I like this place on Carolina St. The food has favor, I’m always ordering the tacos of picadillo with beans and rice. I’ve also eaten at the other Lunch Box on Montana, for me there wasn’t any seasoning in the food. So I’m sticking with the Lunch Box on Carolina St.

My Mom brought me a take out order, it was horrible. It was a order of tacos, the meat had no flavor was rubbery, tasted like they cooked it in the microwave, I mean no garlic,.nothing. Taco shells tasted like they were cooked in old oil. I guess they figured it’s takeout no on will care. Oh if you think it was because of the trip home, they called me to tell me they where bringing home food. So between the call and they arrived was 14 minutes.

Years ago when I worked nearby we would make frequent menudo runs here and I remember it as very good. Just happened to be in the area a decided to stop in. But this time I opted for the green chile enchiladas montada. It was good but not great. Nothing wrong and we enjoyed the meal and the attentive service. But we live on the opposite side of town and we have many choices for a Mexican breakfast that are better. Next time I’m in the area I’ll try the menudo again. There are many breakfast dishes and the flour tortillas are made fresh on site. They are very very good and can be purchased to go.

Went here earlier! Wait is sometimes long, expect to wait at least ten to twenty on a weekend. Our food is typically very good. I usually eat flautas or their combination plates. Today I ate the steak tacos, they were to die for. My kids got pancakes, usually they are ok. Today they came out cold and the syrup was too sugary for my oldest who loves loves sugar. I know there is always debate on which lunch box is better, I’d have to say the east is starting to be better than this location. Overall not a bad place to dine but not the best either. Giving them 4 stars since the Mexican food is good. Ducking a star due to the wait and the inconsistency of being good and bland the times I’ve come. I always tell my boys not to order American at a Mexican place but maybe he’ll learn later in life to trust me. Happy Eating!

I had purchased a fund raiser enchilada plate from Lunch Box and had never eaten here. Passed by several times but this was one of the best enchiladas that I had. Reminded me of my mom’s. I wish I could have eaten in but I had to go to work. Will want to try for breakfast.

Their tortillas were the best. Their beans were average. Their service was adequate without being friendly. If this restaurant only sold tortillas through a window it would get 5 stars. The chili rellenos we’re very good. Everything else was adequate and the prices were very good They were very busy at noon there was a 20 min wait..

The machaca breakfast plate kicked my butt. Service was fast and friendly and the food was top notch. Definitely a must the next road trip. Oh, the tortillas were HUGE too. As a San Antonio native, I tip my hat to The Lunch Box.

Great mexican food! And they’re chile rellenos and green chicken enchiladas are the closest ones to my moms, it’s very comfortable, oh & how could you forget the unlimited chips and mouth watering salsa! Hottest salsa in any ep mexican restaurant.

This is Mexican Food! So glad my cousin recommended this place for lunch yesterday. We thoroughly enjoyed the enchiladas, the gorditas, the refried beans and the freshly made flour tortillas. Each heaping combo platter only set us back about $ 8. The food was so great I even came back for breakfast the very next day! I wish I could pack the restaurant up and take it back home with me.

Its been awhile Ive come here. Im here in el paso visiting for holidays. Food was delicious! I give this place a 10… Had a plate of Chili Rellenos. The only thing I didn’t like was the long wait to get a table for lunch.

Lunch box has never disappointed. The army of servers are very attentive. They run the gamut from young and pretty to older and put away wet, but all are spry and bring out bowls of piping hot menudo!

what a misnomer, name sounds like a truck stop. I grew up with Sonoran style tacos and not the tex-mex stuff and these are REALDAMNEDTACOS! great specials too.

So the first time I came here, we went for lunch. NOT the best idea! Despite its name, this El Paso staple is known for breakfast, not midday meals. I decided to try their gorditas, which were overly starchy and buttery… but I guess that’s what I get for trying them in the first place. They’re really not my style. The second time around, we both got the machaca con chili con queso, and it was deliccccccious! Breakfast here is fantastic, authentic, stomach-satisfying and served with big smiles. I didn’t realize until after my own meal that I was hearing a lot of people saying things like, «No leftovers, but I’m stuffed!» Will definitely be back. This place gets crowded, so come earlier if you don’t want to wait.

Last week, my husband and I came to El paso to visit family and they took us here. They swear by the food, so we had to try it. Walking in you can tell its a large restaurant. The décor was old and caferteria style which made me think this is a place the usual’s come, A favorite of the locals. Its awesome to see in the front a woman making flour tortillas fresh by hand. Extra points in my book! I knew this place was going to be good when the place was packed. The hostess was friendly and greeted us quickly. We only had to wait five minutes and then were seated. The only reason why we had to wait was because we were a larger group of 8. Our waitress was spanish and english speaking which is rare here in el paso. The menu was large. It had breakfast and lunch options. The prices were ridiculously cheap. I was in shock and awe. My daughters chicken nuggets and fries were 3 bucks. My husband ordered the American breakfast for 5 bucks and it included; 2 eggs, 4 bacon, hash browns, refried beans, rice, toast and something else. I cant remember because i was too busy devouring my own plate. YUM! My plate was 7 bucks and was huge! I had rice, beans, cheese enchilada, chile relleno, shredded beef taco and a flauta with guac and sour cream on top. It was probably the best mexican food Ive gotten in El paso before. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. No fake food here! Everyone else enjoyed their food and had large portions as well. You def get your moneys worth. The waitress had 9 tables and still was very attentive and delievered our food and drinks fast. This little hole in the wall gem will be a place we come to every time we visit. it didnt disappoint and lived up to the reviews of my family members.
