On my way home to the parents’ place in Elk River, I came across a horse that was wearing a collar, and appeared to be tied to a post in a field. I didn’t think too much of it, but when I saw the horse standing in the exact same spot 1.5 days later, it seemed odd to me. I emailed the Sheriff’s department with my concern for the horse’s well-being. Bright and early the next morning, I had an email from the Sheriff’s department waiting in my inbox, promising to look into the matter. Today, I received a phone call from the Sheriff who had looked into the status of the horse — it turns out, the horse just REALLY loves this post, and is actually very well-treated, and in healthy condition. I was really impressed with the level and promptness of communication from their office. Things were handled personally, and extremely quickly. I’m glad to know that this story has a happy ending, and that my parents, as residents of Sherburne County, are in good hands.
