Kelly was absolutely fabulous as wine steward!!! We would say that flying leap has the best wine in Arizona wine country!!! Their wine is high quality!!! We purchased a dry white, a dry red, and a port which would be delicious for cigar smoking or a dessert wine.

Most definitely one of the better wineries in the area… bring your own glass for a discount on the tasting. A great selection of reds and whites, and lots of good rubs for meats.

This review is actually for the tasting room in Tubac AZ. I had a really fun wine tasting /rub tasting experience. The tasting charge is $ 10, included 9 tastings! Tom, one of the partners is knowledgeable, as well as charming. The tasting room is a bit tucked away, so make sure you find it when you’re in Tubac. The wines are all very good. I am not a sparkling wine lover but I ended up buying 2014 trio — yummy!

I had quite a good time when I visited. I was treated with respect and the person serving wine was really nice to me. I would recommend the Trio of you are into effervescent wine. I liked it a lot.

Had an enjoyable experience at Flying Leap. Their Tempranillo and Petit Verdot were delicious and we took a few with us. Their price point is about $ 35/bottle. They also have an assortment of sauces and rubs for meats and poultry that were quite tasty.

The most high class wine tasting place in the area. This comes of course with a upscale price on bottles. The wine glasses here were wide bottomed and high quality which I would recommend purchasing. The wines contained a fantastic blend which were quite tasty. Even though it was busy during our tasting we got exceptional service from the ex airman and would come again.

If they had more wines to choose from I would give 5 stars, but was one of our favorites with our last visit. Previously owned by another family, for which they use some of the previous vines and have added partial vines from Spain for a majority of the wines. They also had a pure Petit Verdot which is rare and was very good. The Tempranillo was the best there, and the company was also very laid back and fun. They also sell rubs, sauces, and accompaniments to go with the wines. Owned by 3 former pilots and looking to be a hit with locals and people from around the world! Cheapest tasting in Sonoita which was refreshing.

Our first wine tasting stop & probably my favorite in terms of quality that we tried that day! the tasting was $ 10(in summer 2014) since we didn’t have our own wine glasses(but you get to keep the wine glass as a souvenir and to take to other wineries) and it included 6 wines and complimentary biscotti, chocolate chips, & crackers for nibbling very quiet atmosphere, you can bring a picnic & enjoy your wine they also have a shop in Tucson! NOTE: they have one table indoors and a few outside.

Great wines. The ambiance is pretty cool. Surrounded by barrels while drinking wine is always awesome! The guy pouring wines had a great personality and was very knowledgable. Loved the wines here. Make sure you hit this place up on your tour!

The service here was great. Sadly I can’t remember the name of the man providing our tasting but he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. They give you a little bit of chocolate with the wine if you like too. The port was pretty good and if you bring your own glass it’s only around $ 7 a person(living in the Bay Area I find this very cheap).

From the moment we stepped into the tasting room I knew I would like it here. We were greeted with smiles and welcoming words immediately and handed the wine tasting list. Everyone that works there was wonderful and they kept approaching us to pour us more wine(which you don’t see happen very often in Sonoita). Every single wine was explained to us which was a nice surprise and we were told which foods to pair with each wine, as well as how to drink them(i.e. with a little bit of chocolate, etc). Yes, they have chocolate there and it was great! I ended up purchasing a bottle of their rosé because I was told it would go great with salmon and the wine was wonderful, crisp and refreshing. I also like that they had already selected the wines for tasting(6 wines on the list). As much as I can appreciate a good selection to choose your own, sometimes you just want to be lazy and have someone do the work for you and make those picks. I liked every single wine that was available for tasting; their dessert wine was very sweet and delectable(like eating dessert, yumm). They are conveniently located between Callaghan and Kief Joshua wineries and is a must stop location. I will definitely be going back hoping to explore more of their wines.

CAUTION — you pay for your tiny, minute samples of wine. The wine is nasty. The guy running this place was talked into by his buddies. He was dressed like he was just working in the field. The wine was harsh and very, very bitter — yes, all 6 with the White being the worst. A rip of $ 12 to drink samples of crappy wine. They will not Warn you that the samples cost money … Insane prices for such crappy wine — $ 35 a bottle … wow

This was the friendliest winery during our visit, though it was probably my least favorite wine of the tour. Not to say it wasn’t good it just didn’t match other places. I will still be back on my next trip to the region and hope to sample new ones.

Terrific tasting room! We came in a group for my birthday and we has such a nice time. Rolf seated us at a table and brought the tastings to us. We were greeted right away and made to feel very welcome. Rolf came by from time to time to fill us up and share his insights on the wine– he was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. The wines were all really nice– we were super happy with the tastings which cost 6 $ for the flight(we brought our own glasses). My personal favorite was the 2011 Granacio($ 29 bottle), which was so very nice! Everyone at the table also enjoyed the 2011 Head Over Heels($ 30.85 bottle) — rave reviews all around. This tasting room was a different experience compare to the one we had while in Wilcox, more laid back and casual(they even had some lounge mood music piped through the room, very chill vibe) — I was really happy to have such a great time here with my friends. This vineyard also has a tasting room in Wilcox, and they plan to open another soon in St. Phillip’s Plaza in Tucson! woo hoo, can’t wait to try this in Tucson!

I can’t believe that this place only has three stars! We visited their Elgin tasting room last weekend and had a fabulous time. We were a party of four with my husband being the designated driver and my mom, mother-in-law, and I tasting wine. We brought our own glasses from home so it was only $ 6 to taste. They were pretty busy when we walked in but they still made sure we got some personalized attention. We ended up sitting at the large community table to get out of the way of the big group congregating at the bar but the gentleman serving the wine came over and poured our samples for us where we were seated. Even though it’s a pretty casual setting… basically a warehouse… it was still pretty cool looking with all the wine barrels around. And I did appreciate all the seating and I thought it was pretty cool that they had lots of wine magazines and coffee table books around that you could flip thru. It felt like somewhere you would want to hang out for a while. I really enjoyed their Albarino which was crisp but still well rounded. Apparently this one is left over from when they were Canelo Hills winery. It was $ 19 and well worth it. I also purchased a bottle of their 2011 Grenache, an absolutely perfect red, which everyone agreed was their favorite. That one was priced a little higher than the others at $ 28 but I am looking forward to enjoying it at home.

A warm welcome, tasty wines, crackers AND chocolate! M and I walked in to Flying leap and were warmly welcomed by Rachel, our tasting room hostess. She seemed to enjoy her job and was enthusiastic about the wines the offer. She explained that this new winery was started by three retired airmen, hence the name! The varieties served on this particular day were quite good, my favorite of the day being the Grenache Noir. The tasting room is small but beautiful with local art adorning the walls. I could spend a decent amount of time at Flying Leap.

I bought a groupon for wine tasting for 4. I was a little nervous given the only review on here is negative, but I was pleasantly surprised. The tasting room is pretty sparse, but from what I understood, they are still getting themselves settled in to the place. The guy who poured our tastings was friendly and great at answer our questions. The tasting consisted of two whites and four reds. Only two of the wines were made with their grapes because it takes a few years for a winery to yield a useable grape crop(an interesting little tidbit our knowledgeable pourer taught us). I prefer reds to whites but I really liked the two whites here. They were crisp and dry– the perfect summer wine! The reds were all really good. The Zin and Cab were made with their grapes. If these were a signal of things to come, I definitely can’t wait to try their future wines made with their grapes! But overall, the Grenache was the best I ended up buying a bottle to take home. After the tasting, we walked through the vineyards in the back. We didn’t venture too far because the ground was soaked and muddy from the rain. Still, the view as great and the backdrop made for some good pictures. I would definitely love to come back when it’s not raining! The normal price for tastings here is $ 6 or $ 10 if you want the glass. If you are wine tasting in Sonoita, Flying Leap is definitely worth a stop!
