Usually when customers walk through the door it’s customary to greet them, especially when they’re met with a not-so-obvious ordering process. The person working really didn’t seem to care whether we kept sitting at the table wondering if someone was going to come take an order or if we just got up and left to go to McDonald’s. That said, once we figured it out, the menu had a reasonable assortment of sandwiches, but the sides were a disappointment. Potato chips or cottage cheese? WTF is that? There are some clever items on the menu but the lack of effort on the sides left me scratching my head. My Kesseldilla was very good and my husband said his Rachel was decent. Both would have gone great with a fresh deli salad of some sort, but since cottage cheese was the only other options, we had the store-bought chips. The food was prepared fresh and arrived hot, delivered by a lady who sounded like she was on the verge of crying. Sodas were in 16 ounce bottles. Bottom line: good food, probably worth the stop if passing through town, but don’t come here for the service.

I’ve always love The Kissel Stop. I’ve been going there since jay and sandy opened it and Joanie has definitely continued the tradition of fantastic food and good service. The chicken salad is a must, but even after years of eating there, I have a hard time picking what I want because everything is so good! Def check it out!

This place is great for grabbing a quick bite or taking some time to sit down to relax or study. There are tons of places to sit and there’s plenty of table space to spread out any work you have to do. Good music is played over the speakers and the inside looks really relaxing. Food is kind of expensive but all very well made and their drinks are fantastic. Parking is extremely easy(meters are located nearby and are VERYCHEAP!!!). A great place to stop by when you’re in Elkins.

Tasty sandwiches, free wifi, and bottomless sweet iced tea. No local meat options yet. Soon hopefully!

Rolled into Kissel during a road trip through West Virginia and walked in the door without realizing it was five minutes from closing. Staff was super accommodative and let us sit anyway. The sandwiches were fantastic and a welcome change from our supplements of chex mix and fritos. The lattes were only ok, but the kid making them had never done it before, so free pass. They also gave us a box of free danishes. Wonderful staff, would definitely come back — might be worth the detour through Elkins again.

Fantastic little coffee shop off a side downtown street near the Railroad Depot in Elkins. Larger, but cozy space that gives you kind of the alt-vibe you might find in a college town(I don’t call D&E a regular college). Can’t believe it took me this many years to stop by. Chai was a little too sweet, but great option in Elkins.

I grew up in Elkins and Kissel Stop is always a staple for me when I visit home. I don’t know what would possess someone to review this place as 1 star. Try this place. Great coffee, teas, and sandwiches.

This is a mediocre coffee shop selling mediocre to poor coffee. I ordered a cup of coffee on one occasion and it was mediocre. My everything bagel was probably a Sara Lee bagel purchased from Wal-Mart, it was what you would expect from a Sara Lee bagel. I returned a couple of days later and ordered a double cappuccino and a scone. My order totaled $ 7.18, which in Elkins, WV is preposterous for a cup of coffee and a pastry. I did some quick math in my head based on the prices on the menu board: $ 2.59 for cappuccino, $ 2.59 for the scone, which was $ 5.20. I inquired as to how much the extra shot was and was told it was $ 1.59. I’ve been to LOTS of coffee shops, corporate ones, independent ones, doughnut shops, etc. and have never payed $ 1.59 for an extra shot of espresso. As I drank my $ 4.50 cappuccino, I noticed the menu board said that a single shot of espresso is $ 1.59, and a double espresso is $ 1.99; therefore, one could conclude that an extra shot of espresso would be $ 0.40. That’s not the case at this establishment. The owner could not/would not explain why she charges so much for an extra shot except to say«That’s how much it costs to use the product.» When I asked how she prepares the double versus the single she responded with«I don’t have to tell you that.» It became abundantly clear to me that these folks do not have a passion for coffee. The owner was defensive and rude and demonstrated atrocious customer service skills. I’ve received better coffee and customer service from McDonald’s. I do not recommend this place at all. The scone was ok.
