This theater is a real gem. They have updated their sound system so that everyone can hear the movie, even those with hearing aids or are hearing impaired. My parents live in Elk Rapids and I have given them gift certificates which they love since Joe changes the movie about every 2 weeks(or less). Great popcorn, great location, nice people and very reasonably priced movies. If you are looking for entertainment and a good movie experience, look no further than Elk Rapids Cinema.

The Elk Rapids Cinema was once a true gem. A gorgeous illuminated ceiling of pine was a stunner. Since its day, the ceiling has been repainted, reminiscent of paint-by-number. The lobby is cramped with ‘stuff’ and there’s an overall musty smell that is only forgiven by the aroma of buttered popcorn. Just wish this theatre was everything it used to be.

What a step back in time!!! Small village, excellent cinema venue, and discounted movies on Thursdays! This small, personal, friendly movie theatre is a jewel in this little jewel of a town. First run movies, reasonably-priced popcorn, etc., and a leisurely walk from everything in this town!

Little local theater… and we love it. Comfy seats, good priced treats(and tickets) and save your self the half hour drive to TC. When we want to watch a movie, we always see what is playing here first…

Classic old theater with comfy new seats, great concession prices and the friendliest staff you will ever meet. I will go out of my way to see a movie in this theater.

My husband and I saw«Waitress» here. And we couldn’t get over… * Low prices * REAL butter on the popcorn * Local rootbeer(I think it’s Northwoods Wild Bill’s); best ever! * Large theater, surpising for ER Yes, it needs some updates, and the bathroom is old. But the eccentricities, as Sara Lynn noted below, are what adds to the charm of the theatre. Don’t know that I would change a thing. ‘Cept the bathrooms.
