Ordered multiple dishes including the boiled fish, green beans, fire chicken and the cold noodles. All outstanding. Spicy, but not too hot to obliterate the taste the rest of the food. Very affordable and generous quantity

Crouching Chongqing Chicken, Hidden Sichuan. Having been born, and raised in Hong Kong, I appreciate good food. Being stuck in bullshit Sacramento, I really appreciate this restaurant. THEBEST in Sacramento area. If you have ever thought you had good Sichuan food in California, but have not eaten here, you are wrong. You are wrong, and a liar. You should either come here, or face a firing squad. All the best, Dang B

I found this place through Unilocal and they didn’t disappoint: great flavors and clean. Considering that I always questions the ingredients in my meal, when I’m at Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area, this is the first place that I ate without doubts. They’re clean and ask the ingredients tasted fresh. Nothing was leftovers, old, or rotten. Yes, there are places that will cook rotten vegetables and try to pass it off to the consumer. Thankfully, this isn’t one of those places. We came during the lunch special, so you get a basic side salad and soup to accompanied your entrée. I had the beef with veggies and fried rice. It was perfect. The meat was at l beaten to a mouthwatering softness and the veggies were still crisp. As for the dan-dan noodles… I’m not sure. All the other dan-dans I’ve had in the past were served dried, this dan-dan came as a soup version. If you like spicy noodle soup, then this is your kind of soup. Not to mention how huge it is! Definitely get your money’s worth.

Here is our experience so far… 5 Star for the food 5 for the service 5 for the ambience 5 for the food quantity :). Double the quantity, compared to what we get in San Francisco Bay area. Though some of the dishes are on the sweeter side and less spicier compared to Sichuan dishes in the bay, this place dsereves a 5 star. 1. Boiled beef and steamed Rice was superb(5⁄5) 2. Generals Tsao’s Prawns was fresh and crispy with a perfect GT’s sauce(5⁄5) 3. Combination fried rice was good. Could have been better with some minced red onions.(4⁄5) 4. Eggplant was a little too sweet for us(3⁄5) 5. Sichuan beef was tasty(5⁄5) 6. Magic chilli chicken was a bit salty, but paired well with a beer, at home :)(5⁄5)

Food was excellent. All my friends and family like this place. They have plenty of options, but the veggie food is really good. Possibly the best Chinese restaurant in Elk Grove. However, the service is okay. We had to ask to get refills. Also, it is kind of expensive. When we went out it was about 20 bucks per person, but you can get it down to about 12 – 15 if you don’t get soda and get rice instead of cho mein.

This was my first time here and it was pretty good. I had the Singapore Noodles. I would give this another star, but the shrimp was just okay. My co-worker had the General Chicken and it was very tasty. Today, I returned and had the black bean chicken. It was very good. They had zucchini, carrots, and onions with the chicken. I had the fried rice with it and that was just okay. I would go with the chow mein next time.

One word, worth. Me and my brothers were craving some thing really spicy and savory, so I was searching up places that had a bunch of spicy asian dishes and sichuan popped up. And the great part was that it closes at 9:30, usually a lot of restaurants closes at 9 and the extra 30 minutes made a huge time difference. It was about a 15 minute drive to get here, once we arrives the host/waitress nicely welcomed us in and had us seated. The menu… oh man, it was pretty huge, there was varieties from rice plates, soups, noodles, appetizers, and so much more. So since it was out first time here and weren’t sure of what to really order the waitress recommended a few dishes and we ordered what she recommended us! We ordered about 6 dishes(mapo tofu, spicy clams, pot stickers, hot pot, Tom yum soup, and some fried tofu dish with string green beans). The food came at a steady pace but all dishes were set on the table in about 20 minutes. The food. was very flavorful and savory! The wait wasn’t long, the customer service was beyond fantastic and the food was to die for(metaphorically speaking), I honestly cannot wait to come back !

Oh my goodness, this place is still the best. Has the combination chow mein, handmade pork Dumplings, and orange chicken, in a word: Delicious!

Rating — 3.5, not 4!!! When it comes to Chinese food, I’m really picky. This place definitely settles the craving for Sichuan food, but not as good as anything back home. My friend and I got vermicelli w/minced pork, and the spicy boiled pork! The sauce for the vermicelli was delicious, would definitely recommend that. The pork on the other hand was still flavorful, but not as spicy as I would’ve liked it! It was barely numbing, and usually that dish is supposed to numb your mouth after one or two bites! The service is excellent, was constantly attended to even though my friend and I were there at 3PM. Would recommend this place if you want some decent Chinese food, and would go again if I were in the area, but I don’t think it’s anything too special to drive all the way out for.

There is only 2 Sichuan restaurants where I live, hidden Sichuan being one of them. I ordered the dry chicken lunch special, tea smoked duck, and spicy Dan Dan noodles to go. The dry chicken reminded me of popcorn chicken from those boba tea places, with onions, peppers, ginger, and chili peppers added to it. The lunch special came with hot and sour soup, which I liked. The Dan Dan noodles was savory and rich in flavor, but I was unable to eat due to its high salt content(reminded me of Japanese ramen). The tea smoked duck had a very unique flavor. The smoked tea had an earthy and pungent taste. It was different and I was glad I tried it. Overall, the food was rich and flavorful, but a little too salty, so alcohol must be paired. I recommend the tea smoked duck if you’ve never had it before and willing to try something different since it has a very unique taste.

When it comes to chinese food, I consider myself an expert! I am easy to please however I will scrutinize a restaurant if needed. This was my first time at Hidden Sichuan, which is a small restaurant situated in the same parking lot as IHOP, In-N-Out, and Staples on the east side of Highway 99 at Bond Road. A Japanese restaurant was the prior tenant at this location. My wife had dined here before and liked it very much. So, I decided to see if she was right. They have a vast menu with all of the usual Mandarin and Cantonese dishes served in most chinese restaurants. Being a Szechuan restaurant, the food typically is spicier than Cantonese restaurants, which are my favorite. We ordered the Asparagus Beef, which is a Cantonese dish, with black bean sauce. It was really tasty and flavorful. The serving was a good size and a winner! We also chose a Vermicelli noodle dish with minced pork in a gravy sauce. This Szechuan dish was spicy but not too much because we told the server«not too spicy, but mild, please». It was delicious and also a winner! Even though we didn’t finish either dish, we thought next time we would order another dish to compliment what we did order. We always enjoy leftovers the next day. One nice touch, is your choice of either white rice or brown rice. Not too many chinese restaurants offer that choice. They only had one server which was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. One of the reasons why we enjoyed our dinner. We definitely will return to try some of the many other dishes that sounded wonderful. My wife was right… «It was good!»

This place is awesome ! Very tasty, fairly priced and with an amazing atmosphere. The service is very nice and helpful. I got the dry cooked chicken and it was very very good and spicy. They have the best sweet and sour soup I’ve had here in Elk grove. We also had the curry rice, that one was a little too salty and had lots of curry powder, but it was edible.

Warning: Pretty salty dishes! So I’ve been here twice… I love it but I must say. The dishes in which we’ve ordered were really too salty to be entirely consumed. We ordered the Magic Chili Chicken, string green beans and white rice. The food was spicy but for the Asian tongue, it was just average spicy. On another note, the service was great, the lady enough advises that you could request for less salty for all dishes when ordering-great to know! I would come back here… the service, location and variety were all good… I will just be ordering less salty next time. :)

Service is splendid(as usual), but Food is decent… tasted a little too salty. The rice portions were generous and interior is very nicely decorated, and clean. The music playing sounded like(upbeat) Chinese pop which although is great for high energy places/venues, it may not be suitable for dining. Parking was plentiful and convenient. Bathroom is dimly lit and clean. Overall, I wouldn’t mind coming back but I’m not crazy about the food.

I got yellow curry fried rice for take out recently and specifically asked for no spice. We went back and forth a bit because I wanted to make sure absolutely no spice since I have the wussy tastebuds of a newborn. When I got home, I found it was extra spicy. I called them and spoke with the girl who took my order. She apologized and said they made a mistake and asked if I wanted to come back to get a new one. Since I wasn’t feeling good, I opted to come back another time. She said she would give me a replacement order. I have not had a chance to go back yet but I wanted to update my review because of the professional way they handled my situation. No arguing or deflecting blame, just a sincere apology and a proactive solution. I love this place!

Good take out Chinese food from Hidden Sichuan for tonight dinner, kinda hard to get a good Chinese take out. What were we had tonight are: Free chicken pot stickers(4), love the sauce for dipping and the pot stickers are good. Combination fried rice had chicken, BBQ pork and shrimps with scramble egg with pees and dice carrots. Combination chow mein had the same meat like combination fried rice minus the scramble egg with bean sprouts and cabbage. Mushu pork had a lot of vegetables with scramble egg. Sweet and sour fish had a lot of breading on the fish with onions, carrot, green bell pepper and pineapple. Will try eat there next time.

Good food but horrible service. –Cold dish appetizer: Spicy Beef Combo came with thin slices of beef tripe, beef tongue, and roasted beef marinated in a spicy sauce with chili oil and chili peppers. also cilantro and Chinese celery to compliment. It was a VERY yummy dish but it was SUCH a SMALL portion for $ 7.50(we each got about 3 small pieces only) –Seafood Deluxe Soup: very much like an egg flower soup but with shrimp, scallops, squid, and tofu. It was good. typical egg flower but with seafood. –Sizzling Hot Iron Plate with black pepper seafood: This was really good. they use A LOT of black pepper so just be careful. the sauce is super savory and its yummy with the white rice. The seafood items include shrimp, scallops, and squid. –Fish Fillets: stir fried with mixed veggies like mushrooms, zucchinis, broccoli, and onions. This was really good. sweet garlic sauce with tender fish fillets. –and LASTLY, spicy beef boil! This was super good. it comes out in a boiling HOT bamboo looking thing(metal on the inside to keep it warm). sauce is like a soupy spicy vegetable broth. comes with picked cabbage and onions and yummy with white rice! We wanted to take something TO-GO for lunch the next day and the waiter suggested the cold noodle dish which is a house special. I chose the meat selection of chicken. I wasn’t too sure about COLD noodles though. but when I tried it the next day, it was SUPERYUMMY. The cold noodles come with a spicy sauce which you pour over the noodles and it comes with slices of cucumbers. Its spicy, sweet and refreshing at the same time.

This is one of the best friend’s and my favorite restaurants in E.G., and I was honestly shocked to find that I’d never actually posted a review for it before! I’d already started a 5 star review for them way back when we first came here, and I can truly testify that they hold up to that rating still. My best friend gets the same thing almost every time while I’m attempting to eat my way through the menu(with the exception of 90% of the seafood only because that’s not my thing). On both ends of the spectrum we’ve never been disappointed. Ever. Both of us love the sesame beef. Zachary adores their curry chicken. I’m a huge fan of the broccoli beef, mushroom chicken, any type of fried rice, chow mein, or chow fun, and tonight’s latest discovery — the sizzling rice platter. I also highly recommend the magic chili beef, which is just as good as leftovers in a breakfast burrito as it is the first time around. I remember once being told by the mentor of the owner of the restaurant I worked in that there’s a triangle of qualities that you look for in a restaurant, and a good restaurant will have two of the three but finding all three is nearly impossible. They are food quality, perceived value, and service. I’m here to tell you that Hidden Sichuan has all three of those things. Literally the best service I’ve ever had at a Chinese restaurant and some of the best food I’ve ever had, while the prices never break the bank. The moral of the story is EATHERE!!!

There aren’t many Chinese restaurants that I want to try, but I definitely wanted to try Hidden Sichuan. I’ve never had Sichuan food before(Kung Pao chicken at Panda Express doesn’t count). I’m a big fan of spicy, even though my stomach isn’t. My friend and I shared two of their more popular dishes– Magic Chili Chicken(with peanuts and sliced chicken) and Szechwan Hot & Spicy Dan-Dan Noodle(mixed with minced pork and green onions in spicy peanut sauce). My mouth was burning, but it was a tolerable burn. After each bite, you notice the spiciness less and less. The chicken is deep fried with chilies. I particularly liked the small crispy pieces. The sauce in the noodles was soupy, and I debated drinking it or not. Next time I’d like to try the other traditional dishes such as tea smoked duck and mapo tofu.

First timer? Yes. We were greeted promptly upon entering and probably the first customers as well. Our waiter gave us a few recommendations, and I ordered for our table(family style). We had the spicy Dan Dan noodles, magic chicken, fish fillet clay pot, and Mongolian beef. Everything had flavor, but my faves were the spicy Dan Dan noodles and spicy fish clay pot. Customer service was good. Water refills without asking so I appreciate that.
