After ordering avocado fries at a different location in town I was honestly rather afraid to ever order them again. Well, I decided to overcome my fears and give avocado fries one more shot in this world. I am happy to say that The Curb has managed to pull off the task of making delicious avocado fries among other things. I also tried their Vietnamese Wings and Banh Mi Sandwich. The wings were flavorful and crispy but the Banh Mi Sandwich could have been better in my opinion. I found that the bread they used for it to be rather low in quality and I believe their version of the sandwich would be much better if they used a decent quality french bread. I will note that the people working behind the counter were very professional and helpful the time I went. One member of my party had a fish allergy and they were very attentive about that and made sure not to include any fish sauce on what was ordered.

holy sacrileg! eating at the curb was a bit of a religious experience… not sure if it was the crunchy and sinfully creamy avo-fries, the sweet and spicy thai-wangs, the dreamy and fluffy bao tacos, the pork belly banmi, or that bite of that bocadillo had that I am left yearning for but either way… #eagerforround2

I went there and ate the avocado fries two days ago and I still can’t get it off of my mind lol Sooo delicious. When I saw the sign says«avocado fries», I was like nahhh. I like avocados but I’d never seen it fried before so I thought that’s kinda disgusting. But I was curious and decided to pull up my phone to check the reviews about it. I’m glad I did. There were so many good reviews about it so I gave it a try.(That’s why I love Unilocal.) It was AMAZING! The seasoning was just perfect. I enjoyed the texture too. I thought it was gonna be all soggy but the batter was really crispy almost like tempura. When I went there, they didn’t have ramen. I don’t know if they don’t make it anymore or just the night. As a person from Japan, I kinda wanted to try it. But I’d definitely go back even if it’s only for the avocado fries. It’s worth.

The avocado fries were lightly breaded and were very good. Sauce that came with it was good but I would have preferred a better it with a bit more bite to it. The Vietnamese wings were cooked just right and were had a really good flavor to it, The Tacos with the fried chicken had quite a bit of flavor and had the right amount of spice to them. The only thing that I was not a fan of with the tacos was the«tortilla», but that is just my preference. I will definitely be going back to try the other items.

I tried avocado fries once at the Mesa Street Grill in the airport and was less than impressed. They were bland and greasy with an off texture. However, in my head, I knew this was something that should work. Thankfully, The Curb proved me right. They season the avocados before they’re battered. The better was also a fluffy tempura batter. I enjoyed the texture, but would’ve been okay if it were panko’d for a nice crisp. I also tried the fried Brussels sprouts. It didn’t say it on the board, but they are covered in a balsamic sauce. It wasn’t bad, but I’d prefer if they got rid of the sauce and used a flavoured salt instead.

At the soft opening I had the Thai Herb salad it is so delicious. The great combination of herbs makes me want to order it each time.
