food was good, but if you’re in a group over 6, don’t expect to sit together. They WILLNOT accomodate groups and put tables together.

The Mayfair Tavern has the best fish sandwich ever. That sentence is actually what I WANTED to get tattooed across my shoulders until my wife voted against it. She’s a total buzzkill. This is a terrific little restaurant. Although I’m not a year-round resident of the area, my family does vacation in Frankfort every summer, and I now make it a point to visit the Mayfair at least once a week. The atmosphere is casual, the patrons seem to be regulars, and the staff is friendly. I’ve had many items on the menu, but the fish sandwich is my all-time favorite. I don’t know what kind of fish or bread or cooking style(well…it’s fried), but what I do know is that it is frickin’ delicious. I spent last summer trying fish sandwiches all around the area, and they win hands-down. There are many restaurants in the area, and on days where we just can’t decide where to go, we know that the Mayfair is a sure thing. Yes, the kitchen can be a bit slow, but that’s easy to let go seeing as how the food is solid. Good prices, good food.

Good homemade soups, generous sandwiches, fresh Great Lakes fish when available, and one of the cleanest bars I’ve ever been in. Friendly staff; nice nautical ambience in keeping with its location near Betsie Bay and«the big lake.»

Wow, it’s been a couple years but new ownership has brought the Mayfair back! Food is fresh, fresh sliced meat on our sandwiches, large strips of bacon on the BLT. Let’s not forget a good beer selection. Sounds like they plan to expand and renew the décor this winter(14 – 15). I look forward to coming back for dinner:) Be patient, food prep a bit slower than others but keep in mind your meal Is being prepared fresher than others too…

In a nearly empty dining room our drinks and food arrived promptly, along with the check that we didn’t ask for and weren’t ready for. We had to flag down another server for a second round of drinks, dessert and coffee. Our original server plunked down a refreshed check without a word. Service, or lack thereof, can do such a dis-service to a dining experience, no matter how good the food and company. The manager should take note

Love this place — we have been waiting for it to reopen like it used to be and the new owners are doing the job. Love the Tomato Soup, went there for lunch a couple weeks ago and had the French Dip. One of the best that I have ever had. Server was kind of unattentive but that was ok. Love the décor. This is a place that I will frequent often. Cant get enough of it.

The NEW Mayfair Tavern is absolutely wonderful. Two weeks ago the Mayfair re-opened under new and talented ownership.
We’ve had dinner and drinks there 3 times now and are thrilled. The food is top notch quality no fuss food. The prices are down to earth. The ambience is warm and comfy. The wait staff is very accommodating — it’s an all around great place to have a nice evening.

A solid meal, a nice ambiance, and some killer root beer on tap. This place is nicer than it looks from the outside. I mean that as a compliment.

My 4 out of 5 stars is a rating based on the other restaurants available in the area. For the area this is definitely a 4 out of 5. They are one of the only non-smoking bars with a decent TV to watch the game. I was recently there watching the Red Wings play and was pleased to see several TV’s and a wide variety of beer on tap. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced. Micro and specialty beer was 3.50 a pint. I was thrilled to watch the game smoke free and not end up with a huge bar tab. Next time I’m in town, want a decent bite to eat and watch a game I’ll be at the Mayfair.

A raging debate goes on among my friends over restaurant, bars in the Northern Michigan area. Mayfair; it is agreed, quite possibly has the best Friday Fish Fry in the area. The outdoor bar/waiting area is a blessing all summer. Food, service, atmosphere is really better than average.
