Sutter Urgent Care

Ehh. The wait varies. When I brought my newborn daughter in I waited 2.5 hours (it was for weight check and not actual sickness so I understood). But they were considerate enough to give me a separate waiting are since I had a newborn. However, the nurse that came to take my daughters vitals was NOT properly trained in how to operate the equipment she was using. It took her 6 tries with the forehead swipe to get temperature. The pulse has a small sticker to apply to my baby’s foot I which it took about 10 minutes to finally get it on right to read a pulse. Then weight check. Well naked babies obviously was making her nervous because she couldn’t wait to get her off the scale, but I saw the scale and it read 7lbs 9 oz. the nurse said I could dress my baby again that the doctor did not need her naked… Well the doctor came in and DID in fact need her naked… Again. Then the doctor tells me that my daughters weight was 7 lbs 1 oz. which would indicate she lost too much weight. When I told her that the scale did in fact weigh her at 7 lbs 9 oz and I saw it my self, this doctor responded with «well I guess i can check her weight again *sigh*». Very irritating. She said that I need to see her pediatrician about weight loss asap. I went to her pediatrician the next day and her weight was 7 lbs 10 oz. hmmm. Bottom line is be careful with some of the nurses. They may not be experienced.

The positive is that they are fairly quick in getting you in. The negative is that they allegedly accept our insurance (UHC), our assigned doctors are all Sutter docs in that same office bldg. and yet we end up getting billed the full amount $ 205 each time (twice in the past few months). Nothing is applied to our deductible. Our insurance company has informed us that they have the doctors listed as «urgent care docs» vs «family practice» docs which is causing the problem. My insurance and I have both called to try to have them fix the problem but they don’t. Additionally, one of the doctors we saw told my 16 yr old that the lump in her arm pit might be cancer, when it was just an inflamed lymph node. Not impressed!

4 hour wait with only 3 people ahead of me. 1 hour wait get vitals 1 hour to go back in to see PA 1 hour to get X-​ray 1 hour for the actual treatment. WOW

There is nothing urgent about the care from this clinic. What a mess. I arrived at 3:10pm on a Sunday afternoon and was told the wait was an hour to an hour and twenty minutes. I was called after an hour and thought ok that’s great. Right on time. Unfortunately it was only to get my vitals checked and then back out to the waiting room for some more waiting. What a tease!
After another 40+ minutes in the waiting room, I was called in again and thought finally! Unfortunately it was not so. I was brought back to an exam room and told a Doctor would be with me shortly and then it appears they forgot about me. At 5:20 pm after 30+ minutes in an exam room and over 2 hours there, I walked out. Never saw a Doctor. Got tired of waiting for these clowns. I told the guy up front I better not get billed for this and left. What a disgrace of an urgent care office this is.
Maybe the guy up front when you check in can stop complaining about how he’s working a 13 hour shift and start checking on patients to make sure they’re getting seen.

This physician and practice were just incredible. I am a physician myself and my daughter (from England) was visiting us. We were walk-​in patients.
She had a symptom that usually isn’t concerning, but can be serious. It required a thorough physical exam and lab review. Dr. Katie Christina Askew did an unhurried, and obviously careful exam. My daughter (thank G-​d) was fine. I know what a good exam is and what careful and kind care is. And she got it.
There is no question that we waited quite a bit. But we waited because she was careful and took time with each and every patient, including us.
And the receptionist was fabulous (Kristen?). I can’t imagine that someone could criticize this practice.
I am a practicing physician myself. I cannot recommend this practice more highly.

The woman at the front was very friendly& efficient. I believe her name was Kristen. Super sweet. My grandmother & I got seen in a matter of 10 minutes. This is why I love being a patient of sutter.

All the (5) stars must’ve been aligned for us; my boyfriend broke his hand and we came here for X-​rays and an exam. They took extraordinary care of us, even dealing with several insurance hiccups that were not their fault. I was an emotional mess and the front office staff as well as doctors took great care of me. Oh and my BF ;-). We got here at 8:50 on a Friday. Through xray and dr exam before 10am. Thank you Sutter.

As a Sutter employee, I am extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service at this location. Ceo Pat Fry should make time to definitely visit and speak to the staff. Sutter stands for giving quality care to patients and they don’t do that here. I couldn’t even imagine how the public/​patients who aren’t staff feel about this place. The only positive experience I had here was Dr. Askew. I love working for Sutter and I’m writing this post to fix this problem for our patients.

I’m giving these guys 1 star, been waiting for almost 45 minutes and some lady shows up with a wart problem and gets right in. What ever happens to first come and first serve. I give the Lvn’s and physicians assistants 5 stars

Four stars for the NP, Lisa and Ryan. If I were rating the lady up front, well, I’m giving her –5 stars.
Apparently we were one of two people to make an appointment with the new «pilot program» appointment system here at Sutter Urgent Care in Elk Grove. I thought I’d be saving time and making our visit easier… instead, it was a huge headache.
First, you make the appointment online and you fill out important info like insurance, etc. Did all that, showed up early to fill out more paperwork, none of which went through online besides an appointment reservation, which ultimately meant nothing when we showed up.
The care we received once we actually got in was great. But you’d think I’d hacked the system from the racket the receptionist was causing. Apparently it blew her mind that I had made an appointment using my e-​mail address, not my husband’s. It was an appointment for him. She carried on and on and on and loudly, and Ryan kindly ran his vitals and rolled his eyes at her non-​stop banter. We were sent back to the waiting room for another hour while she carried on and on and on about our «zip code not registering in the system». In almost two years of living in West Sacramento we’ve never had a problem. She was loud, she was obnoxious, and she probably violated a bunch of HIPA laws as she barked on about how she couldn’t pull up my husband’s chart.
We waited an extra hour and I had to hear her banter the entire time about tech issues. I even told her that he was an existing Sutter patient, which she already knew and admitted but kept carrying on about new patient info. We finally saw the NP and I could still hear here carrying on in the reception area about how I made an appointment for him with my e-​mail address instead of his.
Dear Sutter,
If I were bringing a two year old and making an appointment, they wouldn’t have their own e-​mail address. If I were bringing my Grandmother, she wouldn’t have her own e-​mail address. If I were bringing my very sick friend, I wouldn’t give you their e-​mail address. Sorry your tech support isn’t up to par, but that’s not my fault. To your receptionist who carried on and on during a very stressful time, thanks. Thanks for making me feel badly about doing what’s right for my family and also trying to make life easier by making an appointment. Announcing things like address, birthday, personal details at the top of your lungs while we can still hear you as we’re seeing the NP, not cool at all.
We barely visit you, and we barely like you. Good thing your Doctors and NPs are decent, too bad your front staff is literally the worst.

This review is for the lab at Sutter Healrh in the same building as Urgent Care. I had to write this review because the person at the counter was extremely rude for this incident and as well as other incidents I have observed. He was too important to remove the customer’s sign in sheet from the clipboard and ask the patient to do it herself and drop it in the basket. The basket is on his desk it is his freakin job to follow through. They forget the patient is their customers and they can take their business elsewhere. I m sure he is a nice person but do your dam job or why even have the sign in sheets on the clipboard.

You are better off going to a Native American Indian Shaman.
Over 3 hours. I WALKED to and from the counter to submit my information. I WALKED back to get my vitals taken then WALKED back to my seat. I WALKED back to see a DR who had me WALK to the x-​ray lab. They had me WALK back to the counter to remind them I am still there and waiting so they had me WALK back to the DR exam room. After 30 minutes and attempting to WALK out the Dr runs in and confirms I have a fairly serious KNEE INJURY and shouldn’t WALK on it until I see my regular DR the next day. WOW THANKS for the heads up. I was not once offered a wheelchair or any assistance until I demanded crutches from the DR after WALKING all over their facility.
The nurses act like YOU as a patient are a total nuisance. They barely look up at you while taking your information. One male nurse steps into the waiting area to high five and BS with some friends that showed up while patients sat out there waiting for hours. This facility and its staff are a disgrace to Sutter Health. You are better off driving to the ER at Sutter Davis than go to this location. How it remains part of Sutter is a mystery.

Ridiculous!!! I don’t even know why this is called an urgent care. I could not get a same day sick appointment and the advice nurse asked me to get to urgent care immediately. I was made to wait for 3 hours before a nurse took the vitals and then again they said that there are five people ahead of me. I got more sick waiting at urgent care. I just had to walk out of the place without any treatment and after paying my co-​pay. The staff are pathetic. There is no real urgency or any care for the patients.
Sutter: Please shutdown the urgent care. Such a waste of time!

Horrible! Every time I come here, I regret it. I have a 20 month old and he has undergone the oddest medical conditions. Today, he had a fever of 101.7 and a full body rash. the doctor told me to come in to urgent care. I did and a hour and a half of waiting I simply asked «how much longer? «3 people ahead of you», said the assistant. I see about 10 people get called so I go up again. «It’ll be about a 45 minute wait» REALLY?! they want me to wait 2 and a half hours just for a quick 5 minute glance that would allow me to return home! (My mother in law works at General hospital. She showed my son to a doctor, it took her 5 minutes to determine it was just a symptom of the fever). This is not the first time my son has been put last purposely. We saw others who looked a lot better than he did go in. He was puking and contagious (that’s been confirmed) and yet they didn’t care. I just can’t stand such rudeness! For all they know, he could have had measles. Save yourself the trip, go to the ER if your kid needs immediate attention. Or schedule an appointment. Don’t waste your time on this horrid place.
