I am doing only 3 stars because I the service. I have been there three times and each time I got a bad vibe. Felt like I wasn’t welcome kind of thing. The last time I went I made a to go order. I ordered a sandwich and the guy never asked what size or if I wanted the combo, he just gave me the largest combo he had! Then when I went to pay for my to go order, the guy stood there with the receipt staring off like he was figuring out the tip to write in for me!!! Then he just circled the tip line! I am a great tipper but really was offered by his presumption that I will tip. That is my decision not his! Never going back.

Chubby’s Bronx Deli is the first restaurant I’ve ever rated ‘meh’ out of 10. I mean, don’t get me wrong; I arbitrarily waited until sampling at least two of their sandwiches before posting a review and I can say, food wise, that I’ve definitely experienced better. It’s strange though, because the items I tried are mediocre in a way that has me on the fence between 2 and 3 stars. This sorta makes me wish half stars was a thing here. We’ll start out by talking about the good stuff here. I like their location. I like how clean and simple the décor of the restaurant is. I like the fact that you can place orders to-go beforehand and just swing in and pick them up at your leisure. I like that they have paid Wi-Fi, so their signal is faster than those places that offer open Wi-Fi to the public. I also really like their menu selection. This means that each time I return to this place(which I will, because there are at least two more items I’d like to try) I can sample something new. It’s a sandwich place. So that also implies you can customize sandwiches, if you wish. Getting all that out of the way, we can discuss the two sandwiches I tried from here. The first one was their philly cheesesteak. I gotta tell ya… I’ve never had a cheesesteak quite like this one. It’s tough to describe, but the very first thing I noticed is that they love to use pepper. It reminded me of a pepper steak sandwich more than a philly. Luckily, I opted to get mine sans peppers. But the other thing about this particular philly was that they clearly used au jus, or something similar. I dunno… it had this after taste that I can’t really describe; almost like it had a hint of teriyaki or something. Anyway, not really my first choice for a philly cheesesteak. But it was… edible. I’d give it a six out of ten. The next day, I returned to try out their tuna melt. First off, their version of the tuna melt is made on a sub roll, which is fine. But the thing that killed it for me was their actual tuna salad mix… if you can even call it that. I don’t understand why their tuna pieces have to be so microscopic. I’m not exaggerating here in the least. The tuna mix is more like a… tuna…paste. Almost as if they placed it in a blender after mixing. I didn’t even know such a thing was possible. I mean, the tuna itself tasted okay. It just lacked substance and even my wife remarked on as much. She didn’t like the fact that with each bite, a little more tuna would slide out the back of the sub roll. And neither did I. I was able to finish my sandwich okay. But this will be the first and last time I ever order this sandwich again. I’d give this one a four out of ten. Overall: not… that good. Their fries are actually one of the best things this place has going for them so far. It’s worth mentioning that should I try those other two items, I’ll post an updated review for this place. Hopefully it’ll be enough for me to give them a third star. But for now, I have to base it off the first two sandwiches I had which, as I said in the beginning, I’ve had better. Their service is actually outstanding! The servers here are very attentive. Quick funny story: when I bought the cheesesteak, the guy at the register almost let me leave without charging me for the meal. Luckily for him, I’m an honest patron. I said, «Uhm…you didn’t take my payment yet.» I think he laughed it off a bit and then proceeded to ring up the meal. That’s about it for now. Stay tuned for an updated review in the near future.

Epic portions of meaty sandwich deliciousness and yum yum cheesecake. Onion rings were also great.

Went to chubs last Sunday while it was not to busy the hot pastrami was the bomb. If you ask Carla where’s the beef, it was in the pastrami, no skimping here. I like the kraut a little stronger, but that will do good enough.

The subs were decent, but for a 25 minute wait, I was expecting more. The portion was huge, so it’s a good value, but I don’t think we will be back unless it’s for takeout.

Great lunch. The Philly steak is now being cooked like the Westside deli. Great stuff!

East side location– Be prepared to wait over 50 minutes when the place isn’t busy for your meal. Horrible service and long wait. We won’t be back. I give this place 6 more months and it will be out of business. We’ve seen 5 tables get up and leave. Update: It took 1 hr 10 min to bring me, 5 months pregnant, a chicken burger. It was just the bun and 3 chicken strips. No mayo, cheese, lettuce and cheese as it had on the menu. I could have received a better and timelier meal going to a fast food place. It’s almost funny on how bad this place is!!!

I’ve been looking for a place that serves good, healthy salads, I live near this place so I figured I would check it out and hope for the best. The grilled chicken they put on their salad is so good and a lot too. You get a good amount of chicken for the $ 9 you pay. Definitely worth it. I will definitely become a regular here. Their entire menu looks bomb!

23 minutes after placing my order for a sandwich my table was still empty with no food. I told them I didnt want it since I was in a hurry and had errands. I waited till my son finished his corndog and they gave me my sandwich for free. The waitress apologized many times and was nice, but the cooks were bsing… when my 6 year old can point out it is taking a long time because the cooks just keep talking it should tell u something. The Ruben was okay, not a place I will be returning to.

Great sandwiches, prompt service. I was elated to find that they used Boars Head deli meat as it is one of my favorites. I ordered the Rueben and my husband got the Jimmy Gent roast beef sandwich. Both sandwiches were packed with meat similar to any Bronx deli. Both sandwiches were delish. I’d recommend trying this place out. 3 star rating cause I caught a glimpse into the kitchen and it was kinda grody. Didn’t look as clean as I prefer.

Chubby’s is now open on the Eastside! I stopped by on the second day they were open and they had a full house. The food is as good as the originals, though, to be fair, I go to Chubby’s for one reason, and one reason only: The Doughey. Fair warning: this sandwich is only offered full-sized. Serving sizes at Chubby’s Bronx Deli justify the prices, which are slightly higher than other sandwich shops in town. You get a huge sandwich here, one you might even be able to share among two people.

I’m glad Chubbys finally opened a spot on the Far East side! The interior is pretty much the same as the west side location. About 7 booths and regular squared tables. Decorations are pictures of New York scenery. I stick to my usual Pastrami samich! Can’t go wrong with some cold pastrami! Potatoe salad sucks, but no biggie. They so have a good selection of sandwhiches, and they cut their own deli meat. The food is good but no wow factor, can’t realky expect WOW from a deli sandwhich. I will definitely will visit again! Give it a try guys!
