I’ve been a repeat customer at Dr. Berg’s office and generally been pleased until this last experience. It’s a shame, I really liked this Dr. despite the fact that his front office was less than average. The last time I saw the Dr we agreed that I would call and get an order for a CT if this recurring sinus issue came up again, that way he could get a better look at what was going on to treat me. So as instructed I called last week because the sinus problem came back, and they are telling me that the doctor won’t treat me without seeing him first. I explained that I was doing EXACTLY what he told me to do by calling, they said it didn’t matter and that I had to go in first. I wasted an entire day on the back and forth over this discussion. I can only surmise that they are doing this to maximize their income through as many visits as possible, there was no disadvantage to treating my case by ordering a CT first, except then they could not bill me for two visits instead of one.

Since when a doctor’s office will not send medical records to another doctor’s office? I asked the receptionist to do this and she began a diatribe about how I would need to sign a release and pay a fee. This is ridiculous. I have moved since I last saw Dr. Berg(over three years ago) and I thought maybe it was worth the drive out to Elgin to see him again; however, the receptionists have(when I went there the first time as well as now) really turned me off this place. There are lots of other doctors, so I’m going to one closer to home. Still not sure why on earth I would need to sign a release and pay fees when I am only requesting that my old records be sent over to another doctor. I did not ask to pick them up for my own personal use.

Incredibly incompetent staff who are rude and are not aware of the proper protocol of speaking with patients, HUGE errors in billing… Will make you go through needless tests. Just NO.
