i’ve played trumpet for 40 years. i’ll take a getzen over any other. you simply talked to the wrong person on the phone.

You may want to skip this company if you are looking for a new instrument.
They have people answering the phones that really don’t know how to answer questions. I asked this one lady about the difference between two instruments I was interested in and all she could say was that they were completely different from each other. When I asked her how so, again, I got the same answer — that they were two completely different instruments. She didn’t give any specs or details but just wanted to get me off the phone by telling me that I could look at the specs on their website. Whatever happened to good old customer service? Where you were happy to talk to a customer that wanted to spend thousands of dollars on your product? Pathetic! I asked if there was a good comparison chart — many companies are now providing comparison charts when they sell many different versions of a similar product — NOPE! They have nothing like that. It was like pulling teeth to get her to even talk about some of the different features between the two instruments. Almost as if I was inconveniencing her with my questions. She then told me to check out their sister company, Edwards — I’ve never heard of this instrument maker. But through the course of our strained conversation, she did tell me that the Getzen instruments and the Edwards instruments were made by the same artisans and in the same factory, So, why then, the big price difference? The sister company wanted over $ 1300 more than the parent company for the same instrument, and they are made in the same factory! She tried to explain it away by saying they customer fit you and she said they had better tolerances. It didn’t seem that she knew what she was talking about. But, if these are made from the same raw materials, by the same technicians, at the same factory, then what is a person really getting that is better than the parent company. This whole thing sounded a bit shady to me.
I did some online research of this company and it seems they have a rather rocky history. Going bankrupt, being bought out, bankrupt again, family tries to buy the company back, etc. Wow, what a mess!
Be careful if you choose to deal with this company. Ask ALOT of questions! (but that is no guarantee you will get a straight answer, based on my experience with them)
