I tried this place out as it was highly recommended by my friends and family. To hit all the points I will start by saying the atmosphere is amazing. As you walk in everything is all wood; hardwood floors, log-cabin style walls, and the benches/tables remind me of Germany. With those style tables, it is easy to eat, drink and have a conversation without yelling. The staff was extremely friendly and the lighting was perfect. Now let’s get down to the reason you would go here in the first place, the pizza. I was very hungry upon arrival and ordered two pizzas, a calzone, and breadsticks. I can say without a doubt the breadsitcks were the best I have ever tasted! The dough they use is really what makes the pizza and I must say it tasted fresh and delicious. Usually I am deprived of basil on my pizzas but these guys added the perfect amount. Everything was absolutely delicious and the staff were even so kind as to provide my cousin and i a complementary cinnamon roll breadstick dish for dessert and it WASSOGOOOOOD! On top of all this, they server craft beer, most from local breweries in Texas. They don’t brew their own beer here but the beer they do serve was great. I wanted a stout but they didn’t have any, however they did recommend a beer that comes close to what I was looking for and it was right up there with one of my favorite stouts, Left Hand Milk. I tried many of their other amber’s and Pilsners. All of them tasted amazing. All together I will say if you want to head to a place for some absolutely delicious pizza, amazing beer, perfect ambiance and friendly staff, this is your spot, look no further. I honestly wish I had a home or apartment that was across the street from this place so I could frequent it more often since I live in Hawaii…

This is a hidden gem in Elgin — hands down a must place to eat if you’re passing through or a resident. I particularly enjoy the Greek pizza with chicken. Only suggestion would be to find a way to improve signage from the road — the gas station covers the sign.

I found Aviators here on Unilocal and wanted to give it a try. First of all the restaurant was very nice and atmosphere was quite nice as well. I ordered 2 pizzas. A Hawaiian and a simple Italian sausage both with extra cheese. This review is just based on the sausage pizza. I truly expexted more based on the cost of the pizza and seeing the other pies on the tables nearby. I would hope the owners will read this constructivey and work to improve. First of of the toppings were tiny. Not just in quanity but in actual size. Smaller than new pencil erasers and they also lacked that great unique taste that I love in Italian sausage. Secondly the cheese was lacking especially after ordering extra. The second pizza was for the Mrs and she hasn’t made it home yet to give me her feedback… Based on my initial experience I would recommend Aviators for dine in only and get takeout elsewhere.

So fortunate to have a great pizza place like this in Elgin. Pizza is awesome! Beer selection is just as good!

Pizza was good, fresh ingredients, fast service. Nice beer and wine selection. The crust was great and sauce was good, wish they would have used a little more though. Would have gave 5 stars but the people working behind the counter were not helpful when we were figuring out how to order, we didnt get greeted and they seemed more concerned about yapping to each other than the customers

Had this pizza once before. Not that great and was expensive! I guess the bright side would be the variety of beer…

I came here on a whim with the bf as we were looking for somewhere to go in the area and he noticed all the glowing reviews. This place is right next to a gas station(literally the pumps are a few feet from the front door), but don’t let that dissuade you. When we walked in the place was immaculate. It’s cafeteria style with a lot of bench seating, and a few televisions on the walls. Fountain drinks are to the left, along with cutlery, napkins, salt & pepper shakers, and extra red pepper flakes and parmesan. We got there at just before 5pm so it was fairly quiet, but there were people in and out while we ate. We ordered a spinach salad to share and we each ordered a small(9′) pizza. He ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch and I got the Flying Garlic. The pizzas were okay, I’d definitely order the Chicken Bacon Ranch next time. While I love garlic flavor, the whole(roasted) cloves all over the pizza were a bit much, would have preferred them sliced. The REAL star of the meal was the salad! It was excellent(and large!) so perfect for two people to share unless you are eating the salad as your meal. Our bill was $ 20(no drinks for us, though they seemed to have an extensive beer selection as well as wine) so pretty reasonable for dinner. I will definitely be back, most likely for a salad!

Staff was amazing. The fun atmosphere was fun, clean, and well kept. I live in Round Rock and word on the street is this place is great; it truly did not disappoint. The pizza is sauced nicely, the ingredients taste fresh, and the bottom of the pizza is cooked to perfection. Seriously. It’s worth the drive.

This is one of the places my entire family can eat and all enjoy. There is a pizza for every taste, and enormous fresh salads. Trying out a new beer each time is fun for the grown ups. Sports and The 3 Stooges keep everyone entertained. Most of the time the service is top notch. On occasion there has not been anyone present and attentive to the patrons. I appreciate the cleanliness and relaxed atmosphere.

I was out in Elgin on business and as always when in a new city I try to eat at a great place. Well fellow Unilocalers you did not let me down! This is the best pizza I’ve had in Texas!!! The only thing that sucks is that I live so far way in Austin or this would be a new favorite place for me. I went at lunch time and I got my good really fast! The only time I’ve had better pizza was in NYC. They have a pretty decent beer selection as well. Simply put. .. . If you want some damn good pizza this place is a must!

Good beers and ciders on tap, yummy pizzas, great prices– this is a go-to date night for us, and has been for a while. The only issue I’ve ever had is sometimes when the sun is shining, it comes in strait through the windows– we just moved to another table, no problems. Great little place to get some nice pizza without having to drive into Austin.

I was pretty disappointed with my experience at Aviator. The categories listed for this place are Pizza, Italian and Breweries, so I expected a brewpub. Turns out they don’t make their own beer, but do have a nice selection of craft beers on tap. I love pizza though, so decided to stay and eat anyways. The place was really dark and no one greeted me when I entered so after asking the only employee I could find several questions it became evident you order at the bar area and they bring the food to you. I proceeded to order a lunch pizza with two toppings and sat down. A few minutes later, the food came out with the wrong toppings(I was the only person there waiting on food). At this point I was hungry and ready to get on the road so I didn’t send it back. I wouldn’t have been able to anyways though, as no one ever came back out from the kitchen to check on my order. I ate in silence and left without seeing anyone again. The pizza tasted like it came from the gas station next door. It was really thick and not crispy at all(but not deep dish style either). The sauce was bland. Ultimately, I think this place has a lot of potential. I would return for a drink but not the food. The young lady who waited on me was polite, but lacking in customer service experience.

This is my third or fourth visit and each time it has been consistently good. House wine for $ 3, can’t go wrong, but they also have a good selection of draft beer. It’s located at an Exon gas station!?! Yup you read that correctly. If you are in Elgin, driving through or have an afternoon to kill, I say check this place out.

I’m going to have to jump on the five star bandwagon! We’re house hunting in the area, and we’ve always missed this place tucked between a bar and a convenience store, probably because the sign is funky and cool but hard to see from the road. Lunch was in order, so we stopped in. Many others had had the same idea, but the atmosphere was still welcoming. The order station and menus are on the right hand side of the bar, under the big chalk letters«order here», which seemed to be hard to find for some newcomers. We had the Ground Control with no olives, and this pizza was superb! The ingredients were crazy fresh, and I cannot figure out, for the life of me, how they cooked this pizza the way they did. Clearly, i have become used to mediocre pizzas from Austin chains, but this place spoiled me. The hand tossed crust was some how completely crisp without the toppings being overcooked. Truly how pizza is supposed to be prepared! We’re not beer drinkers, but they have an extensive collection. I also noticed the menu they have on their website is not their full menu as there are more speciality pizzas(like one made with Myers’ Sausage) and calzones. We cannot wait to go back. Plus, you have to love a place whose motto is «Wake Up. Kick Ass. Repeat.»

I’m not sure why it took so long to give an updated review, for that I apologize. The food is really good here. The pizza has a slightly sweet crust and there is always an over abundance of toppings. Tonight we had a ham and black olive pizza and it was covered in chopped ham and lots of olives. We also had the el Ranchero salad(which is my favorite) and it is amazing the amount of toppings it had on it. The owner also stopped by to ask how the pizza was. I always appreciate that! My only reservations are that the green olives in the salad always have a rather weird taste to them. Next time I’ll just order it without. Also, the very nice young girl couldn’t answer many questions about the growlers they sell. That’s ok, next time I’ll just ask to speak to someone else. If you are in Elgin and need a pizza… don’t waste your time with the chain places, go to Aviators and have a good pizza!

We stopped in on our way back from Port Aransas and we left 100% satisfied. They have 15 taps with 9 being Local or Texas craft beers. Aviator Pizza and Breweing Co. rotate their beer selection so it’s not the same stuff each visit. You’re allowed to sample a beer prior to purchase. The food is great. The salads are big and full of toppings. The pizzas are were well cooked and taste excellent. We had the 4 cheese pizza and chicken bacon ranch pizzas. Stop by if you like craft beer and great pizza

Happened to be in the Elgin area and wanted to get something for the family for dinner. We called in an order for pickup. We got a medium ground control and a medium double bacon cheeseburger and added onion. My 2-year-old didn’t really care for the pizza. My husband and I loved the amount of toppings on the ground control. The double bacon cheeseburger was only okay. We don’t really drink beer, but I did see that they sell wine. Service was slow. When I went inside to pick up the pizza there was a line. There were 2 cashiers/servers, but only one of the computers was working. Everyone was in the same line: the people picking up to-go orders and the people dining in. I went to the restroom and came out and still had to wait 10 minutes to pick up my pizza. Perhaps if both computers were up and running it would’ve been a shorter wait.

Their pizza is absolutely amazing. I prefer the spinach artichoke pizza with, pepperoni, feta cheese and a pesto base but have tried quite a few different pizzas and they are all delicious. My only complaint is their cheesy bread isn’t cheesy enough for my tastes but i’m sure they wouldn’t have a problem adding extra if you request it. They never fail to have a friendly and helpful waitstaff. I grew up in Elgin and it has been long overdue for a premium pizza eatery and not just another mediocre chain restaurant. Even better is the fact that they have so many craft brews on draft that you can usually only find at Specs. They have a couple TV’s so it’s not a bad place to grab a warm meal, a cold brew and watch the game with family or friends. I hope they stick around because this is quickly becoming one of my favorite pizza places.

I’m stoked to find that this level of quality is coming out to our area of town. Aviator’s pizza game is on point and will most definitely thrive in our community. The staff was prompt and pleasant and our food came out exactly to order. I am impressed at the quality of ingredients and can easily say this is the best crust I’ve ever had on a pie. I can’t wait to come back to try their new pasta menu!
