This is a hidden gem!!! Bad ass arepas I tell you. It’s small but comfy, service was awesome the girl took our order right away. Now to the good stuff the bandeja pasia was actually better than what we have. I had the Arepa Pasia omg it’s the bandeja inside of an arepa yummy. Did I mention the price is GOOD!!!

Small, clean and family business. The girl that took care of me was really nice and helpful. I had the lentil soup that was delicious and the ham and cheese arepa with tomato. It was good, but the ham is way tooooo thick, I don’t like it, it’s chewy. I will try something else next time.

Simply delicious! The la del mar, con queso, and la super poderosa arepas were AMAZING. Also, the bandeja paisa dish was to die for. Arepas pues is a must go! Two thumbs up.

Great prices, great food. Love the different arepa types as well as daily specials. Very typical Colombian food. Reminds me of Arepas Pues in Colombia. Must try!

Just moved to neighborhood and looking for a quick lunch. Decided to try this place. Never had arepas before but this was very delicious. I tried 3 types and all were wonderful. Bookmarked for a return visit.

In a town where there’s an abundant of Colombian restaurants. Arepa Pues has been the only one that I know of that offers carne molida and cazuela. The food here is comida tipica and very delicious.

A Colombian friend told us to check out this little joint. Upon entering we were greeted by the owner and her daughter. There’s only 2 small tables and counter seating. At first glance I thought this was going to be a forgetable experience, boy was I wrong. The food was amazingly fresh. The arepas are true Columbian style. I got one with beef, rice, beans, cheese and maduros(sweet plaintain), one word, yum! My husband and sister got ones with chicaron(pork belly) which was expertly crispy and not burnt. The homemade Colombian hot sauce was fantastic. The tostones were amazing and they even made me fried yuca :) Delicious and not expensive. Oh yea and the big kicker for me, for some this may be silly but I’m a big coffee drinker and my favorite cup of coffee is with dinner or right after dinner. When I sat down to eat I asked for coffee and they made me a fresh pot, I didn’t even have to ask(or suffer through bad coffee). That attention to detail and willingness to have a happy customer will keep me going back! Everyone should try this place. Great job Arepas Pues!

After a failed turn as a Kosher Taco joint, this restaurant store front has been reborn as a restaurant specializing in Arepas! A combination of corn dough and flour, this dish is popular in Columbia and Venezuela. Here, it acts as the base for their dishes. The first thing that struck me was how SUPER friendly the staff is. Everyone from the folks who man the cash register to the chefs in the kitchen work together to make you feel welcome with smiles and explanations on what the dishes on the menu are. The way the restaurant is laid out, most of the space goes to the cooking area with counter space around the main counter and some more near the front windows. There’s not a ton, maybe fifteen people would fit comfortably, but you can definitely take stuff to go. I first visited on opening day, and then just went again today. Between the two times I was able to have several of their dishes, so here’s the rundown: LAMARRANITA(Maduros, Chorizo and fresh fried pork rinds) The way the arepas are made here, they’re made thick and cooked til their outer crust is crisp, but the insides are still chewy. The ingredients are stuffed inside and this particular one is super decadent with tons of pork based goodness. The texture of the pork rinds contrasts wonderfully with the maduros and chorizo. The blend of flavors is simply over the top and I loved every bite. LASUPERPODEROSA(Shredded meat including chicken and pork rinds with red salsa and pineapple salsa) When they say shredded meat, they mean meat! This thing is so super packed with meaty goodness it’s insane. Every bite was a joy, with sweet and salty flavors mixing in. The chewy meat contrasted wonderfully with the crispy arepa. The Thousand Island style cream sauce on top was delicious as well. This was probably my favorite of the bunch. AREPADEMENUDENCIAS(Heart and Offal) This one sounds the least appetizing, but it is a seriously tasty and savory dish. The meats are wonderfully deep in flavor and they manage to cook them just right so they’re not rubbery or chewy. Instead, the meats were tender and juicy, not easy to do! TOSTONES Y AREPAFRITACONAHOGADO This is NOT a health food dish! It’s all fried stuff all the time! The Tostones(flattened and fried plantains) are thin, crispy and sweet/savory all at the same time. The Arepas here use the same dough as the ones mentioned above, but they’re in a smaller patty form and deep fried. The Ahogado is an amazing sauce with a tomato and onion base and oil that’s served *warm*! This may not be the healthiest fare in the world, but dangit it all if it isn’t absolutely delicious! With friendly service and a comfortable atmosphere too this is a must visit in Elizabeth!
