UTEP bookstore is a big rip-off! Specifically, the scrubs they make students buy from the bookstore. They’re orange & blue colors that are great for school spirit, but will only be usable for the 1 year that I’m attending the nursing program because 1. they are crappy quality(the material is stiff, unpleasant to wear, and the hems are done so poorly, they are worse than the scrubs that cost 1⁄3 as much from a uniform store) and 2. they are UTEP colors so when am I ever going to wear them after I graduate from UTEP?! I wish they’d just let us buy scrubs that can be used in the future. It’ll help us poor students save $$ & decrease wastefulness. I considered buying a used pair from students from previous classes, but they are made of such poor quality that after a year, my upperclassman friends said the hems are all undone & the elastic waists are all messed up, it’s better to just purchase a new pair. I used to work as a nurse assistant so I already own scrubs. Each pair of Cherokee scrubs I bought cost me about $ 25 from the outlet mall uniform store & they are still in good condition after 2 years of use while these UTEP scrubs probably won’t last me that long & cost over $ 60/pair! I think it’s crappy that UTEP tries to rip off its students by forcing them to buy scrubs that are expensive & not comparable quality from scrubs that are around the same price range.
