this will be amazing experience, I cannot wait my membership with gold’s is finished to come here! Bring it on! I love having a place open 24⁄7 with this kind of equipment, where I am free to express the training style that I enjoy the most! Isn’t that beautiful? wowwwwww

This gym was pretty cool when I first started going there. All the metal there was pretty good to see all racks and all free weights was cool. And they have top of the line stuff here Buuut the thing I hated was that if I wasn’t paying some ridiculous amount of 200+ a month I could only train when the wasn’t there. Got kind of annyoing I had to go really early or late at night. Or if u did manage to work out while the team was there it was kind of like a «who is this guy and why is he still here vibe» «he doesn’t pay to work out with us» vibe. And it didn’t take alot of people to get the gym packed. For instance one time one of my friends was using a resistance band to dead lift and the manager came to tell us «stop it’s a new band» hmm isn’t that what a new band is for? To use for its resistance? Another we forgot a dipping belt here for a few days and then when my friend took it back he got accused of stealing? Idk great gym but if you can’t pay that monthly fee to be on the team you’ll be a outcast.

Best gym around! Old school, the way it should be. You want to squat, bench, deadlift? Then this is the place! Open 24 hours with membership-you can’t beat that. Owned buy a great guy –his pride of ownership really shines through.

This place is the real deal! If you are sick and tired of fads and gimmicks train here. Saying this is old school would be an understatement. You lift, you get stronger, and you are healthier. Take a look at this place when you have a chance. It gets crowded between 3 – 8 M-F so avoid these times if you can. The gym is 24 hour access.

I used to work out here for a couple of years. As far as gyms goes, this is a small one(my favorite kind of gym) because I can focus on my workouts and not be deafened by too loud house/dance music and the smell of guys wearing Dolce & Gabbana cologne and high 5-ing each other every 5 minutes like I get when I do the big box gyms. The only thing that hurts this gym is the fact that the fitness instructor tends to treat people that are NOT his clientele like they don’t exist or be downright rude to them. Its 24 hour access means that one can avoid anybody whom they don’t want to deal with which is why I changed my schedule a few times to avoid the groups. Douchebaggery aside, its a good gym. The thing that bugs me about this place is the fact that there’s only one cardio machine(treadmill) and its broken half of the time, a big turn off for me. I would recommend this gym IF they get some more cardio machines in. No shower, very small changing room with only a curtain between you & privacy and a single co-ed toilet.

The owner Mike is great. I was only here for 3 months but enjoyed lifting. The only issue I had is the small size. Because I do olympic type lifting, I needed the space to do it, and felt as though I was always getting in everyone’s way.

If you’re looking for lots of treadmills, cardio equipment and machines, look elsewhere. This gym is for those who either know how to(or want to learn how to) to train with free weights and other functional training equipment. Upon entering the gym, you know you’re in a training environment… a place you’re going to get better. It’s a small space but the people are friendly, cooperative and work together. There’s a good blend of people at all training levels from competitive athletes and powerlifters to your Average Joe and Jane. You can use chalk, lift heavy weights, perform the olympic lifts, etc. without the fear of getting yelled at. You have access to kettlebells, a variety of different types of barbells, Kilogram plates, Dumbbells up to 150 lbs, Sand bags, Bands, Chains, Rings, TRX, Ropes, Plyo boxes, etc. Rates are VERY reasonable, and the best thing about the gym is you get your own key! 24 hour access.

4 Star Gym, on Main Street in El Segundo, is a fantastic gym that is heavily geared towards real strength training. Whether you are interested in powerlifting, bodybuilding, strength training for sports(such as football, basketball, baseball, etc.), crossfit, or even gymnastic strength training, 4 Star Gym has you covered. Equipment includes, but is not limited to: 2 power racks(one of which is probably the nicest anywhere in the South Bay) Forza Bench(I believe Scott Mendelson benched 1000 lbs. on it) Tons of Ivanko(super high quality) official kg. plates Most of the powerlifting tools(bands, chains, boards, boxes, etc.) Bumper plates(for olympic lifts) Gymnastic rings Pull-up bars Dip bars If you are into crossfit training, 4 Star Gym has pretty much all you need at a fraction of the cost that most crossfit gyms charge. Best of all, you pay as you go. There are no contracts, but there are special rates if you pay for 3, 6, or 12 months. The owner, Mike Goff, is a great guy who is very approachable and open to member suggestions. 4 Star Gym is much more like a community than a business, and is the only gym in the South Bay I’ll go to. I cannot recommend this gym enough.

I was recommended by a coworker to this gym so I decided to try it out. The gym is reasonably priced(around $ 30 a month, less if you do longer-term membership) and has lots of different equipment as well as free weights. Unlike other gyms that I have been to, almost all of the equipment here is for weightlifting and strength training. There is a pull-up bar, bars for doing dips, machines for legs, arms, shoulders, abs, a lot of weights, dumbbells, a punching bag, and pretty much anything else you would need to get stronger. During the times I went, it was never that crowded. Since I always went during lunch time, I would always see the same people. Most of them seem like they’ve been working out there for a long time and I was a bit intimidated at first since I haven’t done much weightlifting, but they there all courteous and friendly. I also met the owner of the gym, Mike, a few times. He is very nice and knowledgeable about weightlifting. Whenever I asked him for some advice about different exercises, he recommended some to try and even watched my form and made corrections to make sure I was doing the exercises properly.

You know those gyms where: — everyone’s a douchebag — no one knows what the hell they’re doing — someone hogs equipment even though they’re using it incorrectly — everyone’s rude and inconsiderate — the place is overly crowded — people do curls in the squat rack That’s NOT this place. That’s why I love going there. 4 Star Gym has been in El Segundo for decades(I want to say 40 years). It’s a small, private gym with adequate equipment. That being said, no, there are no ellipticals or bikes and there is only one treadmill. However, there are tons of plates, a forza competition bench, dumbbells up to 200 lbs, a forza deadlift platform, bands, kettlebells, chains, and bells– everything you need to work out for real. My boyfriend and I found this gym after spending about year trying to powerlift at 24-hour fitness and finding ourselves getting dirty looks from people who couldn’t even squat their own body weight. The atmosphere at 4 Star Gym is unpretentious and very committed to quality lifting and exercise. Most patrons have been regulars for years, but they’re very open and welcoming. Many have competed in power lifting and have given valuable tips to help our progress. Mike is the owner of the gym and is very helpful and friendly. He is very committed to the upkeep– constantly upgrading and cleaning. The pricing for membership varies depending on whether you pay for 3, 6, or 12 months(with 12 months yielding the lowest monthly fee). For an additional $ 10 you are given an electronic key, which gains you access to the gym on a 24-hour basis(super convenient). For a test run, you can work out once for $ 10. Parking in the evenings is very easy since the street parking is fairly open(restricted to 2 hours before 6pm). While I still maintain my «other gym membership» for when I’m out of town, this is my regular spot.
