Very tasty treats that are authentic and fresh. I’ve tried many bakeries from all around the Chicagoland area and I’ve got to say that your Conchas are by far the best I’ve tried! I fell in love with the bakery itself. As I made my way inside I felt like I was taken into a whole different decade. Its very cute yet city like. I suggest everyone to give them a try

The bread is stale and bad customer service. Not a lot of variety(not that it would make a difference).

Nice building, but the cookies were very hard. My son seemed to like the cookies, but he likes anything with sugar. I have seen better.

Horrible bakery. I wish I could boycott them. I stopped by there on a Saturday morning. Here’s how it went: I asked the man at the counter if he had chocolate 3 leches cake, he says«No, but I have vanilla cake.» I say«OK, I’ll take the vanilla» ASSUMING, he meant vanilla 3LECHES cake, seeing as how I was inquiring about 3 leches! So I get home for my sons birthday party, go on about my day. When it comes to cutting the cake, it’s dry! Not only is it NOT3 leches, the frosting is hard and the strawberries are chewy! My wife studied pastry making in school(we had no time to bake our own cake) and she says to me «this cake is at least 2 – 3 days old.» So I call the bakery to complain about the wrong cake and right off the bat, the guy gives me an attitude. He tells me that I asked for a vanilla cake. To which I said«yeah, you said ‘no chocolate 3 leches’ but you had vanilla and I asked for vanilla!» He tells me he assumed I wanted plain old vanilla cake. Not only that, he tells me 3 leches cakes are $ 26.00 and he charged me $ 22.00. How the«F» am I supposed to know how much cakes cost!!! So then I asked why the cake was so old and he said it was baked Friday. Well, who wants a day old cake?! He said it was normal to have a day old cake. At that point, my wife took the phone away and argued with the guy about how old the cake was. The frosting was brittle, the cake tasted like a fridge, and it was dry as hell. The strawberries weren’t even crisp, they were mushy and chewy. Finally the guy ended up offering us 50% off on our next cake. So we say #1 we won’t need another cake for a year and #2 why would we want your nasty ass cakes again anyway?! So we hung up on him. So if any of you read this after May 18th2013, you can go to this dump and tell them your«brother» sent you because they sold him a crappy cake and then maybe YOU can get 50% off a cake on my behalf. I sure as hell won’t be going back. Next time I’ll try my chances at La Rosita. They seem to have more business.

I found myself in Elgin on a weekday afternoon because I had to run a work errand that could only be done in Elgin. No, it didn’t involve the Grand Victoria casino, which, I didn’t know was even IN Elgin. But, what I did was legal(for those who know me, you should be slapping your knee at my pun). I missed the 4:13 pm Metra back to Chicago, so I figured I could« Unilocal-explore» the town for 40 minutes. 40 minutes wasn’t enough to sit down at a restaurant, so I located this little bakery. I agree with Marc B’s review in that when I walked in, I felt like I was bothering someone. I just barely noticed the cashier. The bakery was dark. And, the downstairs restaurant was foreboding and I assumed, empty. The baked goods here are what you would find in Chicago latino bakery: a lot of sweet bread, some elephant ears, and an attempt at a croissant. They do not provide tongs so you manually grab what you want(unhygenic?). There also aren’t napkins. I got the cheese croissant and it was bland. But, it only cost me 86 cents so I don’t consider it a a loss. Heck, I just spent $ 1.25 on an ice cream sandwich from my work vending machine :-/.

This place looks like it should be better than it is. Great signage outside. Gorgeous building. But every time I went in there I felt like I was bothering someone. They were friendly — as friendly as they would be if you walked into their living room and asked for pastries. Their restaurant downstairs never really got off the ground. I don’t think they’re really serious about running it.

Cool building. I had a bite of my gf’s muffin and it was quite tasty! However, for your standard Mexican bakery fare, it was a bit pricey. It’s all about La Rosita for my money…
