came here for extra credit couple years ago for a class and writing a review for it now. the place is old and crammed but the content of the footage was really good. food is a little pricey. the music instrument was spectacular and I hope this place doesn’t close. Locals should visit here with a family.

Hear that? It’s the beautiful sound of silent movies accompanied by live music. This place offers a one-of-a-kind experience and a full night of entertainment. When we first went, a great pianist played outside the theater while we stood in line for snacks. Once inside, guests are treated to a grand performance by a virtuoso playing the Might Wurlitzer organ. Before the main feature, you’ll be treated with short subjects or cartoons, and asked to sing along with old standards, which gets everyone in the proper mood. We opted to see The Phantom of the Opera, an amazing theatrical experience thanks to the expert organ playing. If you’re looking for a unique night out and love movies, this is the place.

Wonderful selection of old films with a description before the movie starts. There is plenty of parking, fresh popcorn(if you’re into that), candy, and other goodies. I love when they decorate for the holidays. The chairs are comfortable and the wurlitzer is such a treat. Bill and the other staff that I have had the pleasure of meeting are so very nice and they really enjoy what they do. The prices are very reasonable and I encourage those who visit to make a donation to keep this place going strong. I hope it continues to be around for may years to come.

I can’t get enough of this place! First of all, the venue is adorable. A small building with a big ol’ organ and classic theater seats. The shows are fun, too. They start with a history of the theater, then move on to a piano piece and an organ piece, then some silly songs, and then on to the featured film. I love the atmosphere and the line up of shows is awesome. Give it a try! You never know, you may love it.

I love this place. It is a lovely, old theater built in 1921, with free adjacent parking. Where else can you see classic films like Casablanca, Laura, and Gentleman Prefer Blondes, on the big screen, and for only $ 10? Viewing films like these on the big screen really is an experience like no other. If you love film, you owe it to yourself to see one, or all, of your favorite classics here. Sign up for their email, and you will see the list for the whole year, so you can plan accordingly. They also offer silent films, jazz bands, piano concerts with a 9 foot concert grand piano, ragtime festivals and more; really something for everybody. The evening begins with Mr. Field playing this spectacular Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ, with a sing along, and then a short film, before the main film commences. No matter which kind of event you choose to attend at the Old Town Music Hall, you will enjoy a wonderful evening!

I came here to support my friend, Vincent Johnson whom was one of the performers that day. It was the 40th ragtime music festival. Ragtime is such an underappreciated type of music which beautifully combines different styles into one. Small theatre to seat maybe a max of 50 people. Apparently this theatre holds black and white showings of all the classics which includes the original Frankinstein, and Phantom of the Opera. My 3 other friends and I were a good 50+ years younger than everyone else in the audience… everyone was OLD! Reminiscing the days of ragtime music. It made me appreciate music, and thought about how fun it must have been to dance to ragtime. I’ll be completely honest… I fell asleep to some parts of the performance but it was only because it was dark, quiet, and had music playing…

Lovely place to see an intimate show in charming downtown El Segundo. We had the joy of seeing Janet Klein & Her Parlour Boys play on the stage. Seats for this special event were reserved, and it was nice to not have to seek out a place to sit. The stage is dominated by The Mighty Wurlitzer Organ, which is lit in neon wonder and has been modified so as to record great concerts that have been given on the instrument. We were delighted to see a recording that had been made by a master organ player, and it was something to see. At intermission, there are coffees, teas, and snacks available at the little snack bar. Parking is ample along Richmond Street and in the surrounding neighborhood. Bathrooms are – well, two stalls in the ladies’ room. After all, it is an older spot. Highly recommended.

Parking is okay in the lot next to the building, even though it has signs that read permit only. Maybe because it was the weekend? The place is really cute inside. Seating seemed a bit snug, but manageable. The owner/performer, Bill, greets everyone at the door, made me feel like a welcomed guest in his home. Bill and as well as the other performer are very talented. The program was very entertaining and wholesome. You don’t see that alot in today’s world. My wife and I have visited twice and intend on returning as long as they remain open. Thank you Old Town Music Hall for a great time!

We bring people here all the time! Love this place. It is just such a great experience! You can tell that a lot of love has gone into this theater. So grateful that it is still there and for the volunteers and ownership that makes this place happen! Tip: cash only! Great snacks at a fair price so no need to sneak snacks in!

this place is a hidden gem!!! located off a small side street in El Segundo, this theater, is dare I say, magical. The mood is set instantly when you arrive greeted by a piano player situated outside the front doors in a small two story building that could’ve fit right at home in the 1930s. Once you pay(cash only! $ 10 for adults /$ 8 for seniors) and enter inside, you are greeted by a beautiful theater inside decorated in red and purple tones. The mainstage is outfitted with several different types of keyboards with the grand Wurlizter organ front and center. It’s a small theater that seats no more than 100 or so. The theater presents classic movies from 20s-50s(no Guardians of the Galaxy shown at this place) which only enhances the timeless feel of the place. The show we attended(The Marx brother’s Night at the Opera) began with a guy playing several oldtime tunes on the various keyboards on stage leading up to Bill; the wurlizter player, coming onstage to play the organ. He played several songs(ala the El Capitain) leading up to a group sing-along, which everyone surprisingly joined in on. this was followed by a 10 minute silent short leading into a 15 minute intermission before the main feature started. Amazing experience and will go again! some basics: as I mentioned earlier, it’s cash only. While they have a website, you can’t buy tix in advance so you have to go the night of the movie you want to attend. Box office opens up ½ hr before each show time. I believe they only screen friday-Sunday but you might want to double check that. They also offer occasional organ concerts on the weekend as well. And they have a large free parking lost adjacent to the theater.

I love love love this place. OK, yes, the seats aren’t very comfortable but everything EVERYTHING else about the Old Town Music Hall is awesome… …from the ragtime piano player to the mighty Wurlitzer organ, from the chandeliers/décor to the Disney-like show(wall full of neon-colored) pipes, from the singalong to the short subject, from the friendly people to the reasonably priced snacks… …and you haven’t even seen the movie yet.

My husband I have been coming here for about 15 years. We are huge fans of classic movies, and enjoy seeing them on the big screen when possible. What an absolute gem the Old Town Music Hall is! «Phantom of the Opera» is a Halloween tradition for us, and Bill Fields on the Mighty Wurlitzer never disappoints. A couple years ago we took our then-6-year-old to see Miracle on 34th Street at Christmas time. It was her first movie theatre experience, and she had the best time. She thoroughly enjoyed all the«extras» like the short film and sing-along — and of course that awesome Mighty Wurlitzer! The Wurlitzer is a feast for not only the ears, but the eyes as well — they have the«works» displayed so you can see where the music is coming from. It’s tucked into a sweet little neighborhood in El Segundo, with lots of restaurants and bars nearby, so you can make an evening of it. To top it off, parking in the lot is ample and free! Go now! Places like this are a dying breed.

Recently, I started taking myself out of this small box I’m in. If you asked me a year ago, I would have not been interested in visiting Old Town Music Hall because well, I wasn’t a fan of old, black and white movies. I know– call me narrow-minded, call me a snob, call me parochial. I know. However, one day, I just knew there was a bigger world out there that I wanted to learn about. I wanted to learn things that I didn’t know from the past, the present, the future. I am starting to try things out that I never would have tried before. After all, you can’t say you lived if you haven’t. We visited Redondo Beach this past weekend and I wanted to spend some time in a place that was chill, but historic and fun. I found this place on Unilocal — thanks fellow Unilocalers and I saw that they were playing Frankenstein. I’ve never watched Frankenstein(read above). All I knew or thought I knew about Frankstein is that Frankenstein was a monster that a Dr. made(See– that’s my narrowmindness). When we got there, there was plenty of parking in the lot to the right of the building. Tickets go on sale half an hour before the movie starts for $ 10/person. You can buy drinks and snacks there. The theatre was decked out with Halloween decorations and it was small, but very vintage and cute. Seats were a little uncomfortable, but I didn’t mind so much. They played the organ(s) which was pretty cool — and they had a light show. You have to go to experience it yourself. The sing along was fun, but I didn’t even know half the songs they were playing. I learned tons watching the movie! Frankenstein is the creator of the monster(Dr) and the monster is well, just the monster(no name). It was kind of a sad movie. It made me question if the monster was really bad — even though it did kill. It was just really interesting. On our way back to the hotel, my bf and I were discussing the movie and he tells me he read the book and continues to educate me on the story of the monster — Frankenstein never acknowledges the monster as a being, people were disgusted and rejected the monster for his appearance, and it was the way people treated him that made him evil. If you are in the area and not close-minded for old black and white movies like I used to be, you should try it out!

IF you love silent movies and classic old films OR would like to see them in a nice vintage looking setting that makes you feel you’ve stepped back in time… then THISISTHEPLACE. There’s also live jazz concerts here too. But wait… there’s more! They have a Wurlitzer organ with huge wooden pipes on stage that accompanies the silent movies and is demonstrated for you before every movie shown(silent or not). It was purchased and brought over from the Fox West Coast Theater in Long Beach back in the 70’s. I think you get your $ 10 dollars worth here and it all goes to a good cause since they are a Not For Profit. I LOVE this place, there’s ample parking all around and behind the theater and you don’t have to deal with Hollywood traffic and pay parking.

Are you kidding me? 10 bucks and I get to watch the amazing Wurlitzer perform a 20 minute show, an old serial AND the movie I originally paid to watch? AND the snacks are affordable? YES!!! Great amazing value for your money! You will not be sorry. Check this place out, please! A great hidden gem in adorable Old Town El Segundo! We went to watch Singin’ in the Rain and before the movie the Wurlitzer played many Singin’ in the Rain songs. It was amazing. Then we watched a Flash Gordon Serial, which was hilarious. After that we finally watched Singin’ in the Rain, which is one of my all time favorite movies. Got there for the 8pm show and didn’t get out until 11pm! There’s a lot of free parking in the lots right next to the hall.

A different movie is played each weekend. Make sure to check the schedule. Wurlitzer organ is worth seeing! There are also a few food items there– like tasty apple cider! Seats on the left and right recline back. However seats in the middle do not.
