Good food and service! The appetizer bread is butter and toasted before they serve it to you. Very tasty and fresh. Food: House Special steak — medium rare. It was cooked perfectly with good seasoning. Would recommend! Beef Empanada — Made fresh, not too doughy with a healthy portion of seasoned meat. Would order again. Service: Pretty standard — no complaints. Overall would come back. It’s a little pricier but the food quality is good.

I like this place. I came on Saturday around 1pm, it wasn’t crowded waitress was quiet but nice. the bread was really good. I had the 7 mares. it was outstanding, very flavorful, no imitation. Others at my table had the Steak, tried it and it was also really well seasoned and not overcooked. Empanadas are delicious. was feeling sick so I asked for hot tea, even their tea was good and it came from a package, go figure. I would recommend this place for a nice date night, or just a relaxing lunch or dinner. they have a bar on the other side, didn’t venture in, maybe next time.

I came on a Tuesday for the lunch special. Unfortunately I can’t remember the names of the dishes! I had a fried chicken steak and it was delicious and HUGE. My father got some kind of beef stew and he really enjoyed it. All the entrees come with rice, beans, and plantains. Yummy bread is also complimentary! The whole meal was absolutely delicious. While looking at the dinner prices, personally I think they are very high. The lunch prices are very reasonable though. So come for lunch instead of dinner and you won’t be disappointed!

My family and I have been coming here for years. The food is amazing. The owner is super sweet. He greets all of his customers with a smile. Try the Sunday brunch is great. It’s a chance to try a few things from the menu. The Cuban sandwich is my all time favorite!

I usually go here around 7 after the time I get off work. It not too crowded. I order the same thing every time! Shrimp in Creole sauce served with white rice, fried bananas and black beans. So delicious! This place never fails me. There customer service is great. I got served by an older woman and she was very attentive. Will highly recommend!

Looking for good Cuban food in El Monte? This is it! My coworkers and I love coming here for their lunch specials. Usually it’s a hit or miss but you really do get the best bang for your buck for the amount of food you get. There’s usually 3 items for the lunch special everyday that is priced around $ 9 and it comes with garlic bread, plantains and black beans. I especially love the chicken and potato dish on Wednesdays. The restaurant itself is family owned and it actually looks pretty nice inside with comfortable seating. From the outside the restaurant looks like a hole in the wall place but don’t be deceived! Although it can get packed during the lunch rush, I found the service to be pretty quick. The wait staff are usually very attentive to the customers. You can even find the El Monte police officers and other city workers dropping by during lunch time.

Cant even recommend one specific item here, everything is wonderfully authentic, reminds me of my grandma’s cooking ‚) The Entrees, and appetizers are 5-star! The portions are large, be ready to share. Actually, even if you get your own plate… still be ready to share because trust me you’re gonna want to try some of everyone’s dish! :D I usually come with my family for dinner, but they also do take out, and have Karaōke & a bar in a separate area of the restaurant PS. try the Mojitos.

Having been to Cuba, I’ve been craving the flavors I tasted there. No where I’ve been to in America save for a place in Florida ever came close. This place is good. Not bad. I would come back. But it’s not the same as in Cuba. Décor: Inside — outdated like those old 70’s. Outside — a little suspicious. Service: very lacking. Just took our orders and brought us our food. Only 2 other parties in there when I went. Food: good taste, nothing outstanding from out Cuban restaurants in the area. House steak was kind dry though. Paella was good. My grilled chicken was the best and I don’t usually like eating chicken out.

Let me start by saying that I’m Cuban, not Cuban/American but a born and race in Havana, so I know what Cuban food is suppose to taste like, and being a new resident to the SoCal area I’ve been looking for a good Cuban restaurant to ease the occasional craving of home town food. We tried out this place because it was the closest to our house and the best Unilocal rated one in the area. We got there and the restaurant was practically empty, the décor was like they are trying to look very fancy and expensive, common of Cuban restaurants though. Their menu is OK, although missing some classics like«Vaca frita» and«Arroz amarillo». We order an assortment of appetizers since I was really craving the food and I wanted to try as many as I could, none of them came even close to what we were expecting, but OK, I though, maybe the entrees will be better. We order the roasted pork(a Cuban classic on every holiday party) and the house steak after our server’s suggestion. The roasted pork tasted like it was reheated after 3 days on the fridge and the«congri»(rice and beans) was completely burned and dry. The stake wasn’t bad but nothing even close to traditional Cuban steak. The service wasn’t bad, although our server didn’t seemed very familiar with the menu since she had to ask more than twice when we had questions about it. Anyways, we are still on the search for a GOOD Cuban restaurant, any suggestions??? yu

I come here a lot for work. The house bread is the best. Sometimes I skip the rice that comes with the order and eat the bread instead. Everything on the menu is good. My favorite is the oxtail dish(rabo encendido). It is Very tasteful and melts in your mouth. Like I said, everything on the menu is good. Best time to go is for lunch since they close early for dinner.

I think a lot of you Unilocalers are overly critical. Props to this restaurant for having good food. They need more servers as it’s a bit slow, but solid food for the price. This restaurant is the only Cuban restaurant in El Monte, not in Florida. So please get off your high horses comparing this restaurant to the plethora of good spots in a concentrated area(eg. Florida) of Cuban restaurants. It’s not fair. Food was well worth the price.(C’mon they give you free and good bread!) Please remember it’s hard to charge under $ 10 in a full-service restaurant. If you can’t understand why, then you should be eating at Mcdonalds for the rest of your life.

Great cuban food joint by work. There’s a special every day of the week, so be on the look out for that. Have had the ropas viejas which is my favorite(and also a special on Fridays!) Arroz con pollo and house steak are both also very good. Every plate is served with black beans(which are very flavorful), rice and plantains. When you first get seated, buttered toast is brought to the table. Toast is always crispy and good. Service is always prompt, friendly, fairly quick. The only issue is that the chairs/booths always feel sticky/oily/dirty and the décor is severely outdated. But the food is great, so I always come back!

Food was great and staff was very friendly. Came here with a bunch of friends and tried a variety of foods. Most were pretty tasty(skirt steak, oxtail, breaded chicken), some were not(sirloin steak). Bread was delicious, couldn’t stop eating it.

Place has a 70ish look and feel to it with a splash or mod tech(flat screens) all over. I had the Grilled Salmon. Let me tell you the fish was seared to perfection with lots of flavor. The Rice was decent but here’s comes the only disappointment and warrants a three star rating it was the black beans. Which were not Cuban black beans. Although tasty it lacked the flavor of all the herbs and spice found Cuban black been. I also had their Tamarindo beverage which was excellent. over all this place is good not on my high list but a possible repeat. Thanks for reading my post I hope you enjoy your visit

This place is much nicer inside than you would expect based on the exterior. The food is tasty — the two roasted pork dishes are excellent & the chicken milanesa is my friends fav dish here. It’s rarely very busy during dinner time & their bread comes from Portos which is a total plus!

Ok! Now if you know Cuban food you will know this is the closes you will get to home made Comida Cubana! Even though the service is like whatever the food is to die for and«Conyo» you won’t be disappointed!

Delicious bread. Daily specials! A larger restaurant with great service. Overall, the bread was my favorite. They have oxtail and I wish I ordered that. An WOK place if you are in the area, but I would not go out of my way to come here. Parking is easy and the prices are reasonable. I would come here just for the delicious bread. which kind of reminds me of Porto’s in Glendale. I would like to try more items. A-OK in my book!
