Had an amazing Ruben sandwich. The corned beef is made there in house so we got a pound to go also. The staff was very friendly and they carried a local beer from back home in Michigan.

I may be a bit bias, but this is the friendliest group of people slinging sandwiches in Elizabethtown, I just love them! Then you top that off with amazing homemade sandwich meats, Boars Head cheeses, and to-die-for made-from-scratch cheesecakes, and you’ve just discovered the best little gem in Central Kentucky! As the name proclaims, I had the Reuben my first, my second, third and fourth time I went. It’s just that good! Best Reuben Sandwich this side of the Catskills! But since I have been enlightened on their house smoked brisket, and pulled pork. Oh my, the list goes on. Most of us regulars will just trust the staff and go with one of their creative From The Grill specials, I am yet to be disappointed! If you’re on the highway passing through, or a local that has somehow missed out on the buzz, you definitely need to see why everyone wonders how we haven’t been on a Guy Fieri show!

Love this place, my family and I get dinner from here at least once a week. All of the food is fresh, the establishment clean, and the employees very friendly. This is a nice break from the hustle and bustle of all the chain restaurants that are at every corner!

We were coming in off the highway on our way to Louisville and showed up a couple minutes before closing time. We didn’t know that though because the car’s time was still on Central. They had the lights off already and were cleaned up and packed away for the night. Again, we didn’t know that at the time. One of the guys came to the door and opened it for us and in we went and started ordering. We got cold subs for lunch the next day and hot stuff for our dinner right then. All three guys were working away on our huge order and it was only after I pulled out my phone to look up the brewer of the beer I was having that I realized what time it really was. Oh, man, we felt bad for hammering on them then. They were cleaned up and as good as out the door and we just dumped this mess on them, including firing up the grill. To their credit they never hinted at any hard feelings or give us any attitude at all, despite the fact we totally had it coming. We had no clue anything was amiss till I pulled out my phone. Now, you could make the argument — and rightfully so — that it wasn’t closing time yet technically and they shouldn’t have cleared down early knowing this could happen and serving the customer is their job and they should do it cheerfully at one minute till closing the same as one hour till closing. However, c’mon. How often do you run into a place like that? These days that is the rare exception, not the rule. Coming in at a minute or two till closing gets you attitude and«sorry, it’s put up for the day» and«no, we can’t cook anything, the grill is already shut down», assuming they even let you in the door in the first place, which most wouldn’t. These guys were gracious in never grumbling or giving any resistance to anything we wanted, and they were diligent and kept up the quality despite clearly wanting to get out of there. That earned the 5 stars and future business when the food might not have on its own. We got a few random cold subs which were all ok. The bread was a little heavy but tasted good and made a decent sub. The potato salad was bland; I’d pass on that, but maybe that’s my southern roots being rigid in what potato salad is supposed to be. It wasn’t bad, just boring. My son tore up the meatball sub and was really happy with it. It was some really good sauce that made it. My wife liked her cheesesteak ok but I didn’t hear any raves from her as she is wont to do when she gets hold of a good cheesesteak. I got the reuben. The flavors were a little tame — I’m used to a butterier bread, tangier dressing, biting kraut, pungent cheese. It was good, just a little muted for my taste. And the prices were a bit high. Well above Subway level, which would be fine if the quality was equally above, but it wasn’t. The fried bologna sandwich was OUTSTANDING! Oy, that might be the best I’ve ever had. I have no idea why that was so, but it was. Out. Standing. And at only $ 3 — if I ever come back this way I’ll eat my weight in that stuff and forgo everything else. That seemed to be an odd aberration on the menu, both in terms of price and quality. I don’t know what’s going on there but I’m not going to argue, just keep snarfing it up.

Had the cheesteak and it was pretty good. I didn’t like the texture of the cheese; I prefer a less melty-er(I know that isn’t a word) cheese. But the flavor of the meat was great and the bread went really well with it. I love the fresh cut french fries – definitely my favorite! The french fries are comparable to Penn Station’s but definitely better. I had a Jarritos to drink and went along with my merry day :)

It feels idiotic to complain about getting more food than you were expecting, but with sandwiches, proportion is key. A simple turkey sandwich came stacked with juicy, freshly shaved breast meat, iceberg, and tomato, but the thin slices of bread, slapped with house-made mayo and zesty deli mustard, couldn’t handle all of that and disintegrated between my fingers, making for a very messy — albeit delicious — sammie. All it needed was heartier bread to make it perfect.

Great prices, great food, and courteous staff. Not much more you could ask of a dining establishment.

We ate lunch there on Saturday. The food was delicious. The service was prompt and friendly. This is by far the best local non chain restaurant in Elizabethtown. You definitely get great, fresh quality food for a more than reasonable price. I highly recommend the BBQ burger. The pretzel bun caps off a delectable treat!

This is what a good sandwich shop is supposed to be like. Nothing corporate everything is made with passion, customer service is excellent.

Great classic hot and cold sandwiches as well as house-made sides! Boar’s Head meats really take these sandwiches to the next level! This is weekly stop for me for lunch. Ask the crew for recommendations and you’re bound to be delighted!

I’m somewhat picky about what good food is and I feel Reuben’s does a great job at providing quality food at a reasonable price. Most everything I order there is very fresh and tastes great. Ron(the owner) is happy to fix anything you feel is wrong — you just need to let him know. They smoke all their meats on site and use Boar’s Head products. To me, Reuben’s Stands out from all the other(chain) restaurants Etown has to offer. Sometimes they have choplotle chicken soup or some other tasty item not on the menu or on the daily dry erase board, so it can’t hurt to ask about other foods.(I just found this out recently) The staff is young folks in their early 20’s and friendly. Seating has recently gotten better with the addition of some tables and chairs to the existing taller, round tables with stools. The store has a 50’s theme to it which seems fitting of a time when stores didn’t serve frozen foods and preservative filled products, as this place doesn’t either. This is a small, not too old business. With time, I hope it grows and can accommodate people even better. Support your local neighborhood shops! This one certainly deserves it!

This place is hands down one of the best delis in the area, and likely one of the best restaurants Etown has to offer. A cruise down the Dixie Highway or Ring Road is sure to bum you out with awful, boring chain stores. Just go to Reuben’s and save the hassle and disappointment. Service is friendly and fast and I’ve always been satisfied with my sandwich. During lunch rush they can get pretty busy so a PROTIP is to call ahead and order it to go.

This is a great lunch spot. The food tastes excellent and they use boars head meats. The Reubens are phenomenal and there is an excellent variety of classic sandwiches and some of their own creations. Prices are not bad, more than fast food but less than most sit down restaurants. Takes a while so if you are on lunch break at work I would call ahead.

We have an office just down the road, so we eat there quite frequently. I like their food and is very tasty. Great alternative to fast food joints! For those of you who complain about them closing early, they close early because they can not complete against the big chain restaurant all over town. They use to be open later but found their best business time was afternoon and breakfast. How do I know? I asked them, great friendly staff. love the sweet potato fries!

Good, not great. We were travelling through E-town and sought this out based on Unilocal reviews. We had a Reuben, turkey club, 2 sodas and two bags of chips and it was $ 20. Not crazy but a bit high. My Reuben was good as was BF’s club(although it was a bit over toasted). They do use Boar’s Head which is good, but the signs say«grill closes at 4» even though they close at 6 which doesn’t feel like they’re service oriented. The décor is 50s diner which seems odd for a deli. Overall the food was pretty good, but not worth going out of the way for. This place doesn’t feel like it will be open long. I don’t mean to be harsh, just being honest.

Very tasty sandwiches! My husband had the Italian sub and I had the wildcat sub. We were both impressed. Elizabethtown doesn’t have many local spots to eat at and this place is a great addition. We also had onion rings that were out of this world! We will definitely be coming back again!

Visited this store for the first time today. Came in around 4:05 pm and all the chairs were up(as if they were about to close. closing time was three hours away). They put one set of stools down for us. Grill closes at 4pm but we only wanted cold food. they seemed surprised to actually have customers this time of day. The food was good and was brought out in a reasonable amount of time. As mentioned in an earlier post, you do have to remind them to give you the complete order(they should work on this… its a real easy fix). The place is clean and well organized but the dining room is large compared to the seating available(it makes the place seem empty). The staff(3 – 4 working) seemed to enjoy socializing with each other(in fairness there were no customer there but us). The pricing is actually a little high for the area but I’m no expert on pricing these products. Cake on display was old and overpriced. They can easily fix that if they know about it. It’s minor. Overall it was a good experience and I will return. I’m in this area a lot.

Place JUSTOPENED, located in an old(terrible — Delano’s? — blech) pizza joint on 1600 that’s been closed longer than it was open. Was gonna give a chance to sort out before heading over & certainly visit a few times before a review… just seems fair. But since, somehow, they already have 55-star reviews from people with a grand(combined) total of 2 prior reviews posted,(2 first time reviewers) in a town where the bulk of reviews are written by that random Miguel who finds it necessary to review fast food, gas stations, & anything else w a fixed address… giving nearly everything 4&5 stars… I felt the need to add a little reality to the Unilocaliverse, because previous reviewers are completely out of their damn minds. (Did I mention that reviews feature(only) «delicious,» «excellent,» «great,» and«fabulous.» Well, hell’s bells, what more could anyone want? Well, maybe an actual description of what is served? Yeah.) Good: They’re trying, service-wise. Staff is polite. But they have a lot to learn. Like making sure everything ordered is actually served. Customers shouldn’t have to repeatedly go back to the counter for items missing from orders. They’re trying, product-wise. Touches like a bed of lettuce & tomato slice in each cold side order are nice & appreciated. Not as much as seasoning would be welcomed, but, still… Baked goods were fresh. Of course, they’ve only been open a matter of days, at most, so, no promises that’s reliable, long-term. M’nah, m’nah: Bread selection blows(pre-sliced loaf white, wheat, & rye, and Kaiser rolls, BTdubs). I mean, it’s not Wonderbread-bad, but it’s not what anyone who has eaten at a deli not housed in a gas station convenience store thinks of. Sub /hoagie rolls, at minimum. Baguettes. At least something with a little tooth, a little crust. Effing pathetic. Prices are a tad high for sandwich loaf bread-sized sandwiches with little to no toppings(lettuce /tomato, only), particularly for this area, though there was certainly a fair(not generous-Frank’s level, for less than half the price) amount of deli meat. They need some actual recipes. There was literally no seasoning(salt, pepper, tartness, sweetness, or flavor/spice at all) on side dishes. Pasta salad tasted like a gooey(was it Crisco?), slightly crunchy(celery), flavorless pasta. The potato salad tasted like a gooey(maybe a little mustardy, mostly flavorless), slightly crunchy(celery), plain boiled potato. The coleslaw tasted like preshredded cabbage mix with Boar’s Head coleslaw dressing(the best of the lot). Sandwich menu is closer to premade grocery sandwiches than that of an actual deli sammie shop. Everything needs seasoning. Anything. Even salt & pepper would help. A «Rachel» should be grilled /hot. Also puzzled as to why there isn’t a pastrami«Reuben/Rachel» option. Service took awhile — even for cold sandwiches. Hot sandwiches took longer. I’m used to great delis with 50 times as many to-order menu items(hot & cold), staffed by one guy, served in a fifth the time. They had more than 4 staff working(@ what, no idea). Dining area appears in progress(I hope). Be aware: they have 3 small high café tables, w 4(backless) bar stools. These people don’t know«deli» from red-ring baloney on wonder w whip from a gas station. ADA-compliant? Good effing luck. Large groups = non-starter, at least at present. Good for kids? WTF? They don’t have a kids’ menu. According to a «fan,» their mayo is house-made. Cuz that’s ok to serve kids without notice. Anyone who calls something a «sub,» then serves it on pre-sliced loaf bread deserves a rabbit punch to the throat. For the love of G*D, they supposedly serve cheese steak… ONWHAT??? SLICEDLOAFBREAD? Kaiser roll? Absurd. Dipshits giving this place five stars are in collusion or have never actually eaten at a real deli(see: gas station food). I will eat my socks if anyone who works here has exposure(even as a regular customer) to an actual deli(no, Subway in Walmart does not count). «Classic Deli» my achey thumbs down. Anyone giving customers expectation of an authentic deli via their reviews should be ashamed of themselves. They smoke their own Boar’s Head deli meat, eh? R-iiiiiiiight.

This place is FANTASTIC! I had the cheese steak AND pulled pork sammie. Both fresh & delicious. Service was fast and courteous. By far the best place to eat in E-Town. This place is an breath of fresh air compared to all the crappy chain restaurants in E-Town. Meatball sub great, Hot Beef is also excellent. Highly recommend this joint.
