Small tavern. Been going out there for a long time. Good burgers. Was surprised when the locals brought in pizza instead of ordering from menu. One bartender /cook. She kept up well. Wouldn’t take small kids. F bombs a plenty, but it’s a bar. Holiday drunks perhaps. Will continue to go there, again good burger. Been there when bikers have been there in the summer. Don’t think they ever made as much noise as the drunk chick’s tonight. Not sure why owners would only have 1 staff person for a Friday nigjt. Maybe they were Christmas shopping.

The reason to be in Elburn is, of course, to load up on sausages at Randy Ream’s Elburn Market– the best sausage-maker in northern Illinois, if not the entire Midwest. We always make it a day in the country, driving from Clarendon Hills out Roosevelt Road through Geneva to IL Route 45 and a mile south.(I-88 works, too.) After filling the trunk with sausages for the freezer, we go around the corner to Knucklehead’s for a great cheeseburger and a chat with the friendly lady bartender. Really nice, unless a motorcycle gang shows up– it’s still very friendly but a bit noisy! ;-) Last time we were there there were only three or four customers; halfway through lunch 27 guys on bikes came in. It was a lot of fun although, as I mentioned, noisy. Really like this place. The bikers are fun, too. Been going once or twice a year for over 25 years.

I have always liked this place well before it was called Knuckleheads Tavern. It had several different ownerships over the years. I can safely say that I was a silent investor simply by parking my ass on a bar stool that should’ve been pre-cast with a life like resemblance of my posterior. Basically. I probably paid for that stool if you know what I mean. The original Art Deco style back bar remains intact, however the 20 stool drinking bar area was reconstructed several years back The place is small and it doesn’t take much to fill up quickly. Currently Knuckleheads remains a «locals» bar that doubles as a friendly weekend Biker joint. They sell Knucklehead’s «T» shirts. But wait… Ladies, you can be the first on your block to proudly wear a Knucklehead’s «Thong». Think about it. Now that’s something to show off!
