I think that this was one of the worst breakfasts I have ever eaten. The bacon was cold and limp was made hours ago, the biscuit was as hard as a rock and the grits were tasteless. My husband had the biscuits and gravy that was terrible. But the server was nice. Don’t waste your money here!!!

Not going back. I gave this place a second chance and dinner there was a total disappointment. At 6pm on a Saturday night, they actually ran out of pasta, even though it was one of that night’s specials. That’s right, NO pasta whatsoever. And they did not bother to tell me until 10 minutes after I placed my order. Of the 4 entrees that arrived at our table, all 4 had broccoli that was overcooked and barely warm. Three of the 4 entrees had very overcooked salmon, and the fourth had small, bland scallops.

This is a small café tucked away in Elizabeth City. We were visiting our daughter and son-in-law over the Easter holiday. We stopped for lunch on the day we left for Florida. The food was fresh and excellent, the service was exceptionally friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Great food in a great setting! It’s my favorite place to grab lunch in EC, which is wrought with fast food chains. I can’t recommend it enough if you’re in the area

I was in town on business and wouldn’t eat at the usual chains. Delighted to find this gem, a true Unilocal find. Monterro’s was closed for lunch so headed here. The menu was simple and seems like brunch or dinner was the best. They don’t serve either. I wasn’t really in the mood for a sandwich or salad… so did a crab cake. It was fair. Hard to give a Tidewater guy a crab cake. I wouldn’t get it again but did appreciate the taste, local ingredients, and to come back for breakfast or dinner! :)

I really enjoyed this restaurant. I went with a friend who is a local to the area, she had not been(and doesn’t use Unilocal), but took my suggestion. We were not disappointed. After sharing the hot apricot jam and brie appetizer(YUM) she and I both had soup. I was very satisfied with the French Onion Soup, as was she with the Potato Soup. For dinner, I had their homemade burger, with chunks of cheddar cheese in the meat. This was my only critique, I thought that the cheese was very subtle and almost a little too bland for my taste. There was not much cheese, not that I wanted it to overpower the burger, but I was left wanting a little more. I ordered my burger Medium and it was cooked perfectly. Also, I had a drink while I was there– unfortunately they do not have any on draft. I will definitely be back anytime I am in town.

Smell the Water before you drink it. I got served bleach by accident. One sip of that stuff is all it takes to ruin a good breakfast and deliver a wave of nausea. I certainly understand mistakes under new ownership, but the fact that they did not even offer to take my meal off the check got them this review. I would’ve said no thank you, but the offer was never made.

Absolutely amazing. The service was wonderful. We call ahead and Jefri answered and was very nice. She was also our server when we came in. She and the other girls were working very hard. We had a classic two eggs style meal and their special, an Italian eggs Benedict. Both were absolutely amazing. The place is clean and very cute. We loved our experience here!

I have been here a few times now and have enjoyed every meal I have had. Small bistro atmosphere with a personal flair. My favorite is one of their inventive flatbread combinations and a bowl of soup. The flatbread is enough to satisfy two or even three people if they each get soup as well. Today I ventured into a «Juicy Lucy» burger because my first choice item was unavailable. The«Juicy Lucy» consists choice of cheese stuffed inside a burger with your choice of toppings on a perfectly toasted kaiser roll. I rarely eat a burger, so when I do, I want it to be phenomenal. I wasn’t ecstatic, but it was good and I suspect my own choice of cheese is why I wasn’t completely satisfied and no fault of the establishment. The advertised 2⁄3 pounder was definitely substantial and I ended up taking half of it home with me. I did not however, leave any spare fries, which are an additional charge; they were fresh cut skin-on potatoes seasoned with salt and pepper and quite tasty. Overall I have been satisfied here and it’s a nice place to sit and chat with a friend and enjoy a decent repast.

I have mixed emotions. I can see this being a great restaurant. It is easy to fall in love with it. I want it to survive. I encourage others to go and write an honest review.

Perfect place for brunch or breakfast! I had a delicious crabby eggs Benedict(crab cakes instead of ham) and my husband had the French toast. Both excellent. Great friendly service, nice comfy atmosphere. We’ll definite be back next time we’re in town!

Love Sidney’s! We are regulars there. They have wonderful breakfasts– I especially love their version of Egg’s Benedict. Classy & fun, and they strive for consistency, cleanliness & good food. We love their servers & the owner– hard working, caring & always kind to my kids. It is my favorite place in town!

Stopped by on a Friday evening as I was looking for a quick bite in town. The place was fairly crowded(not too hard to do, given the size), but I happily took a seat at the bar. Service was courteous and friendly, and the manager popped over occasionally to make sure things were going fine and to chit chat, as I was dining solo. Attentive without being stifling, which was nice. I kept it pretty simple and went with the shrimp and grits with a side salad, which was a decent choice; the shrimp may have been just a tad overcooked, but the flavor was nice and the portion was filling without being excessively huge. Dressing on the salad was made in-house. For the beer drinkers, it’s bottles only(no taps), but I didn’t partake anyway. Unpretentious but a little nicer than your average café. Would recommend to others looking for something along those lines.

I’ve eaten here many times now and generally the quality is good and the service is too. Like any other place, there have been instances of up or down. Nothing terrible unique or creative on the menu that I have noticed, but I’ve seen some pretty interesting specials. I like it for a convenient weekend breakfast in a non-greasy spoon type of place.

My friend and I went for lunch; we had a coupon to buy 1 entrée and get the second free. Her sandwich was mostly roll with little filling; my wrap was pretty empty. The bill for 2 entrees(1free) and 2 soft drinks was $ 19 and change. The only thing I can recommend is the hand cut fries. We won’t be back!

I live in Raleigh however I grew up in eastern North Carolina and I’m very familiar with Elizabeth City. growing up I would have never imagined that a place quite as quaint, delicious, and with so much pizzazz would it ever exist in Elizabeth City. This café could easily compete with any of the ones here in Raleigh, this town should be glad that it has such a diamond of a eating establishment to go to.

I guess everyone has an off day! 45 min wait for a burger about the size of a small slider in any place I ever seen. Forgot lettuce and tomatoes, when for ketchup but after 3 bites burger was gone. I could of used the ketchup on the raw French fries. Forgot my dates chicken on her chicken spinach salad. The couple next to us… Well he was served fast but wait staff forget her lunch.

Sidney’s is a diamond in the rough. We’ve been twice for dinner and have been blown away by the delicious food and friendly service. I love the Asian chicken wrap and my fiancé is partial to the crab cakes. Definitely our favorite spot in Elizabeth City!
