This is absolutely one of my favorite places to eat. The place has been around for at least 30+ years. My mom and dad brought me here as a kid and I remember the Piano player singing the night away as my parents enjoyed the music as they sipped on their Margaritas. Now it’s my turn to hang out with my kids and eat great food listen to great music and sip on an ice cold Corona! Love this place and will come back the next time I’m in El Paso, TX.

Good atmosphere and slightly above average food, fajitas were good, but nothing to die for. Also very confused with The baked potato without anything but butter on it. Server was excellent and appeared to take pride in his work. Overall worth trying! Better than any chain restaurants!

Service was good. Food was very dry. I ordered the corona special which is the house specialty, everything from the chicken to the sauce was dry. My husband ordered the pork tips, they looked like dry bones. It has great potential but they have to improve quality of food.

I gave Julio’s 2 stars only because of the service and the ambiance. Otherwise, I felt let down by the food. I ordered the red cheese enchilada plate(with beans, rice, lettuce/tomatoes), and I couldn’t put enough salt and Tobasco on everything because the food was so blasé. The sauce with the chips was a blend of watered down tomatoes with absolutely no spice. Someone in our dinner group ordered a dessert sopapilla with ice cream, which appeared to be quite tasty. The margarita was the best part of the meal. Needless to say, Julio’s will not be on my list for future dining.

Great food and nice people. My two favorite dishes are the corona special which have 3 chicken enchiladas and a side of rice and beans, and their red enchiladas. But the best thing ever is their sopapilla rellena, it is a sopapilla filled with ice cream and topped with cajeta drizzle. It is to die for! They are considered to have one of the best margaritas on the border.

Quite enjoyable! I arrived about one hour before closing and there were still several people here. I was greeted promptly, when I sat at the bar. Within 5 minutes I had a delicious bowl of homemade salsa with chips and a tasty margarita. I ordered the chicken Fajita tacos, they were fantastic. Overall, I had a wonderful dinner at a fair price. Highly recommended!

We go here every time we’re in El Paso. Hub’s aunt and grandmother are regulars. The margaritas are good– not too sweet. The enchiladas are tasty. Both the green and red chiles are yummy. I had the Chicken Tampiquena and found the chicken breast to be way too dry. I was happy about the veggies and guacamole on the side, however. Definitely stick with the enchiladas or other mexican specialties. The chips and salsa served at the table are muy addicting! When we visit El Paso again, we will certainly come here again.

On Feb. 3, at 4:30 p.m.(CST) I called Julio’s Café Corona, 8050 Gateway Blvd., in El Paso, TX79907 to inquire about reserving enough space for a party of 40 people for Sunday, Feb. 21. The young lady I spoke to told me that the restaurant offered a buffet on Sundays. I asked if a room could be set aside for a party that size. She said that it would not be a problem if guests went through the Sunday buffet line. She then asked for my name and what time we would need the space. I said our party would be at the restaurant from noon to 2 p.m. She repeated the information to me, noting the date, time and size of the group. Relatives and friends were informed of the location, date and time. When I arrived in El Paso, I decided to check in personally at the restaurant to view the accommodations. Upon my arrival at the restaurant on Feb. 20, the day before the event, I was informed that the restaurant had no record of the reservation. A manager was called. He also checked the records and found no reservation had been recorded under my name. I then asked what could be done since the invitations had been issued and 40 people would be showing up the next day. The manager showed absolutely no sympathy and simply said the guests would have to be served on a first-come, first-served basis. He also stated that the Sunday buffet was only offered until noon. He offered no apology for the situation and was quite arrogant and rude. He said the restaurant policy required a contract for a party that size. No such contract was ever mentioned to me at the time of my call two weeks prior. I asked why this hadn’t been mentioned before and he again coldly replied he could not do anything for our group. We quickly had to scramble to find another venue; a task made doubly difficult by the short notice. When we finally found another more accommodating restaurant, we had to spend considerable time informing everyone of the change of venue. My complaint is that because of poor management, employees are ill informed about their own policies. What’s more, the management does not provide information on their website about reservation policies. They list a phone number to call, which is what I did in the first place, only to have incompetent employees lose the reservation information.

We have been coming here for many years to this location, since about 1991⁄1992. Times have changed and so have the prices, gone are the days of 9.99 carnitas now an expensive 14.99! Basically everything has gone up in price since they remodeled the place and opened the 2nd location, guess they need to cover loan costs? Try everything once, carnitas, black bass, flautas, tacos, the soup, salpicon, shrimp, and alcoholic beverages! I was disappointed they have not ordered the black bass, and refused to try the red snapper! Maybe one day I’ll try the cochinita pibil or steak tampiquena. They have daily lunch specials Monday through Friday from 11am to 3 pm. Service is good, but during the lunch hours it’s kind of poor, go after 130!

Amazing food. The chicken mole polano was tender and flavorful. They also had some of the best margaritas I’ve had in a long time. Will come back every time I’m in El Paso.

On the positives, the service was great. The salsa was fantastic as was the margarita. I had enchiladas with red and green sauce with rice and beans. It was all pretty good but certainly not special or different from the average Mexican restaurant. Being in El Paso for the first time, I really was hoping for a uniquely delicious Mexican dinner and it was pretty much like 100 other Mexican meals I have had. I was also hoping for a more authentic atmosphere. This was certainly clean and even nice but not particularly Mexican.

My friend said he ate at Julio’s in Juarez when he was a kid with his family a lot. He remembered it being great. After sampling the chips & salsa he ordered chicken with mole. I tasted it and we both agreed it needed more bite & less sweet. I got Combiation enchiladas with 3 kinds of sauce. Really good flavor. The mini tortillas they brought to the table were good also. All the meat was excellent quality, lean & tender. Food was solid but service was superior.

Julios Café Corona is by far my favorite restaurant of any cuisine type in El Paso. The service is second to none and the food is authentic; no Tex Mex here. I’ve tried just about everything on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. My personal favorite would be the mole poblano. The employees here have obviously been instructed on the need for accuracy and courtesy. Many of the waiters have worked here for years which tells me the management is top notch. If you’re driving through El Paso and hoping for a quality dining experience Julios café Corona will not disappoint.

When I first came to El Paso in 1972, Julios was considered the go to place for lunch in Juarez. Texas Monthly consistently rated it one of the best restaurants in the state even though it was in Mexico. That reputation was well deserved and continues today in its El Paso location. The service is great and the food delicious. We had chips and salsa almost before our butts were in the seats. We ordered an appetizer sampler and I’m so glad we did. I’m holding back one star because of the long time it took to get our entrees. They do offer a quick menu lunch– in and out in 35 minutes. We weren’t in that much of a hurry but it still took longer that it should have. Admittedly they were busy and it was the lunch hour. Our waiter was very attentive. You won’t be disappointed with Julios.

Ordered the chicken fajitas. they didn’t come to us sizzling. The flour tortillas were very stale. Told the manager, he is making us a fresh batch. The beef chimichangas were pretty good… Had live music by a gentleman who played the sax. Didn’t understand a word he was saying… ha! The fajitas came back sizzling. The tortillas were still not fresh it was like they overcooked them, made them dry. Not liking this restaurant.

Let’s start with cons: coconut margarita(yummy!) was blue… not natural. The shredded beef taco was super dry and I couldn’t get the beef to pull apart. it was almost jerkey. Chile Relleno was ehh and I only took two bites. With that being said, I was with a small group of people that live there and said they think there has been some changes in kitchen staffing because the chile’s are usually their favorite part. Pros: Loved the décor and service was fantastic. The sampler appetizer platters were all delicious, zero complaints on any of the items! I got all beans(no rice) with my meal and they were good with no substitution charges. The Enchiladas however were the show stopper; absolutely delicious. I would go back for the enchiladas. After hearing what the local’s I was with said, I would like to go back to see if I had a different experience because it is one of their favorite family spots for dinner.

Best flautas oaxaqueñas, luv that they’re not stingy with the guacamole either. Julio’s caldo is also my favorite, and the staff is great! Hugo the bartender is very good. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants

Coming to Julio’s in El Paso was a special moment. I imagined one of those Old El Paso tortilla tacos commercials. The quesadilla was a great appetizers. The mango magarita was ok, booze was lacking. Chicken prepared Spanish style was dry and had too much salt and sugar in the tomato sauce. The hard shell chicken tacos were the best with beans and guacamole. Service was ok. Nice Mexican music provided by a woman singing karaōke.

Don’t get me wrong, they don’t have the best food here, but we had the best dinner experience in El Paso. They have a more expanded dinner menu beyond tacos and burritos. Lot of fish and Yucatan dishes. We had a hard time to decide. Overall, the food are portion on the bigger side, and flavor are good @ $ 10-$ 15 per entrée. I must say, they have very good soup here. I drank the entire bowl, and it was a large bowl. They got pretty good margaritas here, I had the mangorita, it was delicious. Service is very good here, our waiter checked on us frequently, brought us extra chips and salsa. Live music here on Saturday, one man guitar solo, added bonus.
