Crazy Sushi

This was the first Sushi restaurant that I had tried. I used to think it was really good until I came across other Sushi restaurants.
The wait time here has always been a little over 15 minutes for dining in.
The only roll that I would recommend from here that I really, really like is the Spider Roll. It is so delicious! All the other rolls that I tried here were ok.

3 for effort. would I go back? nope. Rice not cooked well and I’m almost certain they reuse the fried shrimp, it has that refried texture, salmon not to trust. But I’m not going to keep judging, you get what you pay for and they are cheap.

Overdue for a review, this place is just ok. Their sushi rolls are so itty bitty and not filling at all or even all that fresh. Service is a hit and miss. On those busier days, you might end up waiting 30mins for your food. The last time the waitress to me seems a bit slow taking our order. I had to repeat a few time.

Sure, their rolls are 50% off and they have good music. But it is not worth it. I have tried Crazy Sushi numerous of times hoping they will get better but they just do not. I have probably tried everything on their half off menu and I always leave disappointed.
Their customer service sucks. I cannot bear with slow customer service especially when the place is not busy. I cannot believe they are still open for business. I never get greeted upon walking in, as soon as I sit, I get asked if I need a few minutes and when I do, I have to wait for so long that I actually have to wave my hands. The food takes about 10 minutes to get to my table, not bad, props to the chefs but it surely does not take me a whole hour to finish one roll.
The rolls: bland, hit or miss. Most of the times it is a miss but the hits are there occasionally. They are really inconsistent with quality of their rolls. One day it tastes fresh another it does not. One day the rolls are presented nicely, another it is horrible presentation. One day the rice is cooked the next it is not. RICE. I won’t be back after this recent visit. I would rather take the trip to a place with quality rolls even if it means paying more.

One star is honestly too much, but since Unilocal doesn’t have anything below 1 this will do.
Food was okay. Way overpriced for their small portions even with the 50% off.
Service — TERRIBLE !!! Our waitress, Alex had an extremely bad attitude. We weren’t even greeted for about 15 minutes. After a while she finally decided to come back and take our food order. 45 minutes after we ordered and still haven’t received any food we asked her and she seemed a little clueless. 15 minutes after that we finally got our food, so now we’ve waited 1hr on 4 sushi rolls, we asked to speak to a manager. The manager said they had a delay because the lights went out, impossible because we were there the entire time and the lights didn’t go out. She then said a 10% discount is all she can do. Didn’t say sorry or seemed to care at all.
We were frequent customers, my mom orders to-​go from there at least once a week. Definitely NOT returning !!!

I just recently started eating sushi a few months ago and fell in love with the original sushi place I was told to go to, Arigato Sushi (which also has 50% off rolls) But since I live in Elk Grove and traveling to Howe and Arden got a little tedious I decided to give Crazy Sushi a try. So, first time I went I was quite impressed with the friendliness of the staff, the upbeat vibe and the close location. I only eat the rolls, volcanic scallop at Arigato, and Bay Island at Crazy Sushi. I don’t believe in comparing one restaurant style to another because every place has their thing which makes them unique… I get it. Problem is, their rolls don’t taste awful, they’re just not good, mostly because they’re undercooked.
The first time I visited the rice was undercooked, hard and stuck in your teeth. The roll completely came undone when picked up with the chopsticks, in honour of full disclosure, I am a sushi/​roll novice, but I am a foodie. So I figured okay, bad night, restaurants have those, I won’t Unilocal them until the second visit. It was Friday evening, busy, loud. Well this is my second visit and I prayed it would be better… it’s not. Once again everyone was super nice, I went in earlier before the rush, because I really want to like the place, unfortunately it’s just not great food, hard rice, undercooked rolls. By all means, if you’re young, and drinking and don’t really care about food quality this is definitely the place for you, but if you have a more mature pallette, take your money and run… elsewhere.

Sushi was ok, chicken katsu was hard like left over batter tatsed terrible, my salad was yellow and white, the management was horrible they don’t care of the patrons, never going back and sad thing I’m Japanese I would not recommend this establishment to any one

The sushi is decent and the service sucks. They really need to consider how important customer service is because there are too many sushi restaurants here in Sacramento not to have tact and politeness a priority. Always rushing people off the phone and just rude!

Pretty basic sushi and your usual mediocre sushi prices. The only thing that irked me and irked me pretty badly to give this review was the service. I am a HUGE Sacramento Kings fan and was hoping to catch the game while we were here for a birthday party. You are an establishment in Sacramento (okay… Elk Grove but same thing), you should be able to turn the channel on at least one of the multiple TVs in the restaurant to a game of the only professional sports teams in Sacramento. But no, they kept it on the Warriors vs Spurs game. I guess the waitress couldn’t find the remote? Ok, I guess… but by the time they finally found the remote, there was like 10 seconds left of the game. We got there at half time. Just this experience with the restaurant will make me never go back. Also, the tables were sticky when we got there. Gross…

Decent food, great service, and cheap prices. All rolls are 50% off. Thursdays are .99 cents sakes. So rolls aren’t that fabulous but you get what you paid for. The crazy bomb is really good if u like spicy.

They promote that all their rolls are half off so it’s a cheaper place to go then say mikunis. There rolls, for the most part are good. Some tend to be a little dry so I just use extra sauce. Their prices are cheaper, anywhere from $ 5 – 9 a roll. Their BBQ tuna is ok, the tuna is kinda dry as well. I usually get my order to go and it takes about 15 minutes to get it. Not bad!
This sushi place is a great place to go if your cash poor and in a hurry!

We have just finished eating here and couldn’t be anymore disappointed. After ordering food at 7 o’clock our food was served after 8:10PM. One of the rolls we order came out with cream cheese. Looking back at the menu it lists ‘CC’ next to an ending bracket. We were informed that it stand for Cream Cheese. After looking over the menu no other rolls list ‘CC’ but state CREAM CHEESE is in the roll. But the roll we order was the only abbreviated one with CC instead of Cream cheese. Talking to the waitress she said she could not send it back because it was already on the table. In return I said if you take this roll off the bill I will order another roll that cost double the roll we don’t want. She said she would have to talk to the manager.
The manager came to the table and said «you wanted to talk to me?» I explained the issue and his response was like well CC is cream cheese and I’m not going to take it off the bill. He never apologized at all. He said «it’s not my fault that it says CC and not cream cheese, I didn’t write the menu.» After saying we would not pay for a roll we didn’t eat he stated «you did eat it, there’s 2 pieces gone.» He then proceeded to tel us he would take care of us just this once.
The waitress returns with the bill stating she took off the above amount but would still be charging us $ 1.75 for the two pieces we are. I asked to talk to the manager again. He refused to speak to me, smiled and laughed with his other chefs and STILL never apologized for the mistake.
He treated our table of 10 people like we were idiots that were trying to take money out of his pockets. All of his waitresses apologized for the mix up and for him not taking it off the bill while he just laughed behind the counter. When I told him thanks for not apologizing and «taking care of us» he smiled and told us to leave.
We will not be eating here ever again. Your restaurant has 2.5 stars for a reason because you are a piece of shit owner would couldn’t apologize and charged us for 2 pieces of food like that one roll was going to put you out of business. And it just goes to show how much your place of business sucks when the two other tables behind us all had issues that’s your waitresses were apologizing too all night. DO NOT EAT HERE! This place should have zero stars.

50% off rolls!
We came here with a group of 6 people, all of us ordered at least 2 rolls each and some of us had beers and saki bombs and our bill was only $ 150. Not bad!
Our service was excellent and we were not an easy table. Our drinks all came fast and so did our rolls. Every roll I tried tasted delicious too!
This is defiantly my go to sushi restaurant in Elk Grove!

Still five stars for freshness and service. Tonight I had sashimi, nigiri and baked muscles. Awesome ! My server Jojo was spot on with service.

This used to be the go-​to sushi place in EG. I started coming here 5 years ago when it was pretty new. Since then, it has changed for the worse. Let’s review!
QUALITY: ¹⁄₅
Bleck! I can no longer handle the rolls here. They used to be delicious, but the quality has dropped drastically over the years. Small cuts of what tastes like it has been in a freezer for the past 6 months is not my idea of good sushi. Haven’t tried anything else in a few years as I have no reason to return.
AMBIANCE: ²⁄₅
Fair amount of tables as well as the sushi bar. A few TVs, one of which is a projector hanging over your head. The menus are 1 long piece of laminated paper. The same style that they had 5 years ago. Nothing to rave about. Not really a relaxing restaurant experience.
PRICE: ³⁄₅
Prices have gone up pretty far as well. Still not too bad, but there are cheaper, better places around.
SERVICE: ⁴⁄₅
At least the service is good. Never takes too long to be seated or served. If it is busy then the rolls may take awhile. Check never takes too long. Servers don’t seem to be very happy though.
Overall, if you have lived in a small midwestern town for your entire life and have never had sushi, then come here. If you crave something of higher quality and cheaper price, then go to Sushimono a few miles down Bruceville on EG.

Decent sushi for cheap!
Admit it, most people come here because the signature sushi menu is half off. I have an added bonus in that this place is super close to my house. This is not my first choice, but it ends up being my go-​to place out of convenience.
That said, it satisfies my sushi craving without breaking the bank. Half the time, I tell them to go easy on the sauce or eliminate it altogether. Their signature rolls get doused in sauce and they fall apart easily when you pick it up with chopsticks. Plus, I don’t really like my rolls drowning in sauce.
This place is also good to go with a group because you can order lots of sushi rolls to share, plus they have cheap sake. Yay!

Meh… it’s okay. And just okay.
Super cheap sushi, and boy can you taste it! But with their crazy ass deal on sake on Thursdays for 99 ¢ on top of that oh-​so-​common 50% off rolls thing, and boom! Crazy Sushi is a Thursday night hangout for everyone.
Sushi is just okay. Plenty of rolls to choose from, most have deep fried shrimp and covered in a spicy mayo sauce (natch!).For the price, sure I’ll pay it. I haven’t gotten sick yet, so until that happen, I’m game for this place.
Surely not my first choice in the area, but hey, a quick meal and cheap sake is what you’re after, by all means.

I come back here once in a while despite of my disappointment because of the nostalgic feeling I get when I’m here. This was THE spot during my high school days and boy was it delicious back then.
This is one of the first few 50% off sushi joints in the Elk Grove area but has greatly fallen off for a while in sushi portion, quality, and price. Their rolls just seems to get smaller/​thinner every time we come by.
The miso soup has a strong chlorine taste (probably used sink water). Their drinking water also has a chlorine taste to it as well.
The food… The portion has decreased greatly over a time of two years, I haven’t had a chance to be reminded of this until we dined it for the last time recently. All the specialty rolls (size, shape, and sauce) all tasted similar with no major differences. It just… Doesn’t hit the spot anymore.
Service, however, was okay. Our server was fairly attentive and friendly.
I just don’t think I will come back again unless they improve their quality, portions, and price.
