my experience has been swift and easy. The line to get in moved quickly, the quickest I’ve ever been through. I encountered no trouble while there and the line for the clerks office was also very short. This was my first experience with the El Monte courthouse and after years of handling my tickets in the Pomona courthouse, El Monte is paradise. Parking is 6 bucks, cash only and very secure. Hopefully I will never have to go back to any court house for anything, but if I do, I hope that my ticket gets assigned to this one. Easiest court experience ever.

Just want to put it out there… no one wants to ever be in a courthouse. Of course it’s not going to ever be a smooth time, but it is what it is.
Parking is $ 6, cash only. Sucks, but it’s the little inconveniences that makes life less painful. Trying to look for free parking around the area would be a nightmare. Besides, it’s a small price to pay.
Some of the employees and officers working there are helpful and did not give me attitude when assisting me. I came in recently for a fix-​it ticket and the process went by smoothly. Yes, it did take a few hours out of my day to complete the process, but it’s better than having my case referred to collections and having a warrant for my arrest. *Depending on the judge, if your courtroom is filled with people who do not understand instructions, you are going to be in that room for a very long time.
Overall, nothing special, but it definitely could use a smile or two in there. Save your time and money by being a rule abiding citizen and by following traffic laws!

After reading all these negative reviews before heading down to El Monte I was already expecting to have a bad experience. I was there to pay a ticket for my husband I got there around 10 am and it was empty to my surprise. Yes you have to pay for parking and its $ 6 not $ 5 anymore. I arrived there parked with no problem, walked in there was only 1 person in line at the cashier window. Payed the ticket and walked out in less than 20 minutes. I took way longer at the Bellflower court house.
And no I don’t work there and trying to give them good feedback. Am a casual person conducting business there.

Judge doesn’t listen too well here. I told him I could pay my ticket in full same day and I spent over an hour waiting because he put that I wanted to pay partial payment. If you’re going to hire high court judges please be sure they hear well, are fair, and don’t have you sit back down for asking two simple questions. Ridiculous, but hey what can you do it is the American justice system after all. They can get away with what ever they want milking you of any amount of money they choose.

While at the court house i noticed the lack of handicapped access ramps. The lack of elevators to enter the court house from the ground leval. What really struck me was that all the exterior hand rails were very loose. I almost collapsed trying to walk down the stairs at the front of the building. I am a ampute, and the city of el monte should be ashamed to have a building that is not in compliace with the ADA.

If you’re going to have highway patrol sign off on anything, you’ll also need cash or check in order for them to come out n check ur car. This was the only place I could find to even have someone sign off though– I was directed to Dmv (no longer does it), highway patrol office (no longer does it) and finally found my way over here. Yowwwza. They don’t make it easy to give em money
5 $ to park?! To top it off, it’s cash only! Don’t know why they’re surprised that I had to pay in nickels. I mean, honestly, who cause carries cash anymore? Paying the court itself for additional fees, on the other hand, accepts cc. Essentially, make sure to come loaded w all cash or several ways to pay. Soooo confusing.
The tiny bit of possibly good news, there are two reserved spots on the top level by the entrance to park in cause, ya know, don’t wanna force anybody to take a few extra steps — My car was literally two spots down from those ones and he made me move it Hahaaa

Worst customer svc ever. I got here to the traffic line and there was no line yet I still waited for 1 hour before they called me to the window. These stupid people they have working here are lazy they’re chatting it up instead of doing their jobs. This building is a waste of time and the you have to pay for parking. Typical county workers getting paid to do nothing. Fire everyone and put up automated machines please. If you can avoid coming to this nightmare I would recommend doing it online. All those rent a cops are on a power trip. Scared to go toe to toe.

$ 5 for parking as if the city isn’t already making enough off me and my traffic fine. Park across the street or somewhere else if u can

This is a piece of shit courthouse who the fuck takes a 2 hour lunch break how are you so understaffed that we have to call at your connivence these fucks are supposed to be there for us not us go out of our way for them screw elmonte court they suck

A helpful and knowledgable staff. However, it is ridiculous to charge $ 5 parking just to go in and handle business in which we need to pay more to a ticket. wow!

I HATE THIS PLACE.
It’s depressing just being there, and they charge $ 5 for parking regardless how long you stay and what do you do there.
I was trying to fight a traffic ticket and I was going to take 2 hours from work for it.
This court clerk (or just a guy) didn’t even finish taking attendence until 10am (from 8:30).He was the meanist, uglist and rudest human being.
Just when I thought they were going to start taking the cases, they sent more people in, so it took another hour just to get those people to their proper places. Finally, the mean guy said he will try to get it started by 12, and get ready to stay there until 4.
I was furious at that point, so I told him I’m not going to fight it since I needed to get to work I will just pay. He said good, pay at the cashier outside and come back show him the paper. There were over 100 people in line for the cashier and I was at the very end of the line…
I ran out of there and paid over the phone in the end.
Horrible experience, nobody there is nice, I think they all hate their lives and they take it out on everybody.
My suggestion is, bring LOADS of petience and be prepare to spare all day there if you truly believe you can fight it. Otherwise, stay away and pay.

What can I say about this place? It is a facility where you come to pay for your degenerate actions. It is not a fun place. The line here is pretty fast, the staff is fairy nice, you lose money here, parking is $ 5. I refuse to waste any more time here, even if it is just writing a lengthy review– I’M DONE WITH THIS PLACE!

Come early, have all your paperwork ready, expect to wait and dont make a bad day worse.
You have to pay $ 5.00 for parking. There is a metal detector for safety reasons.
Please note the way you treat the court staff you will be treated the same. I was fortunate to have a great court associate assist me and reschedule my court, re instate my license and get out there in no time.
Bathrooms are clean

I called the traffic dept. On Monday morning 9:20am…Debbie answered on th first ring handled my inquiry in 2minutes n saved me a trip there n multiple hours waiting in line!

Ok, so I was told that I can have a fix it ticket from Burbank takin care of here. So they charge you $ 5 for parking $ 17 for their service fee and they don’t take credit card? Like it’s the 80’s! Then I had to wait 20 mins outside for a «sheriff» to come and inspect my car. Then told by one of the «sheriffs» that I have to fa back to Burbank to show them proof that it’s fixed? Wtf is the point of me comin here if I just have to go to Burbank? So I tried my luck in the traffic line and sure enough they were able to take care of it! Long story short the «sheriffs» don’t know shit, like even the way law works and how to get your issue solved.

LA county should really start to work on their public service attitude. I was at the court 7:45 am to deal with a traffic ticket. I talked with an office lady the day before she asked me to stop by tomorrow 8:00am and let her know ahead of time so she can prepare my file for the 8:00 am court. (Star for the office lady)
Today when I get here, I went into the court at 7:45am, see if I can talk to anyone to let the lady know that I am here she needs to prepare my file. talked with one of the securities and he explained to me that the court is not open yet. Then when I apologize to the guy and turning back out, the the second securities walks over start yell at me, GET OUT! WE ARE NOT OPEN YET.
Yeah right, we should pay for this kind of public service with our tax money, I am here because a stupid cop give me a COURT DATE for window tint, the car is not even my car, simply because I am out of state resident and he feels the need to help the airline by ask me to appear in court for a driving someone else’s window tinted car.
Southern Cali is known for the hardship of police law enforcement, we all pay tax for the government to not service, but cause problems, so glad that I am not resident of Cali anymore.

Just another day of suiting up and heading to court:
First off, this court is tiny and the parking lot is really small as well. It is pretty obvious that this court house is terribly understaffed due to budget cuts due to the massively long lines here.
The courthouse isn’t too shabby but you start to feel bad for everyone here from the clerks to the people getting their fines. Overall, this court house mostly handles criminal and traffic problems and that is more than this courthouse can handle. :/​

As far as going to a courthouse goes it was a good experience. Security was fast efficient and friendly. It is «FRIENDLY El MONTE» the traffic window lines moves a little slow but they are super friendly and we had a nice conversation about none traffic related stuff.
Would I go back. HELL NO every time I am at court I am writing a check. If you have to get a ticket this is a good court to go to.

Came here for Jury Duty, yay! Not.
Tons of parking in the lot. Try finding a spot on the second level, because the court entrance is on that floor. Go towards the left to get through the metal detector screenings and such.
There are no signs for where to go for Jury Duty, at least there were none when I was there. But once you leave the screenings, turn left and head down the hall until you see the elevators (on your right). Take it down to level B. Go towards the left out of the elevators and you’ll see a sign.
Bring a book or any sort of portable electronic device that will keep you occupied because there’s a lot of wait time. If you want a snack, they have a 7 – 11 type stocked snack shop on the main floor where the entrance is.
The courtrooms are up one level from the main floor and totally look like what you’d see off of Judge Judy’s TV show. Our judge was really nice and friendly. I sat in the juror box for quite a while. They ask you a ton of questions and give you long breaks. I was dismissed after the second day, I didn’t even say anything the second day!
That was it for my first and only jury duty experience so far in my life. Oh, you get paid $ 15 a day for jury duty. But, you don’t get paid for the first day of service. Such an interesting experience.
