You know… when I’ve pictured a beached whale in the past… it’s always some sort of baleen type of whale. Like a blue or humpback. Now I realize that I should be picturing an Orca Whale. Cause Orca whales do All You Can Eat sushi every day and all day! Yep I felt like a «beached Orca» at the end of this meal. I also vow to never ever ever go to sushi without friends. I’ve become addicted to the variety of sushi when I am sharing with my friends. I went in after a very light food day at work. I thought this would be the perfect time! I am pretty hungry and I think I can eat more! I couldn’t. I did get my money’s worth, no problem there. The chef was cool and made me a few half rolls as well. But I just like more variety than I had. So don’t go here unless you have friends to go with you, for sushi at least. The other stuff might be just fine. All the rolls I had were pretty good. If you have been to Reno and eaten as Sushi Pier 2. It’s a very similar experience. This isn’t a coincidence. The chef I sat in front of worked there years ago.

The sushi here is alright, not bad for being in the middle of nowhere. It definitely is not as good as when they first opened a few years ago. The place is usually packed on the weekends, service is slow because of it. Sit at the bar if you are in a hurry. I got overcharged a couple years ago. Paid like $ 120 for two AYCE. I’ve been turned off from them for awhile because of it. Would go only for AYCE though.

Great sushi, especially if you enjoy very inventive rolls and wonderful flavor combinations. Also, their all you can eat price is very cost effective. Not to mention their amazing Thirsty Thursday sake drink special for free with the all you can eat order(i.e. you drink for free, essentially).

Ron must have caught this place on an off day. This place is garbage. Both the food and the service are bad. I’ve given it multiple tries and I can honestly say they will be my last as I will never eat here again. Some of the menu items are descent but the service is so horrible it makes the entire experience quite marginal.

I clearly don’t understand any of the bad reviews. The sushi is excellent! I travel a lot and have had sushi in a number of places. I eat hear at least once a week. When they are busy, the service can be poor. I recommend sitting at the bar if you are in a hurry.

This place is terrible. The fish is not fresh. The service is not fast. The facility is not clean. When it first opened up it was decent. The local health inspection ratings for this joint can be found online, and they aren’t pretty.

Great food and sushi! Only gave 4 stars because the service was a little slow. But will definitely be going back again.

Great sushi! Quite unexpected in Elko. Little on the pricey side if you’re looking at take-out but the AYCE seems like a pretty good value if you have the time(unfortunately I did not). Will I return? Absolutely!

Pretty decent for small town sushi. The rolls were quite creative. A cross between Mexican and Japanese… strange but oddly good.

It’s dirty, the menu(only had 1 for 3 of us) were so old it was hard to read, super slow service(10 – 15 min a roll), glasses stay empty or 5 – 10 minutes between refills. Just doesn’t seem like a place to eat raw fish… And they charged us all u can eat when we went al la carte.

The food is fresh, good and better than I expected for sushi in the middle of Nevada. The place could be a little cleaner(sticky counter) and the service definitely left something to be desired. Better service would of given it four stars.

The oysters are really good but I always get the impression that this place is dirty. The service is also sloooooooooooooow. Once we waited almost an hour for a check after dinner, all the while asking multiple waiters many times over. I go back because it’s cheap but it’s not my favorite.

I recently moved out of Elko and miss Kubuki! Like many others I was shocked at how good the food is! John, the owner, and Miguel the manager have been in the business quite a while and have established themselves very well. I ate the all you can eat 7 or 8 times and ordered off the menu 2 – 3 times. Each time I was delivered high quality food with exquisite taste. Some complain about their ordering policies, which really don’t bother me.

I was shocked to hear that there were sushi restaurants in this town. I mean, it’s the middle of nowhere, NV. It’s over 3 hours from Salt Lake City and 4 hours from Reno. In between SLC and here, there’s only one ‘town’ and it’s only got a BK& Subway. We walked in and I have to admit I was a little shocked not to see a small Asian man or woman working the counter. There was a really sweet and friendly hispanic couple who welcomed us with smiles and we quickly sat down. The service was a little slow, but it was so friendly and the food was SO tasty that it didn’t matter. We ordered the Spicy California Roll, The Mamma’s veggie roll, the potstickers(which are deep fried) and the Reno Roll. Everything was SO tasty and once we ordered it, it was VERY quick to come out. I also received unlimited water refills from 3 different people on the floor. I loved it, left SO full and would be back in a heartbeat! YUM!

I read the reviews for this place, and I wasn’t sure about eating here. My worries were unfounded. There were reports of slow or rude service. Wrong! I walked in the door and within one minute I was seated and served my drink. I was pondering about 40 dollars worth of food. My server suggested the all you can eat special. $ 39.95 for almost everything on the menu, and as much as I want. Good server! Soup served in about one minute. Yum! Rich full miso flavor and a large portion. The girl making the sushi(cute little girl), took my order for mixed tempura(6 large shrimp, zuchinni, squash, red cabbage cole slaw with homemade chili mayo and rice. Chili mayo=superb) served quickly and hot. All items cooked perfectly and lava hot. Next was their version of spicy tuna(Kamakazi Roll). Large portion(eight pieces) very fresh tuna, and a great eel sauce. I ordered Angel Eyes Roll. I especially enjoyed the spicy crab on top! I was full after all that food. $ 50 worth of food and drink for 40 bucks! Good special! Let me point out that my server, sushi mistress, and even the other servers and the other sushi mistress made me feel right at home and went out of their way to please me. Elko, you are lucky to have this little gem in your town. Right near Raley’s too! You can enjoy excellent sushi and do your shopping in one stop! I will be back!

Before I continue, I may be spoiled by Reno’s Hiroba Sushi and Tha Joint, but this is less of a critical review of the food and more about the style of service. While the food was outstanding and the quality of the fish and rolls were impeccable. The style of service left something to be desired. The waitress was friendly, prompt, and helpful, she was not part of the problem by any means. With lunch prices at around $ 24 per person and dinner at $ 30, I had high expectations for Kubuki. However, you are only allowed to order 2 things at a time. There is no «sushi sheet», which every AYCE sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to uses. As well, we had a decent sized group, 6 people. They waited until the entire order was made before they brought it. Which meant we waited a half an hour before our first order was brought out and then half an hour in between each subsequent of our 2 «allowed orders.» We were there for over 2 and a half hours and received only 4 rounds of orders. Again, while the quality was great and the food tasted amazing, I cannot get passed the ordering system. My suggestion to Kubuki, go with the flow and get order sheets. Begin to bring food out as it’s made. That way customers don’t have to wait 30 mins in between their two orders. Quality was great, the waitress was great, the time spent waiting for food was unacceptable.

Traveling as a vegan is full of concern for where you will get your next meal, Cliff Bars can only sustain you for so long. A friend and I on a trip from San Francisco to Salt Lake got caught up in a snow storm and decided to stop in Elko to get our bearings and grab some food before continuing on our journey. We saw this place on Unilocal and decided to make a stop. On deciding to go our feat was finding the place in the snow. Google maps and Unilocal sent us to nowhere and then calling the place was less help than we hoped. The place is tucked away in the back of a shopping center between a few restaurants, but we did find it. The menu is extensive but there are very few veggie options. I am used to having your usual avocado rolls, cucumber rolls, and other more creative things with Daikon, carrots, or Umeboshi paste. I got an avocado roll and a cucumber roll and both were good, they are simple rolls and they were done well. My dining companion had the shrimp tempura and said it had a good texture and was done well. They were happy to bring extra ginger and tempura dipping sauce for us. BESTPART: Half-way through a few staff members asked us if we wanted Saki Bombs on the house. Unfortunately, I was driving but my friend had one with two of the guys working there and another diner. All the staff were very accommodating and a lot of fun. As we were leaving, a couple was eating and it looked like they were friends with a guy who worked there but they brought them back behind the counter and showed them to roll sushi. This whole place seems like a good time with good food for a good price.

I was in Elko last week and stopped by Kubuki Sushi for lunch. It was VERYGOOD. The restaurant is inviting, the staff is very friendly and through the glass you can see that the fish is fresh. The menu has a wide range dishes so even those not interested in the«raw stuff» can have great meal. I chose to have a spicy tuna roll, unagi and a cabbage salad. All were wonderful. I have to admit I do not like ginger.(yes it’s true but I love sushi) The salad had ginger but there was something else that balanced it very well and I loved it. For those that want to try a little bit of everything they even have an all you can eat sushi lunch or dinner. I’m in Elko about once a month. I’ll be going back.
