I love The Flour Mill. The pizza is just amazing there. The service is pretty good. It was packed in there when I went and I assume it is like that a lot considering how good the food is. The Flour Mill is definitely in my top 5 places to eat in the area. I give it 5 stars mostly because of the atmosphere and the pizza. I most definitely recommend it to pizza lovers.

The Flour Mill is an unassuming outpost of good food in an equally unassuming, very small Iowa town about 7 miles north of I-80. Elk Horn’s touristy claim to fame is that it is the«Danish Capital of Iowa,» which may or may not be an exaggeration, although many Danes settled in the area in the 1800s and early 1900s. The restaurant is on the main street of town and offers a very full menu of pizzas, sandwiches, baked goods, salads and otherwise normal fare. But they are many steps better than the usual small town place. A roasted vegetable submarine sandwich was accented with pesto and a dabble of additional olive oil; really good. The salads are fresh. I had a vegetable salad with an added chicken breast. The chicken was nicely prepared and not dry; the salad was a rich blend of many different vegetables, with a good dressing. It can be difficult to find worthwhile places to eat while traveling through very small towns such as Elk Horn. The Flour Mill is worth a stop.

A welcoming atmosphere with excellent pizza and pasta. Pizza has tasty thin crust, quality ingredients and fresh herbs. Definitely not your generic pizza. Staff is friendly and efficient. Great addition to the area!
