China King Buffet

After a long morning shopping for colored glass in the antique shops that line the historic downtown area of Elizabethton, Ma and I decided against lunch in one of the many cafes there and instead went for Chinese food at The China King Buffet.
I’m glad we did. It was a cold, gray and rainy day so their Hot and Sour Soup really hit the spot. In fact, it was the best thing I had there. I wish the bowls were bigger.
They had all of the standard things you’d expect to find at a Chinese buffet — Pepper Steak, Sesame Chicken, Fried Rice, Etc — and a selection of sushi rolls that I wasn’t brave enough to try (we’re a long way from the ocean and we were there at 2:30pm when the pickin’s were slim). They had a few non-​Chinese items, a salad bar and a desert bar with fresh fruit, cake, pudding, jello, etc …
The surroundings were pleasant and the service was attentive but not overbearing.
It’s one of the very few (and the very best) options for Chinese food in Elizabethton, so if you’re there and have a hankering for some food from across the big pond, THIS is your best option!
