I’ve been here a few times now and each experience has been pretty good. Today we decided to finally try out their Sunday Brunch. Very good, a bit pricey for Elkhart, but people don’t seem to mind. Hubs ordered shrimp and grits which he said were great! The $ 19 price tag is a bit much, however. I tried the southern Benedict. Lots of tasty food for $ 10. More than half is coming home in left over box. The bloody Mary’s are average. I’m a huge fan and was disappointed they weren’t more spicey. Just a regular mix with bacon, one shrimp and a green Olive. This could be improved. All in all, food is really good. Something different for this area which is great! Note to owners… try not to run out of champagne for those mimosa lovers on Sunday!

The menu is just kinda ‘eh’. I found at most two things that sounded appetizing. Bacon Hill burger is good, but you could really get it anywhere. The best thing is the chili bacon dip. Overall, just ‘eh’.

Very good. Had a nice porch sipper and the mac and cheese. Try the pork rinds. You will not be disappointed. The only drawback is the size but good things come in small packages. :)

If it was just the food it would get 10 stars, I had the braised pork belly and my wife had the chopped salad both were a big hit. After breaking the staff away from their conversations I ordered the bananas foster, it’s just okay nothing to write home about. The staff may actually be the worst ever. We nearly walked out because of the dirty bar, it was excessive. The restaurant it’s self was cold, not sure why but they should’ve gotten the hint when everyone was wearing their winter coat inside. We braved the filth based on friends reviews about the food and there isn’t much else close. The staff hovered around the end of the bar visiting and texting while dishes piled up. There were two bartenders of which didn’t say two words after we ordered… Nothing! The food was second to none and the staff was the worst ever. One of the bartenders is actually standing between the kitchen and bar drinking.

Food is great and delicious but, if you order your entrée before you finish your appetizer you will get it in about 8 mins before you have time for your 3rd bite of appetizer. Not a problem as long as you wait to order your entrée. Has happened every time so it’s the norm but again food is great as long as you pace your ordering…

Had the Bacon Hill Burger and loaded potatoes with a Schlafly Bourbon Barrel Ale. Tops! The burger was juicy and delicious. Bartender service by Ashley was good considering she had all the other duties to attend. We have put this one on our list to try again.

So disappointed. We would LOVE for this to be our corner bar but we’ve yet to have a good meal here. Last visit, my «medium» burger was past well done and my date’s fish was so over salted it wasn’t consumed-a shame at $ 21. The Tuesday night feature was fish tacos so we thought we’d try again. I stopped eating when I’d found the third bone of over 1″ in length. No apology from the wait staff for the bones. Won’t be back.

Great atmosphere. Sat and had dinner at the bar and the bartender(Abby) was busy but took good care of us. Had the mac & cheese with blackened shrimp and was very good. Will definitely go back. Very friendly, upbeat vibe. Prices were reasonable.

I can’t even wait to be finished with my meal to write a review! Food: SOOOGOOD! I saw the fried green tomato for one of their salads but was craving a burger– so my wonderful waitress(Abby) was super friendly and helpful! She suggested the Georgia Burger which has the fried green tomato and pimento cheese… *jaw drop* holy cow! I wish I had a bigger stomach! I could eat TWO! Not only was the burger so amazing, the quantity of food was more then I needed and only about $ 9 or so! The quality of each ingredient was top notch too! My husband ordered the Peanut butter burger and the bacon was top of the line! He loved it too! Even the little ones food was yummy!(Of course I had to take a bite when she wasn’t looking … To check for poison LL…) she got the foot long corn dog and it was really yummy! Waitress– Abby helped us, and was wonderful! She was attentive and helpful when choosing what to order! Very friendly, very sweet! I would hire her to work for me if I owned a restaurant! Atmosphere– love the lay out and décor! Overall– I’m glad we decided to stop in for lunch! We are from out of town, but family lives here still. We are for sure going to make a point to eat here each time we are home on leave! Thank you, Bacon Hill! You did a wonderful job!

We’ve had Bacon Hill on our list since they opened and finally had a chance to stop in and check it when we were in the area for a football game. We arrived for a late lunch /early dinner around 4:30. There was one other table seated along with a couple folks watching football at the bar. The place is quaint and well decorated. We opted for one of the high top tables near the bar. The table was a little wobbly, but nothing we couldn’t handle. I noticed there were purse hooks at the bar and I wish they would have included that with the high tops since the only option was to have my purse on the floor which was bit sticky. We were greeted by our server right away and my husband was happy to see a nice variety of craft beers on tap. We both ended up ordering beers and unfortunately, didn’t notice the nice selection of craft liquors at the bar until after we ate. They carry Journeyman Distillery along with a nice selection of other liquors, including on of our favs, Hum which is hard to find around here. This begs for a craft cocktail list and when we asked our server if they had one, she said no. She did explain that they have a couple of cocktails and quickly rattled them off. Definitely a missed opportunity here! The menu looked great and we started with the Soul Rolls as an appetizer — pulled pork, bleu cheese, slaw wrapped up in an egg roll wrapper and deep fried then served with a side of homemade buttermilk ranch dressing. These were great — three large rolls for $ 7. My only criticism is that they could have been fried another 30 seconds or so for a little more crispness. My husband couldn’t resist the Bacon Hill Burger with a side of fries and I ordered the pork pastrami sandwich. Unfortunately, our server came back a few minutes later and said they were out of the pork pastrami. It would be helpful to communicate between the kitchen and staff so they have the information prior to someone ordering to avoid that disappointment of having to select another item. We knew the pulled pork was good from the rolls so I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. Our order came out quick and the portions were huge. My husband loved his burger and it was cooked a nice medium well. The burger had double patties and he was informed they automatically do medium well since there is pork in it, but it came out a little closer to medium which was perfect(and hard to do with thinner patties). The pulled pork sandwich was massive and topped with a slaw and homemade pickles. Next time I would probably just skip the bun as it didn’t hold up to the sandwich. The sweet potatoes fries were the best we’ve ever had! Seriously, huge serving of fries of both the regular and sweet potato were done to perfection. They have three sauces on the table — a BBQ style, mustard based and a vinegary hot sauce. There is no mention of these sauces anywhere and a quick explanation on the menu, table or from the server would be helpful. We loved all three! Items were reasonably priced and we spent about $ 70 including tip for four beers, an appetizer and two entrees. Overall, the food was worthy of five stars, but there were a few other things that could be improved to make it an overall five star experience — craft cocktail list, better job of telling the BHKP story and cleaner restrooms(women’s restroom was in need of some attention). We’ll definitely be back and can’t wait to check them out for brunch!

Good was good. A bit pricey for what it was. Neat stuff on the walls a lot to look at. Open environment.

I had super high hopes when a friend recommended this place. The menu looked great. Things started off well. Our server was very nice and kept coming back to the table to check on our drinks. She kept us in iced tea. That was the best part of the meal… When we placed our order at 715pm, we were informed that they were out of one of their signature dishes, fried chicken & bacon cheddar waffles. Who runs out of their marquee dish early on a Friday night? Okay other things looked good on the menu so we pressed on. First Course: My wife ordered the sausage tomato local greens soup. One would think there would be sausage in this soup, but this was not the case. It was watery and lacked flavor. I ordered a dinner salad; when offered the dressing options, I was happy to hear they had a green goddess dressing. The dressing was nothing more than a gelatinous parsley flavored goo. However, the hand shredded cheese made the salad almost bearable. Entrée: My wife ordered the pork pastrami sandwich(because they were out of the chicken) and I ordered the Lowcountry Bouillabaisse. When our entrees came, they looked good and hot, which is good because of the time it took to get to the table. My wife’ pork pastrami and chili lime french fries certainly looked good enough, but the fries were cold and extremely soggy. The sandwich was super bland and surprisingly lacked both pork flavor and pastrami flavor. My bouillabaisse tasted like a poorly executed seafood mish mash that lacked deep flavor and was overly spiced. Dessert: Short story — what dessert? We waited 25MINUTES and it never came. Long story — they were showcasing a fluffer nutter dessert that sounded tasty. After ordering, we waited 10 mins for the server to come back saying that the person making our dessert was almost done and that it was taking a while because she had several dessert orders at once. I found this surprising since I saw a member of the kitchen staff standing in the server area drinking and laughing with a server. After another 15 mins and still no dessert, we let the server know we wanted our check and to take the dessert off. She said it was almost done again looking like she was just as embarrassed of her kitchen as we were unhappy. When my wife came back from going to the bathroom she said that the kitchen was laughing and joking around about the canceled dessert.

Having a husband from the South, I am always on the hunt for great Southern food that I don’t have to cook myself… I found it at Bacon Hill! From the pimento cheese to the she-crab soup to the bison meatloaf… off…the…hook!!!

Recommend by another restaurant in town. Couple of us went. A run down on what we ordered. Appetizer was oysters, these were pretty good, not the best we had but worth a try. One of the guys had a pork burger, he liked it, would rate it a 8 out of 10. The rest of us had other burgers, very, very good! Highly recommend. All the desserts are homemade. We split a salted caramel sandwich. Solid choice.

We had the hush puppies as an app. Pretty tasty but at $ 9 too expensive to make ordering it a habit. The 4 of us all built our own burger. Unfortunately I’m not a fan of their burger meat. It’s a mixture of beef, pork, and bacon. Bite into it and it looks a nice medium. Pink throughout. But I guess the color is just from the addition of the bacon. It’s dry dry dry. Tough and overcooked. They have enough toppings to make amends for the patties I guess. But beware pickles are an additional $.75 upcharge. House-made or not they are just not special enough to warrant an upcharge. I was really pleased with the pimento cheese I chose. I’ll try the place once more for the shrimp and grits. At $ 19 it was far too expensive to justify ordering on a thursday night after-golf-league dinner. I’m not sure if Bacon Hill will be a place I frequent with any sort of regularity but probably not. Shame too because this strip really needs some restaurants to make it.

I think we’ve got a winner. My kids loved the burgers and I had the pork belly, whatever that is, and it was amazing. I was only able to try 1 of the craft beers and I want to go back to work my way around to all of them. Even though it was just the 4th day it’s been open the staff was attentive and my food was nice and hot. Weather permitting, it will be nice when we can spend time outside. I think the small size of the restaurant may hold them back some day, but I’m sure they need to see how things are going in a year before thinking about expanding.
