Ordered a number 9 at the voice box and they were nice enough. There is no reduction in cost if you get a water instead of a drink; They will give you a bottled water. Rolled up to the window and was given a verbal confirmation«number 9?» Switched my drink to a sweet tea, paid for the food, did not recieve a reciept, took my food and left. Got back to my apartment to find the order 100% incorrect. Fried chicken fingers instead of roast chicken, and no sides. Will not stop by Golden Chick again.

Order was fast and food was warm, however it wasn’t amazing or anything. I stopped here after being on the road for a while and kept seeing advertisement signs, so I figured I’d try it out. It satisfied my appetite but isn’t a place I’d really be longing to go to again.

The service was a little slow and my order was a little off. I had to wait a while for my catfish as opposed to eating the catfish that had been sitting on the counter. I did enjoy it though I felt it could have been seasoned better. The lemonade that I rave about also seemed a little watered down. Wasn’t the best experience but wasn’t the worst. I wasn’t given a roll but that was remedied after letting them know.

Mediocre chicken. High prices. Customer service could have been better. Walmart 8 piece chicken for 7.00 is a better alternative.

Driving to Houston and needed a bite to eat. Went through the drive thru, ordered a 4 piece spicy chicken tenders. There was no spice, instead they give you spice packets. How can you call it spicy if it isn’t served that way? The chicken does taste good, hence the 3 stars. The packaging is not conducive to eating out of. Everything is stacked in and it just doesn’t work. There were no napkins _it’s drive thru, so that should be a given to include napkins. Macaroni was blah but the mashed potatoes were good.

Shhhh. Don’t tell, but Golden Chick does more than delicious, crispy chicken tenders with soft yeast rolls and peppery gravy for dipping. I had no idea they also offered excellent Southern fried, cornmeal-battered catfish fillets! Oh, I am so happy! This East Texas girl misses some good Southern-style catfish. Now I have my place to get a quick fix as I’m driving through from Austin to Houston. If you aren’t into crispy tenders or catfish, you have the option of roasted chicken pieces, traditional fried chicken pieces, salads, and traditional sides. If you’re *really* into Southern food, you can go to town on the Livers & Gizzards combo. Check out the whole menu here: Did you know that Golden Chick was started right here in Central Texas, with their first store opened in San Marcos in the 1960s? They claim to have been the first to use the chicken tenderloin as a «cut» of chicken in a fried chicken joint. They are now a franchise system with locations all over Texas and Oklahoma.

Getting bored, so off to another animal… Fried chicken was crisp, hot and fresh. No better, or worse then KFC. It is a different flavor, but still good. Mashed Taters were really good. Wife’s chicken tenders were crisp and tasted great. Rolls were tasty. Battered frys were crunchy and of course went great with the with gravy… Best thing… close to home.

Chicken is good, but the real prize is the bread. I wonder if I can just buy the breadrolls by themselves…
