Let’s be honest, Elko Nevada doesn’t scream«delicious Chinese food» to you at first glance but I’ll be damned if this isn’t some of the best I’ve had. Fast, great service, good prices and great food. You can’t ask any more than that.

Love love love this place. Portions are huge and the food is beyond amazing. The only reason they get 4 stars instead of 5 is that the booth they sat us in had a «flat» seat and I was sunken in lol. I know it’s not really a big deal but it should be taken care of. The waiters were great and even though they don’t do a birthday song or anything, the waitress offered to sing to my husband. Totally sweet.

Food is amazing! I would have given it a 5 star only if the host were good at communication in english.

Chinese in Elko??? Not bad, we had dinner for two. Soup, Chow mien, fried rice, sweet sour pork and breaded fried prawns. Prawns were to much breading and not my favorite. ALL the rest of the food was great!!! OMG, even the fortune cookies, Surprise!!! Don’t let me forget, waiter wasn’t to mentionable at first, but he warmed up to us, and ended up being attentive and friendly. Inside décor was nicely done too, surprise!!! I’ll be back if I’m in Elko

I have the pleasure of eating here many times. Food is excellent, service is even better. One of my favorite restaurants in Elko.

This truly is one of those old school Chinese restaurants that look like it hasn’t changed since they filmed the end scene of the Christmas Story movie in it(just kidding, but this place truly is a blast from the past. The pot stickers are incredible, the hot and sours soup is memorable in its seasoning and spice and the combo plates, be them for lunch or dinner are an intense helping of Chinese food at an amazing price. Bonus; the fortune cookies I’m given are always extremely poignant. Great place to have authentic Chinese American eats as it has done for an obvious very long time.

We stayed in Elko over Labor Day on our way to California. We stayed in a motel close to Chef Cheng’s and I decided to get a late lunch take-out. Although we eat meat, I’ve been trying to eat less so I ordered the Mu Shu Vegetables. The Mu Shu was great! The vegetables were perfectly crisp and the egg was delicately woven in. The sauce was flavorful, but not overpowering. And, the pancakes were perfectly thin and soft. I also ordered a side or rice because I am a sucker for sticky soft Jasmine rice. It was just as it should be. I highly recommend stopping here! Be sure to check out the specials too. That day, the specials included bok choy with black mushroom and crispy duck.

Ordered the Kung pao chicken and my boyfriend had Mongolian beef. Both were very delicious. Staff was friendly and portions were enough for two! Definitely recommend!

What a pleasant experience. The food was great and the service good. We found the restaurant on Unilocal, thanks Unilocal, and found the reviews reasonably accurate. We started with the hot and sour soup for me and the war won ton for my wife. The hot and sour soup in something I have at all Chinese restaurants we go to. This made the top of the list displacing the previous four year best. Yes, it is that good. The won ton soup was very good or so my wife says. She likes war won ton the way I like the hot and sour. Along with the soup we had the fried calamari. We had the same result as with the soups, the calamari was excellent. The calamari was seasoned perfectly. For a main course we had the sizzling seafood deluxe At the risk of becoming boring, another excellent dish. We highly recommend this restaurant.

One is such a lonely number. Especially when you go to a Chinese restaurant that does brisk take out. «To go?» was how I was greeted. Bummer… do I look that sad? I’ve been out of town for work for awhile in Elko and have been meaning to get to the Chinese places but the last time I ate Chinese in rural Nevada… not a great memory. My experience this time will be a much more fond memory. A memory of large portions of food. Unique and tasty Hot and Sour Soup. Fried rice like my mom used to make when we were kids. No. My mom isn’t from China, she’s from Kansas. So yeah, the rice is a little Americanized. But I think this is the right direction. Elko isn’t a place where you go all authentic with fuzzy foreigner food. You go with what works. And this really did work. It was really good. Lots of onions on the Mongolian Beef. Spicier than sweet and almost more like a fajita asian style. Anyway the food prices are what you might expect to pay anywhere else for Chinese, but the portions might be a little surprising, so make sure you have a place to take home the left overs. Parking sucks. Not really much of it, but really unless they get some strange rush… it seems that most people choose take out. I don’t blame them the interior is nice… but not really anything to make you want to stay, when you can get this good food to go. I will be back to try some of the more unique stuff on the menu. But tonight I was just getting my appetite whetted.

Literally the only Chinese food I’ll eat. Just phenomenal. The chips and sweet and sour sauce they give out for free are just so delicious. Very friendly and prompt staff. I’ve never had a complaint here.

A blessing for vegitarians on the road. It’s the same dilemma everywhere I go. I role into a town not knowing one place from another and hoping that there is some place where I, as a vegitarian, can eat. I cruise up and down the main street searching in vain for an Indian restaurant, but alas, my hopes were crushed. «Hey, there’s a Chinese place,» I say to myself with excitement, «their may be hope.» And there was hope. Cheng’s has vegitarian appetizers, soup, noodle and rice dishes. As I was slathering my last bite of vegitarian spring roll with chili sauce with thoughts of ordering another helping since I inhaled the two rolls on my plate in moments, out comes the most heaping helping of vegi fried rice I have ever layed eyes on. I could have eaten off of that plate for a week! Wow. I give this place four Buddhas. Three Buddhas just for opening this restaurant in Elko, and the last Buddha for providing my stomach with inner peace.

There is something about the chow mein here. I’m pretty sure it’s the best chow mein I’ve ever had… Food comes in HUGE portions. Very good!

This is best Chinese food we took along the way to a few national parks. The restaurant owner is very nice, and the dishes he recommended are very delicious. My niece normally does not eat shrimp, while she loves the walnut shrimp at the first bite. The deep fried pork ribs are amazing. The fried dumpling is so popular and all my family love it. Will recommend this restaurant to friends if they drive to/from Yellowstone Park.

The restaurants was clean, decorated very well and appropriate for their cuisine. The menu had a lot of tasty selections available to pick from. The service was very prompt, and very personal. The servings were more than ample and were very delicious. We had shrimp and lobster sauce, cashews shrimp, sesame chicken and Mu shu pork. It is very delicious, and the plate presentation was well prepared. We would recommend this to our friends, and have an interest in returning some day.

This interesting garden spot is my favorite for Chinese in Elko. My hot and sour soup was flavorful and full of textural additions. I arrived late in the evening. There was no fried rice. The eggplant and garlic sauce was another well-flavored dish, with lots of texture from crunchy water chesnut slivers, eggplant, and the other ingredients. Equal or a bit more in price compared to the local buffet, quite a bit more than the local Chinese fast food, your restaurant dollar will be well-spent at Chef Cheng’s because the chef delivers large portions of thoughtfully prepared, artistically garnished, delicious food.

There are about 4 tables ordering at about the same time with me. For some reason mine came at least 20 minutes later. The food is cheap americanized Chinese food at best.
