I have eaten at Dotzys several times since they opened. I enjoy the haystack and fried onions to get things going. the ribs and brisket are both tender and full of flavor. Their spicy sauce isn’t too spicy but it has a nice kick, the Burben sauce is very sweet. Save room for the COOKIE for desert. The staff is very friendly(Madeline has a great smile) the only bad thing is that the place is not going to be easily expanded in its existing location. Elgin is such a cute little town and has needed business in its downtown for years. I hope they are able to be successful there.

Neat place tucked away. Great service, food was good, drinks appropriate. Although in order to use debit or credit card there is a fee. So plan on cash. A nice evening not too crowded and there wasn’t a long wait. Would certainly go again.

The family and I went to Dotzy’s last Sunday night. I had heard good things about it and I am a BBQ fan so being only 20 miles from a BBQ place I had to go and check it out. We started out by ordering their haystack onion rings and the nachos. The o-rings were light, crispy, had a great flavor to them and their dipping sauce was also good. We also had the nachos with pulled pork. Having pulled pork on nachos seemed weird so that is why I had to try it. It was very good and the pork fits well with the dish. The kids each had the mac and cheese from the kids menu. Since I had to share my ribs with them I tasted some of their mac. It was home made creamy deliciousness(is that even a real word?). I do have one gripe, bbq places should have some kind of kids rib plate because my kids can’t be the only kids that want to steal ribs from their parents. I had the ribs with baked beans and baked sweet potato. The ribs were very good and tender. I ordered mine with their house bbq sauce and a side of the hot bbq. The house sauce was chunky and oniony(I love making up words). I liked it the best of all 3 sauces. I thought the hot bbq was good but it was more like buffalo sauce with some bbq added to it. The beans were good and so was the sweet potato. My wife ordered the brisket with a twice baked potato and coleslaw. The Brisket was excellent. She had the Bourbon BBQ sauce with it. It was also ok but a little to salty for my likes, I would giver it higher marks for less salt. I did not like the slaw but I am extremely picky on how I want slaw so I don’t fault them for me not loving it. After all was said and done we were all stuffed and had a togo box full of food for the next day. I really enjoyed our meal and will go back again, and I will also recommend it to other people. My only complaint is that there is no tap beer. Their bottled beer selection was ok but I would have loved a good dark stout or an IPA with my ribs.

Wonderful environment. Lot’s of fun. Western theme. We have been there four times so far. Our favorites are the cowboy burger, the tumbleweed onion, chili and the cocktails.
